    I watched this show with my boyfriend just a few weeks before he killed himself. I watched it again right after he died. I have not seen a piece of art that treats death in such a beautiful and wholesome way. I'm still dealing with grief, but I feel that it would have taken me way too much time to process his death if I hadn't watched this show. If there is someone reading the comments who has not watched the show yet, please do yourself a favor and watch it.

    • @talkingnart1563
      @talkingnart1563 4 роки тому +38

      Lost a good friend to that as well back in 2013. I'm sad, he never got to see Rick and Mortys rise and fall and maybe rise again?, the series known as Bojack Horseman, and of course this series, The Midnight Gospel, which I know he would have loved. He lived for stuff like Regular Show and, Adventure Time but, at the same time its really hard for me to consider because, he wasn't into politics and the internet, has devolved into such a political and divisive landscape, and I don't know if I would've wanted him to see something that he loved turn into what it has. I've been missing him for a very very long time, and its hard to think that in 3 years it'll be 10 years since he died. Knowing what life was like without him was what stopped me from ending it all when I went through a very rough spot in life. It's been really rough, because, in the years after his death I helped take care of his mom who, had extremely bad health problems, and when she died in 2015, I remember her claiming to see her son walk through the front door one time. I really wish I handled talking to him better, and I wish I handled his loss better, because, I remember having very vivid dreams about his decaying corpse on the road, telling me that I let that happen. Of course you know a 10 year old shouldn't be having dreams like that, but I was a kid. Now I'm 17, and a lot of my last few years have been me coming to terms with moving on from my past mistakes and misteps I've taken.

My mom said that after my grandmother and great aunt died she had dreams of having to take care of them as they were decomposing. She lived hundreds of miles away when they passed, but couldn't shake the guilt. You being ten years old at the time certainly monkey wrenched an already terrible situation. Sorry you had to endure that so young. Edit: if you're coming to terms with mistakes at 17 you're very conscientious. I was too busy feeling sorry for myself at your age.

    The Midnight Gospel is a good show, everyone expected it to be Adventure Time on acid or something. Kinda, it’s more like an elaborate animated podcast while Duncan Trussel voices the straight-forward character Clancy and his animated guests who can be whatever. The lines are completely improvised like Interdemensional Cable, while things go nuts like in endings of episodes of Superjail. It’s an awesome, vivid and surprisingly meaningful experience and I can’t recommend this show enough.

      And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

    This show was taking out of Duncan's Trussels podcast " the family hour" and he put it into this fun way of different worlds that tell it's own story yet still talking about the fundamentals of life, death, creation, & meditation. These people in the show are real people telling their stories and perspectives. Even in the last episode, Duncan "interviewed" his real mom on her death bed which she died just two days later. That whole last episode was a tear jerker and definitely makes you think on life and death. Highly recommend if you want new perspective on things.

      @@bananaflavouredtea8044 But the dialogue for this show is taken directly from Duncan's podcast. There is no way they could water it down bc those are real people. Theres lots of good episodes on his podcast that didnt appear on this season, so I guess a second season would be nice too (with a different character maybe)

      @@teowachowski1143 Yeah, i didn't mean they could ruin the podcast part itself, but more like the overall feel and multi-layerness (is that a word?) and the overarching theme of the show itself. But when i think about it, i feel like it's safe with these guys making more great episodes in the future.

    Amazing series. The animation is so complex and tied to the dialogue in fun ways, and the last episode was so genuine, I was crying buckets. Just scrolling through these comments and seeing how the show has similarly touched/comforted other people is making me tear up. It would be a dream to work on a project like this some day

    This show came at a time when I’ve been doing a lot more to explore more eastern centric views on spirituality. And this felt like a breath of fresh air when most shows that tried anything philosophical had the depth of Ricky gervais explaining nihilism

    About a week before I watched this show someone very close and dear to me passed away in my arms. I was in a very confused and complicated state and in a way I still am but watching this show with all the weird psychedelic visuals and hearing all those people talk about their individual philosophies and spiritualities helped give me some perspective on everything that had transpired and will come after this.
    Not saying that these are the answers to the universe but it's comforting to be reminded that even if you're suffering now it's not the constant and everyone around you are all in the same boat and that we'll all experience loss in one way or another in this life we live.
