      Genuinely asking because I don’t understand. How is that discipline if the kid is laughing and having to be told several times to “get in the corner”? She even told her mom “no” at the end of the short. Like is she actually learning anything?

      @@joyfullyjhordyyes, but she’s being firm. Some kids aren’t as quick to learn as others. That’s not the parents fault for most of the time. Even when Blakley was laughing, she was being stern

      @@Latte_girl1113 thank you for your response. So is it about consistency for the child rather than what’s actually being said by the parent? The child didn’t seem to care or understand what the mother was actually saying, but because of the mother’s tone, the child felt remorse? I guess I should do my own research on children’s psychology, UA-cam can only teach so much 🙃

      Discipline literally means to make a disciple out of another (ie: showing the way). The mom didn't "discipline" her daughter, because she didn't show her what she wanted her to do. By pointing out every mistake and looking for issues without giving any solutions, you're not helping anyone.
      Imagine you're learning a new instrument/dance/language/job position, and all your instructor/manager did was point out your mistakes ("wrong, wrong, wrong again"), without offering you any solutions ("this is how you play this note/do this move/read this sentence/organise these files"), you'll feel like you're being setup for failure. That's what the mom did here, she pointed out what the child was doing wrong without offering a solution, and the kid is literally learning new life skills. For her age it's actually brain developmentally appropriate (she cannot control her body to differentiate rough vs gentle touch), yet mom didn't show her what gentle touch looked like. Of course she goes straight back to what she was doing b4 without understanding what mom was upset about in the first place. Tbh, the child wanted to expend all her energy at this moment, but mom was having none of that. The one who really needed to give themselves a time out (break) was the mom, not the kid.

      first she is just two - she will answer what she feels is expected. and "Yes" worked the first time so she repeats it. also mom slaps her - how do you think these hairs are done. this is a long and painfull procedure for a two year old. also it feels like tension on the skin of the head. so how you think she is tought to not pull it off. not by time out but by physical "intervention". so she is familiar with the concept that this is right.

      Kids growing up with love and respect (for themselves) don't even ever get the idea to hit an animal or anything... they only copy what they learn and see.. now she only gets the idea punishment and forced apology is a good thing.. 😅 there are 1000 ways to teach a child to be nice (to others AND themselves), but NOT being nice to them isn't one of them

    • @lunaloveless7234
      @lunaloveless7234 7 місяців тому +8

      Interesting how she's not able to prevent this with her parenting tactics. Seems like she's using the wrong outdated ones that we know don't work.

    • @lunaloveless7234
      @lunaloveless7234 7 місяців тому +7

      @Cara84de Exactly. This parenting tactic is awful and causing this behaviour. I have a degree in child development and this is so outdated and ineffective. It's not normal for a kid to even get the idea of hitting an animal unless the parenting allows it. This child is way too young for this to even make sense to them too hense the giggling.

    • @joannestark3023
      @joannestark3023 7 місяців тому +1

      Yet failing to understand that this child does not yet have the impulse control to stop themself from hitting the dog. That will come with supervised time with the animals and with brain development, the latter of which can't be rushed. Child hits dog? Redirect to a different activity. And having the kid apologize to the dog is just ridiculous. Forced apologies are not genuine; kid isn't being taught the meaning of, "I'm sorry," by being forced to say it just because an adult tells them to. And honestly, the dog doesn't care. A child understanding I did this and I hurt someone else doesn't really happen until they're like 5 or 6.

      Have you ever watched dogs play?
      They aren't gentle. They are animals.

      Kids who smile after hurting animals become adults who smile after hurting people.

    • @joannestark3023
      @joannestark3023 7 місяців тому

      @@ljavwa3459 I'd be more concerned if the child was like 8 or 9 and smiled after deliberately hurting an animal because that's well after the age when understanding of empathy starts to develop. Yes, toddler does need redirection and supervision around pets and animals because they don't fully understand that what they're doing to the dog is hurting him. They need a lot of reminding and redirecting to alternative activities during the toddler stage. They won't be able to be distracted every time and tears and upset will be part of the learning process inevitably, but the point is, they don't have the impulse control to stop themself from hurting the dog so it's the adult's job to be present with them and to keep both dog and child safe. Generally, an eight or nine-year-old child can stop themself from harming animals if they have people in their lives to teach them right from wrong and do it consistently both through words and through modeling what that looks like.

      so silly. the child is nice but a bit rough. mom is much rougher - how do you think you hold this kid by head and arms and shoulders to get these hairs done. there are some hard grips that hurt! and then she makes the child catch the dog, fall over the dog - what a silly thing to train a child. i tought children with severe missbehaviour to be good with dogs. but not in a powerplay of power and submission but by creating the right experience. but mom is just full of herself in creating her little robot doll. the child is still laughing to appease her but soon will get pale when she hears this voice. no laughing. no appeasement - she will learn that this does not work. there will be no mercy. she will be in her head soon. but with the pain inside. she will act out on the dog but learn not to be caught. this sweet little girl will soon be a difficult or broken one.

    Time outs don't work. Just saying apologize properly doesn't work. No child ever was in time out and thought " oh what I did was wrong"
    Blakey is so used to time out she doesn't even care.
    So what helps, especially in this age, is calmly explaining what happened
    " blakey, you hit him, that is hurting. Do you understand that? You want to hurt him? No? Ok what could you do to make it up? (If she has no idea how, give some solutions) you could apologize, or hug him, or pet him or maybe bring him a treat. What would you like to do?"
    If she doesn't see she did anyrhimg wrong explain the consequences " if you hurt the dog you can't play with him anymore. We need to be able to trust you while playing, so think about it, if hurting animals is really something you want to do. When you feel sorry, please show him"
