I enjoyed that because I only a few days ago scanned all of my slides from the same time period as your mom. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a nice slide copying set up as yours. Doing so brought back some wonderful memories. By the way, that plastic cube you placed those slides into is from a a Bell and Howell slide projector system I used back in the days. Time changes and time goes by. When you’re older and your kids are your age, they won’t experience the joy of scanning and editing slides. They will have digital files to view. Which leads me to wonder what format they will be using in their time. I traveled to every province in Canada, but missed going to Newfoundland. I so regret that. Hopefully one day I will while there’s still time. One thing I remember a “Newfie” telling me. “stay where you’re at, and I’ll come where you’re to.” Thanks for sharing. 👍
Really appreciate your comment. Completely agreed about only having digital files to view (luckily I shoot film and archive my negatives!). Love your quote about the Newfie you met hahaha.
I have my grandfathers Contax Zeiss 50 2.0 and his rangefinder. I have adapted the lens to my R6m2 and it’s amazing. 72 year old lens with the dents that happen when he fell off a moving platform and broke his back in 1960.
great video mate. shows the importance of making physical things. We get so tied to hard drives etc these days that it makes me worried we can lose everything. I dont have that feeling when im shooting film
100% - something tangible and real like film feels much more substantial than a digital photo somewhere. Appreciate you watching and stoked this resonated with you
This is why I make a point to go through and print a lot of my photos from each year and put them in an album. They are all backed up of course but years from now when I kick it maybe someone's kid will be interested in that old guys pictures of the family and way back then.
The photo at 14:15 is indeed Italy, more precisely Venice photographed from the Ponte degli Scalzi!
Wow, thanks for confirming that - so neat!
Awesome, I love finding old pictures like this.
Thanks Paul - agreed so much fun!

It is a tribute to the fact that Kodachrome is so great I have slides from 1968 and look like the day I shot them
