  • Having a scratched CEREC scanner glass can impact the quality of your scan, as well as how fast you can scan.
    There is an option to replace the glass, but it is very expensive.
    In this video, I show you how a sapphire glass polishing kit can be used to make your scanner glass brand new!
    Places to buy:

    Hi Paul, my omnicam scans a plaster model perfectly but doesn't scan the mouth. I've dried the teeth etc. Was told that it's an LED issue. However, this means a new scanner is needed which is expensive. Where can I order the polish from the UK? I'm willing to try it before committing to a new scanner. Thank you.

      Hi Wayne, are you waiting for the scanner to heat up enough? Otherwise, yeah, likely a new light is needed. To buy it, check out the website below. Otherwise search for the name of the paste in Google and you should find someone who posts to you

    Hello Paul, if you polish the glass manually, the glass will no longer be flat and the stripe projection will then be faulty. Hold the polished glass of the camera against a window with a blind and you will see that the stripes are no longer straight. Greetings from Germany Peter PS: If possible update your Omni to Cerec Connect or SW5.2 and you´ll see a big improvement!

      Hi Peter, thanks for the suggestion. I can tell you after using it for about 6mo since polishing it, it's much much better. The fit and speed of it has improved since then
      Yes I would love to upgrade, but it isn't my practice and the bosses have decided to wait until next year before upgrading.

      Morning Paul, thx for feedback. Let me ask Sirona in Bensheim if polishing is definitely not damaging the glass. I polished my bluecam just like you before selling it and the result is exactly like yours. The scratches were gone, but the glass was minimally curved. You could only see the curvature through the reflections on the glass when striped light rays hit it. Don't you think that Sirona wouldn't love to sell us mass expensive glass polish, if a polish done by dentists, will improves the appearance?
      For newer Omnicams there is a Performce Package sold by Sirona for 1200€. Scanning includes STL-export with latest SW5.2 algorithm for better improvement by full-arch an large-span bridges, especially in the front. Package includes Windows 10 key (cave: scan only no CAD). With computer experience you can upgrade for 250€. I did it with some really smart guys from the German dental-forum, but won’t do it again, because my time is too expensive. The upgrade costs me a week of research and one day to execute. If doing it again, I’ll may need only 3-4 hours including upgrading windows 10.
      B.r. Peter

      Sounds good, let me know.
      I think they wouldn't want that, they'd rather sell a more expensive new cover 🤣

    Hi Paul, Sirona Bensheim wrote back. They told me to buy a new case 🤣 what else. But they interestingly do not explicitly confirm my request, that polishing will damage the plain surface of the glass. I’m still cautious about polishing and may ask you again in a year or so, if you have fitting-problems with bridges, before I polish mine. Best wishes from the home of Cerec&inLab Peter

      Hi Peter, that doesn't surprise me!
      I can tell you that the people that taught me this, have been doing it for years, and are 'Cerec trainers' here in Aus. We followed their lead and did this about 6mo ago. We are a surgery of 4 dentists who make about 15 units (total) per week, so it gets a workout. Our fit is still perfect, but we only do single units. The main benefit of being able to scan a lot easier, is still there.
      Hope that helps 👌

      @dr.peterblume9157 2 роки тому

      @@DrPaulsDentalWorld I believe single units is not such a problem, cerec does really good job under worst condition by single units. But when it comes to connected units or bridges, the requirement for precision is much higher. Maybe I buy a new shell and make tests with the old scratched one. Do they ship the polish-kit to Germany?

    • @DrPaulsDentalWorld
      @DrPaulsDentalWorld  2 роки тому

      I suppose I'm extrapolating that we haven't seen a decrease in quality for single units, so I'm expecting for multiple units it should be the same 🤷‍♂️
      The guy I bought it from is in Australia, but you can definitely get this polish from other places.

      1. Did you calibrated the Bluecam after polishing?
      2. Omnicam and Primescan use different image acquisition technologies, your Bluecam actually overlays a line pattern to capture 3D.
      3.Maybe ask your technician to have a go at repolish the bluecam.

      Hi Peter, it's been a year on, and things are still fitting great! We don't do any bridges, but for single crowns, they are fitting awesome. My techniques of prep have probably improved but I would say that the fit has been better than ever. About 2wks I also re polished it, because it was scratched again, over time

    I recently got a routine upper left wisdom tooth extraction but I would like to know if the recovery only 7 to 10 days or is it longer

    • @DrPaulsDentalWorld
      @DrPaulsDentalWorld  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Rob, the recovery is up to two weeks. For an upper routine extraction normally things feel better after about 1wk and at the stage you will likely feel minimal pain and you can eat and clean etc back to normal

    Hi DR
    Sometimes i use zircon block which is not sirona
    then when i insert the block and type the code there's message appears that (no label quality was recognized...) Then it will start milling but it will not transfer data to cerec speed fire furnace sothat i can do sintering.
    Thats why i only use it for milling then do the sintering in outside lab.
    Can you help and advice please?
