    How to replace a battery in the Ford Ranger T6.
    The battery I used was from Halfords, but the Bosch battery here is pretty much identical.

    I have the spanner light up which relaters to powertrain as on your laptop but Im convinced its because I don't use the truck much and i don't trickle charge the battery when not in use

      Entirely possible. Low battery does sometimes mean all the modules don't have the required voltage to load properly.

    Mine had these exact faults last year. As it was under a used car warranty it went to ford. After the first 3.5 weeks ford changed both front ABS sensors which did fix the ABS, traction control and parking faults.
    Second visit after a week they decided I had a faulty tyre sensor and would have to change them one at a time to find the faulty one. I was going to buy a 'delete' box for the MOT but managed to get a set of 1000 mile wheels and tyres from Ebay very cheap.
    Stop start still did not work so on the 3rd visit they decided I needed a new battery, I declined their £450 quote and went to Halfords and got the same battery as you, halfords refused to do the free install as supposedly the car needed programming after. So back to ford for the battery install. Been fine since.
    Battery will pass testing but voltage is fractionally too low for the ford ECU's.

    Remember that ,had to do it a few times, my bro in law said when the battery gets low the truck will start shutting things down to save the power ,also I had the truck cut out a few times after fitting a new battery and it would not idle ,he said the truck will be fine after a few drives out as the truck will remmber to 're set it's self

      I think a reset might occur when the battery has been disconnected for a little while. 👍 ABS sensor video coming tomorrow as a "Part 2" as the battery didnt solve everything

    Once the Battery is remove all is reset. Other people they put some battery connected to the terminal in order not to reset the computer box while removing the dead battery.

    Interesting video, there were a lot of connections on the live terminal, thankfully my Škoda Fabia is much more simple, just one live and one earth connection, I’m looking into buying a trickle charger, can you recommend a good one please?.

    Should I worry about SYNC3 if battery gets disconnected? Is writing down audio key code no longer necessary?

    I have exactly the same faults flashing up on my 2019 Ranger. Battery at 12.2V. Charged battery to 13.9V and left connected to jump leads to another fully charged battery. On starting the car the faults still remained. The battery will be replaced but why did the faults remain when connected to the good battery.

    • @DetailingandtheBeast
      @DetailingandtheBeast  3 роки тому +1

      Theres a followup video to this where it turned out to be a faulty ABS sensor!

    • @malcolmmagee3195
      @malcolmmagee3195 3 роки тому

      Yes I watched that as well but you didn't mention wat the faults were that remained. In the battery vlog did you test your battery voltage before you changed the battery? If so what was it? After you fit the new battery most of the faults cleared like Hill descent malfunction, ESC service required, pre collision assist not available and when put in gear check park pilot. Your ABS light also went off and the ESC light. What warning reappeared after your road test.

      So before I replaced the battery I had it on ForScan. All those listed were present (in the codes and on the dash) as well as number only in the codes, which were loads of short circuit ones for fogs, sidelights, reverse lights, and some for parking sensors and the BCM module being low voltage.
      As soon as the road test happened, the dash ones all came back Hill descent, the park pilot, and the ABS check module. Those all then went properly when I replaced the front right sensor (the sensor was named within forscan).

    • @malcolmmagee3195
      @malcolmmagee3195 3 роки тому

      Thanks very much, I don't have forscan but I have the error messages on the instrument panel. I guess it's possible I have a bad battery and a faulty sensor.

    When I had my battery changed on my Kuga the garage said the car required that it be told a new battery had been fitted otherwise the computer thinks it’s still on the old battery
    I’ve no idea how to do it lol

    • @DetailingandtheBeast

      Never heard that before! I know new headlight ballast etc needing coding, so I suppose it is possibly. But it's not caused any issues on the Ranger

      @@DetailingandtheBeast me neither mate, so I asked on the owners group and got a mixed response, good news is the battery has been on the car 6mths with no issues, i hope you don't either

    • @Chris_8270
      @Chris_8270 3 роки тому

      Yes some cars need the battery to be coded/registered like BMW for example, its mainly to tell the car a new battery is fitted and can adjust how much energy it needs to recharge the battery so the older the battery the more energy it needs. If you don't do you could end up over charging, under charging the battery or cause electrical problems
