I know you guys are a business but the price does seem a little steep
Doesn't explain the price eather, same comparation Witcher 3 Blood and wine, new videos, new map, new voice, new movment caption, also need fisical and voice actors. Etc... cost the same as this expnasion when they needed more time, more employes and more cost to make as this content. Or are you saying making the Witcher expansion as cheapar than this DLC? and the beast men have more work behinde. Also there are more variables, more text, and a way bigger map to devolpe. SO no. some new ilustration and table content for new items and mision text doesn't explain the price. Ok the needed to do new animationn but not as much as you want us to make belive. Also they have already some mech to use like the giant the used several times. If we look content and how mutch they had to devolpe WH had a lot less to do. CHaos DLC doenst count because it was taken out of the game, they are badly balanced, although people have to buy them seperatly, they arent as good as the suposed to be respect the other one. a fair price woul have ben arrund 10 euros. 12 top.

1. You can't compare a singleplayer RPG like Witcher 3 to a Grand Strategy/RTS like Total War. There's no comparison to be made. Just stop.

Well, comparing Witcher to Total War isn't entirely fair, for one the Total War staff will more than likely cost more being based in the UK which has quite high income tax and expected wages, compared to CD Projekt red who operate mostly out of Poland, which is likely far cheaper to operate from.
I still don't think the beastmen price is a fair one, but the direct comparison between the two isn't entirely fair.
I think the price is that way because it's not only a new race but also a new campaign.
Y'all bitching about 18$ for a faction but will drop 15$ for a league of legends skin or champion when released lol.
The difference is that LoL is A free to play and B the skin is not gameplay. So with LoL people are fine with paying a little for a game they put hundreds of hours into for free. Sega already asks for a lot of money for the base game. obviously people wont like it when they add overpriced DLC that basically costs 3 times the money per content compared to the base game.

This Total War has hundreds of hours of gameplay without DLC. It is feature complete without DLC. CA are not asking you to skip meals to buy this. Just save up for 3-4 months and maybe you, too, can afford a 20 dollar discretionary item.

I ordered this immediately when I noticed it on steam. I would have paid more for more units. I'm not disappointed in there being some units missing.

I remember when expansion packs for 20 pound got you 4 campaigns, multiple factions and you could play as the crusader states! now you only get one dlc faction for the same price!!

Development cost went up but also way more people buy the game. Having a price that is basically 10 times higher is not justified.

ittyandpocky in terms of profit TW warhammer already made something close to 3 times gross income compared to older TWs. Yes production cost is higher. Income also is a lot higher.
The thing about Atilla DLC is that they basically just reskinned old units and only edited old models. Of course cost is way lower compared to making new models. But when a witcher can give you more hours for same or even lower price with many new models voices maps etc. And yes that is comparable if you consider that creating complicated hand made 3d environments takes more time than TW maps.
Saying that this DLC is worth the price is seriously stupid. Its not worth the money per content rate and even if you consider production cost it still is overpriced.

Lizardmen would mean a whole new continent of Lustria. Which might be a bigger dlc pack. I'd wager next would be the Wood Elves or even High/Dark Elves and Ulthuan to expand the map.
I hope they don't rush DE, HE or LM in there. They should be added in an expansion which adds naval warfare, as that would do justice to the factions in questions.
(Also who doesn't want to see a Dwarven Ironclad or an Orc shoddily made transport barge?)

I suspect High Elves and the New World will be in their final expansion, due to having to redevelop naval combat to...actually be good, I suspect the first large expansion will be towards the east in the land of tomb kings and what have you.

Jody Boles by the time all the DLC comes out for this game it must be nearing 200. Beastmen isn't even a major faction compared to something like the elves/lizardmen which i suspect might be even more expensive than this. They have showed here that they will sell each new faction for $20 and there is a lo to come. I guarantee it.

Yeah, Woodelves are next since they want to give us Bretonnia, but since Bretonia dosent have its main rival for grand campaing they will wait until they deliver one, since Woodelves are their rivals its logical that we will get complete Bretonnia faction with them.
But surely the wood elves would just have to defend all the time? With the regional occupation limits, it doesn't allow for you to break lore and be a wood elf empire.

If we lookm at it statistically it is not worth 18€. 18€ are nearly a third of the original price. Therefore a third of the value of the existing content should be appropiate and in this dlc. But that is false. You get 1 new Race and a little campaign map addition. The main game has 5 units and a far bigger map. This dlc would be appropiataly sattled in the 1/5 of the main game price which is 10€.

this means that their are actually two campaigns. a normal size one and a mini one called eye for a eye haha

You'd still have to buy the dlc. Otherwise your game will crash when it tries to find non-existing model files when you try to run such a mod. The price is okay for a campaign pack anyway. I'm expecting the mini-campaign map size to be along the lines of the Spanish Civil War dlc in Empire TW.
The faction will be available for free in Grand Campaign as AI. The models will be in, but I think they will limit what unit available to it if you didn't purchase the DLC. People can try unlocking them for MP and singleplayer via mod, but I doubt it will have the full DLC rooster along with missing tech trees and encampment buildings. Mini campaign however, certainly will not be available.
Red chomp this kind of practice has been successful for them so far after doing it with the past 3 Total War games (Just check steam store page of Empire Total War, Shogun 2 Total War, and Rome 2 Total War).
You probably going to wait for next year for High Elves, since they going to be part of one of two standalone expansion game; Grand Campaign map expanded with 3-4 major factions in each game. HE predicted will come out with DE and Lizardmen.
For this year however, we will get Wood Elves DLC. For now, I recommend you buy Blood for the Blood God DLC. This graphic update worth the price in my opinion.

Unfortunately CA said In a Q&A that because of the amount it would cost to model and animate them they can't add all the units in every faction. So they aren't going to be in the Beastmen faction. But I'm sure modders could probably add them in as long as the assets are there in the current modding kit (wouldn't know cause I don't use it)
I believe CA said that modelling and animating the ghorgons and the like would cost them about as much as the entierty of Age of Charlemagne.

jabberslythes are stupid looking monsters im glad they left them out. ghorgons on the other hand could have been cool but they are basically just giants anyway(or fill that role) so a giant reskin just makes more sense. The fact I dont see a chariot is kinda bullshit, they have the skeleton and animation for the boar chariot that I would think would work perfect for the beastmen chariot. I have actually done some modeling and animating with total war games(for mods) and believe me its not easy, still worth the 20 bucks by far even with a few cut units.
Still costs less then a single unit of Beastmen on the Table Top...

In their defense (and willfully taking your comment seriously), it's not just a race pack as it also contains a separate 52 province/10-20 hour campaign map.
Still the same campaign map and the campaign map is not a strength of total war: warhammer. So it's break down to an overpriced race pack.
Personally I would much rather they took the campaign map out and reduced the price by 5-7 euros.
No, it's an entirely new campaign map for the Eye for an Eye campaign, ala the Caesar in Gaul campaign for Rome II

Every showcase of any model/unites does in fact have those animations or look in fact.
They do impale infantry in the game if that's what you are asking, we've seen that in the screenshots.
In these unit showcases the animations they show end up in the game as well

I see Maya here. A shame you didn't include a proper Maya exporter in the Assembly Tools (at the moment it only exports animations). Why do we have to use 3DS Max to export our rigs / models / textures?

The base game factions are incomplete roosters too if that's any consolation. There is no squigs and snotlings within greenskin army currently.
This game kicks ass. It isn't reskinned and rehashed forces. Every race is its own thing...And because they have put so much effort into this, and continue to impress, for once I have no problem with lots of DLC...They deserve to make a shitload of money for this title, as so many fantasy based strategy games over the last decade have been lame. So yeah, any DLC for this title is fine by me! Bring it on!

honestly, i don't think it's overpriced. in the olden days where DLCs were called add-ons, add-ons were about 0.5 to 2/3 the price of the base game. normally add-ons had at least double the content of nowadays DLC. so i'm totally ok with this DLC to be about 1/4 of the starting price of the base game.

I'm very happy with the quality of work put into the game so far. While the factions are missing a few key units (Empire Knightly Orders and Beastmen Ghorgons come to mind), I can see why they were left out as a bit unnecessary mechanic-wise, at least at this early stage.
Personally, I'd like to see the game evolve geographically with adding in the factions. Firt off could be the factions that live on the current map or close to it.
Wood Elves in South-east Bretonnia, Skaven in several places (though it would be interesting to see how they'd work, seeing as they have settlements all over the Old World), Ogres in the Mountains of Mourn east of the Badlands, Tomb Kings to the South in Khemri.
All of these can be added without even leaving the mainland (And you can see the sands stretching south on the current map too...)
There's a lot more to fit in and it's only just begun. I look forward to seeing what is coming next.

Should give the Empire some upgrades. All of these factions are basically tailor made for killing men. Nobody will want to play as them!
Seems like the money and time invested in a mini campaign would have been better spent filling the roster and improving the quality of life in Campaign and Multiplayer. The main thing mods will have a hard time filling in is monster units (not balance or weapon variants), if CA is looking to make the best, fullest and long-term profitable game possible, this should be priority #1. They should be looking to ride the wave of their massive launch sales and get the highest % possible to buy into the game. Also not looking to get slammed with 20 achievements every DLC as the base trilogy looks like it will get close to 500 alone. I like the idea of mini campaigns, but don't waste them on the beast men. I have nothing against Todbringer (name is Todd, how could I be?) or Khazrak, but save the mini campaign money for Malekith's Sundering, Sigmar's Blackfire Pass and Nagash's (or Settra's) civil war of Nehekhara.

I don't know exactly, but maybe CA always have to pay a small licence fee to Games Workshop every time they add in a new race (faction)? If that is the case CA have to add that fee on top of their price for the product (and to a DLC). Anyway... I am sure the DLC is of a very high Quality... but... CA have to be very careful in chosing the price... because... the Mod Scene could themselves add new factions... but for me I will buy that DLC... 18 Bugs is high, right, but you will get much for it.

I doubt it, unless said DLC comes with a brand new 20 hour campaign like the Beastmen.
I feel Total Warhammer fans are getting very whiny, stating "the price!" and bringing up dlcs in the past which brought many more factions and campaigns. First of all, that was easier then because you use the same skeleton model and simply reskin, a rinse and repeat. But this is quality having to create totally new skeletons with their own look and feel. Secondly, the level in which this game is felt at and how it play is miles ahead of that of Rome 2 and I would say better than Shogun 2 . So be a little more appreciative because these guys are working hard to give us an awesome gaming experience.
tbh I don't have a problem with the price of this DLC because at least its a proper DLC i.e. mini game, whole new game play HOWEVER charging for 'Blood and Gore' i.e. a graphics opinion is a straight piss take

I'm still a little salty over the Chaos and gore being chunked out into DLC packs, but overall I've been very impressed with this game so far and intend to purchase the new races as they come out. Bravo, CA, bravo.
How will the different gods of chaos and their interaction with the Beastmen be handled?
For example: Can I, after progressing in the Beastmens "tech-tree", choose which god I want an individual unit of Minotaurs to be dedicated too?
$20 for a MAJOR warhammer race with only one lord choice, two hero choices, and one new big monster even though the beastmen are all about big monsters. Missing several iconic units and even a core unit. Shame on you CA...

It looks like the running/charging animation doesn't feel grounded. And the axe went missing, one pointed horn turned to two. Other than that, great model, sfx and the atmosphere.

People who complain about price, don't buy it. Enough said, beating a dead horse way to much now.
For me this DLC should cost 10 €, but i will pay this 8 € extra for one of coolest races :)

In Total Warhammer 3, At least Khorne factions have some Beastman of Minotaur
