Absolute legend. I’ve supported United for nearly 40 years. I’ve never really been into any 1 player as it’s always about the club being successful but Robbo was the exception. My football hero. It’s a shame he didn’t get to play in the really great teams of the 90s and 00s. He deserved so much more success than he got. But the main thing is he did eventually get to experience 2 league titles.
He wasn’t called captain marvel for nothing, amazing footballer a leader & captain and fearless too, better than Kean imo…..an absolute legend…..THE number 7….. loved you Robbo, still do.
I remember once when there was a very important game coming up and Robbo was injured was ruled out for the game, but on the day of the game everyone was shocked to see he was named as a sub. We won the game and Robbo never came on, afterwards Atkinson was asked would he have put Robbo on if it didn't look like we was going to win, Atkinson said no because he was to badly injured to play, so the obvious question was then asked, why did you have him as a sub, Atkinson replied that he wanted to unsettle the opposition because they THOUGHT he might come on at some point in the game. That to me sums up the respect all players had for his abilities on the field .... and he's a really nice guy as well.
Ah Robbo, Fergie... what great times. Robbo was a great in bang average sides and was retired by the time sir alex turned united around. He would have won more leagues or a champions league too in the early great Ferguson sides if he was a bit younger... my hero as a kid...
The comparison between Keane and Robson as captains is easily justified. I couldn’t pick one over the other, all I know is we shall be lucky to see their like again as Captains. I didn’t see Roger Byrne play but that’s about as far as you need to go back to find somebody held in the same esteem. I’ve little doubt Duncan Edwards would have been in that conversation as well.
Just a shame Bryan Robson didnt enjoy playing in the team that won trophy after trophy. But at least he was in a United team that had success of Fa Cup and the league win and the cup winners cup.Great player for the United team.Even life long Liverpool fan and ex Liverpool player Gerard was a big fan of Robbo.

Keane was great but Robson was the best. Better goal scorer, better on the ball and much better temperament.Inspirational to his team mates.
