    To be fair... "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" was a hell of a film. Jack Nicholson's McMurphy character was an incredible portrayal. No shame losing to that.

    My father said "Assault on Precinct 13" was such a breath of fresh air. Carpenter put a Black actor, Austin Stoker, in a commanding lead role in an action drama in 1976. My father said that was not common except in the blaxploitati9n films. The remake with Ethan Hawke was not bad, either.

    Dog Day Afternoon is a great film but it came out in a stellar movie year, 1975. It was not snubbed by the Oscars - it won best Screenplay - but a classic is not measured by awards. Note: Meryl Streep loves it because it has her boyfriend in it (John Cazale)

    Movies today are not movies. Even Hollywood can’t call them movies, more like fillers in between shows (commercials).
