Hello my friend. The fact that you chose "Zeit" to react to and that you mentioned me in the beginning and then your very intelligent and empathic and respectful reaction, all that made me cry. Cry cause of joy. Your reaction to the song is my Christmas present.
"Zeit" means a lot to me. As you figured out it's about death and change, about the circle of life and also about goodbye, when you lose someone or something important. "When our time has come it's time to" is one line. To me it's a reminder that everything in life comes to an end and that it's a good idea to keep it in mind and be thankful for all the things and bonds you have.
I am an old German guy at the end of the road. I suffer from Parkinson's and had cancer this year. I'm a huge Rammstein fan for not longer than three years. I almost didn't pay much attention to them until I saw an American UA-camr react to "Du hast". Then I listened to song after song, falling in love with them guys. The topics and lyrics are sometimes strange and sometimes even disturbing (though there are of course reasons for that) but music and performance are always top quality.
The day the video "Zeit" was released on UA-cam last year my then girlfriend cheated on me and I cried hours to the song.
Your reactions give me hope for the future. Because you are an intelligent warmhearted respectful young man and we need more respect and tolerance in our world

"Zeit" (time) is the title track of their last album so far. That album is created under the impression of personal losses of the band members. And in almost all tracks of that album there is a melancholic touch, even in the upbeat and funny tracks. A central line in the lyrics of this song is "Zeit, bitte bleib steh'n, bleib steh'n" (time, please stop, stand still). Of course that is not possible. It's about the unstoppability of time.

I heard that this and Adieu was written because of a good friend of Till and Paul who passed away. It was their way of dealing with it.
