It shows how crazy the power level is in standard right now that top tier strategies in standard are also performing well in pioneer. Not that I have a problem with it, standard is a lot of fun to play right now. But it does show how this larger standard where sets stick around for longer can potentially lead to more power creep
Gmae 2: I disagree with not holding the counterspell. You were at a point that you were starting to stabilize so the draw 2 and copy a Ledger Shredder would have been pointless if they'd slammed a land and Ygra and won the game on the spot. Playing to win vs playing to not lose only really applies when you've got a path through whatever your opponent does. When you're up against an "I win" combo like that (and 2/3s of it is on the board) #1 priority is not letting that combo go off. Get through the first Ygra and then you start piling on the threats
I have my eye on the like button. After thorough inspection of said button, i can confidently say: it's been pressed. I absolutely love this deck. I will probably copy this shell for an idea i have :D Keep up the great work here, Jim! I am still sad i didn't get to see you during Pro tour Amsterdam. I genuinely hope the next time you're in the NL, i can get a signature on my favourite card :D
I built this for standard and i had about a 80% win rate against mono red and about a 70% win rate against everything else. Very good and fun deck and surprisingly consistent. Hope your build dose as good as it has for me❤
I have been considering getting back into paper magic again and pioneer seems where it is at. This deck looks exactly what I am looking for with a heavy control side but still a tempo plan to close out the game. Those prices are brutal though. I knew the eye would go up but it's already over 100 Canadian fun bucks for a playset. I left magic a decade ago because it was becoming to much of a hassle to always be trading up my cards about 6 months before rotation to make sure I did not have to spend $200 on singles every rotation to keep in the game. Now that $200 would get me halfway to 1 single deck, haha. For now I might just keep enjoying my 1 or 2 paper drafts for the fun each month until I can build up enough cardboard to trade up for most of a deck.
I really wish ud just play real pioneer once in awhile, because simiular to explorer they are not close enough to call them the same... i really miss the mtgo content as you do a much better job explaining things (maybe as a way to make up for the more boring interface) and you on average play agnist more meta decks making it better content for comptetaive players

I think WOE/LCI/MKM/OTJ/BLB were ok for standard. Duskmourn is an outlier. It reminds me of og Eldraine.
Yeah the power level of Duskmourn is insane. Like we’re seeing in Bronze to Mythic that an overstatted creature with upside isn’t a snap pick.
I don't normally comment, but I think this is a super sweet list and I would be excited to see the standard version of this deck!
It’s on the to do list
Holy hell, what a match! The deck seems super sweet. Matchups like these is why I love pioneer so much!
"Don't chase your wins or your losses" I respect that.
Definitely good with these one-game vids when games are as back-and-forth as that was.
The ability to manifest an eye with an eye is so nuts
Eye for an eye makes your opponent go blind!
Familiar has been returned 8 million times 😊

what a game. such a scrappy round 2, such a satisfying round 3!
That was a really cool match! This set has some really cool cards in it. Hopefully with more comments more people see this match!
"at least 12" was literally my exact answer to that question too!
What a match! Great games Jim, thanks for the awesome content!
50 minute video
chapters: match one
let's go babeee
It’s a hell of a match
Ive been playing a standard version of this for a bit now and was thinking about the pioneer version yesterday! Jim coming in from the top rope!
I like it when karn the dog is on the screen
This looks like a great home for my pet card, Thing in the Ice!
Match one was a truly incredible display

How can you not boop this doggo's extremely boopable nose all the time?!
nice
KARN has invaded the screen!! Bork bork
Occulus has been shooting up in price before i could finish my set what a shame.
The food decks are so durdly too - makes me not even want to play arena.
what the dog doin
Is Restless Anchorage a better control finisher than Celestial Colonnade?
Colonnade isnt legal in the format.
@@devinanni8117 that's not the question I asked
Thumbnail is horrifying 😂😂😂
Jim what the hell is that thumbnail…
69th like, nice

Someone needs to confiscate the sound board from this man.
