  • Kootenay Pass - January 2023
I had my eye on this Coulier for several years. The stars aligned this day whereby the weather, wind and snow conditions were PERFECT!
Solo Ski Touring with my trusty companion, Jetta. Jetta is a 10 year old Siberian Husky who has been ski touring with me since I rescued her at 10 months old from the Terrace, BC animal shelter.
Fun Fact: There are only limited days where conditions are ripe for a solo tour in Complex and Challenging Avalanche terrain. Especially when I ski solo. That day was perfect!
I call this the Million Dollar run because Jetta made dollar signs from my ski track from ridgetop.

Great views and footage. Out of my own curiosity, what type of avalanche precautions do you take?

Good question. I read the Avalanche Canada post before each ski the day. I observe changing weather and snow conditions, continuously. When I ski alone, I stick to well supported terrain and avoid convexities. I carry a transponder 24/7.

Looks like Mt Baker Ski Area backcountry. Definitely PNW

Looks like you start out in a terrain trap gully.

Well supported but yes, a terrain trap nonetheless.

You going out alone often? Scary stuff...
