Which is funny in itself, cause Gohan is *not* an adult in the Buu Saga. He's 16 to 17 years old, which means he's still a minor. Funimation and their "corrections".

@@lordkai59 so, trying to clear things up for myself because no matter where I look I get both answers, how old was Gohan, his physical age including the physical year he spent in the Time Chamber? I always thought he was 11, but the time skip was 7 years from Cell to Buu saga. That would mean he’s have to be 9 when he fought cell, since the manga blatantly states he’s 16. I saw that he’s actually 10/11, right around there, since he was 9, just about 10 when going into the time chamber, and 10, maybe 11 already or very close to that when coming out with Goku. It’s all scuffed. I like to think he’s 9 going into the chamber, and just about or maybe actually just turned 11. Though I’m not sure if Gohan has a canon D.O.B. Idk. Dragon ball punch thing hard and shoot big beam haha

In the manga, he's 10 (9 due to the time chamber)
But in the anime, he's 11. But that's in the Original run of z. In Kai, he's the same age as the manga as they point out he's 16 in the buu arc.
When the buu arc starts in the manga, he's 16. There's a dragon ball wiki. It should have his D.O.B.
@@lordkai59 I wouldn't trust the wiki on that, as officially, there's no canon date of birth for Gohan. The only thing we know is that he was born sometime in May.
Dragonball was wayyyy more comedy than ever anything serious. Akira Toriyama was always about the humor before anything else. DragonballZ became more serious, but it never left it roots.
And super has a really weird balance, but when they want, it still works

The Buu arc especially, Toriyama just went off the wall with and did whatever he wanted after being pushed to change things constantly in the Android / Cell sagas.
All the best and longest running shonen tend to have a lot of weird and goofy stuff. Like DB, Jojo and One Piece.

Buu did blow up the earth. It is there again while they were making the spirit bomb because a wish was made from the Namekian Dragonballs to bring it back.
The last scenes talking about a "black freeza" and Goku being black is referencing Super (black freeza just happened fairly recently in the manga) 😅

The world tournament scene with uub was a time skip at the end of dbz. The retcon is that dbs takes place in that missing time.
Goku’s English voice actor didn’t pass out from screaming for the Super Saiyan 3 transformation (he ALMOST did, but didn’t), he passed out from screaming for the Super Saiyan 4 transformation.
He passed out doing a ssj4 Kamehameha. He didn't really need to scream for ssj4 transformation
But the general point here is that recording for main characters in Dragon Ball is a hazard to your health. The main cast has stated in interviews that in the early days when they didn't know better they seriously messed up their throats so bad that they would lose their voice for days at a time after a session. At this point they have it down to a science. They save all the battle scenes for the end of a session, after they recorded lots of dialogue, they record a set of screams, then they promptly end the session and give the actor as much time as possible to rest before the next session.

The Buu bits are kinda weird, they make a ton of sense if you've seen the original but if not its not gonna work quite like DBZA sadly. Wish they did the full saga but this is a close second. Love your vids guys

In Dragon Ball (so kid-Goku era) Goku looked for help from a fortuneteller (who btw happened to be Roshi's sister) and in the challenges she provided she had brought Goku's grandpa Gohan back from the dead for a day. Goku got the same deal in Buu Saga for the tournament.

They changed the whole feeling of the showz even the music, so yeah.
And the only problem of the sub version would be Goku's childish voice, but you get used to it.
Goku Black was miles better in japanese than in the dub.

Hey, so the english voice actor for Goku "Sean Schemmel" has gone on record saying that it was not the "even further beyond" scene that made him pass out, it was a scene from GT. I believe he said it was a mix of lack of sleep & dehydration/hunger that made him faint.
So the epilogue of Dragon Ball Z which was those last two scenes, which was made before GT and obviously way before Super, takes place canonically AFTER Super currently, but before GT. With the existence of Super, the canonicity of that epilogue is now debated, but since it hasn't reached that point yet it still works, kind of. GT is technically non-canon, but it also currently exists in a point in the timeline that the canon hasn't reached yet so if Toriyama came up with an explanation for why a lot of Super characters disappear from the story and God Ki & its transformations seemingly stop being a thing, it could be canon, but most people would prefer it never be. I do want Super Saiyan 4 back though.
I feel like SSJ4 could work as a rage transformation for Gohan/Broly much the way SSJ Blue is SSJ stacked ontop of God Ki it would be SSJ ontop of "Beast". With the introduction of Beast and the theorized way Gohan is going to train Broly to do much the same could definitely make sense to bring it back.

The reason Goku got to come back is because people who keep their body in otherworld are gifted the choice of having a single day back in the living world as a reward for the good they did while they were alive.
Keeping their bodies is a bit of a privilege, yes. And a reward.
For Goku and co., and basically, anyone who's spent their lives doing good for others.
It's why Piccolo tells Vegeta that, after sacrificing himself, he'd go straight to hell; because a single good deed wasn't going to erase everything else he'd done. (all the planets he'd attacked when he worked for Freezer, all the people he'd killed, etc.)
@@MrJamaigar It is kind of weird the grander implications of the dragon balls when paired with everything else we know about the DB afterlife. It's implied and stated both that all people continue into the afterlife and also that hell is basically instant obliteration into reincarnation, this goes out the window with Dragon Balls though because resurrecting someone who's already reincarnated makes no sense.
Apparently the worst of the worst and the best of the best get to keep their bodies, everyone else gets recycled till they become one of the two.

All scenes of villains fooling around in hell, with halos on their heads, are anime filler. Hell is never shown in the Dragon Ball manga, nor are villains ever seen again after getting killed.
Piccolo explaining to Vegeta how hell works was the only time the manga brought that up.
Oob , as you might remember , is Majin Buu reincarnated, with no memories of his former life. Repentance is the first step towards purification, before the soul can reincarnate.
Piccolo tells Vegeta that this would happen to him too when they sent him to hell. But eventually they had to send Vegeta back to Earth to help fight Super Buu. Then he and Goku fused, and the rest is history.

Y'know... people always gave the Buu Spirit Bomb some flak. I always thought it actually made sense since the Spirit Bomb is something that was stronger the more evil the opponent. Kid Buu is that pure form of chaotic evil making it the most effective attack.
I also remember thinking "Why didn't he grab Gohan..."
I think this is a happy medium between nothing and a full series. Glad we got the Buu Bits.

Apparently the kid buu blowing up the earth happened so quick Goku didn't have enough time to grab the boys and Piccolo along with Hercule and Dende.

All the stuff with the Z Sword and the Mystic form just felt like it didn't really pay off fully.
(At 24:04) they even cut out how Majin Buu pulled a "Kami" and release the evil of Evil Buu, just like Kami did with King Piccolo.

That made him split into good buu and evil buu, evil buul is this weird looking gray husk, evil buu absorbs good buu, becoming super buu, super buu absorbs picolo and gotenks, gotenks defuses and reverst to only piccolo, suber buu absorbs gohan, vegito reverts suber buu to normal super buu, and super buu gets mad, reverting to kid buu (his original form before any of this), and blows up earth.
Earth comes back because they used the dragon balls.
They managed to wish earth back using the namekin dragon balls

for context on those last clips. That was in the original dragon ball Z story it was called the end of Z special and took place 10 years after the buu saga. The joke there was that with Dragon Ball Super being created as a show in between that time frame a lot of stuff has seemingly been retconned from that ending. and Uub being the reincarnation of buu is no theory, it's flat out stated multiple times that as goku killed Majin buu, he wished he could come back as a good guy so he could fight him one day, and that wish manifested itself as Uub. which is why he flies away to train him in the end
29:15 no no no, you were right. Earth did indeed went BOOM from Kid Buu. They had a plan to use the spirit bomb by wishing Earth back with Namek's dragonballs so Goku could get the energy from there to use it...I believe (also originally...using the Spirit Bomb was Vegeta's idea...ironically)

Uub is the reincarnation of the small evil Buu. When Goku threw the spirit bomb he wished that Buu would return so they could fight again. King Yemma heard his request and made it happen.
Totally not Mark basically commissioned TFS to make a "couple scenes" for his DBZ Buu Saga review and they made basically 30 minutes of content about it.
The reason they referenced super in the last clips was cus that episode in dbz takes place later in the timeline
The end with Goku in the blue top is from the end of Z which is timed a long time after Z. I forget exactly, but they were talking about Beerus, Jiren, and black Frieza because they still happened before the end of Z.

Few corrections for a few things that were said
1 goku got to come back for a day for a world tournament and it was because hes been a good boy his whole life
2 when the dog died buu did indeed go berserk but when that happened the collective evil within him was made manifest in the form of evil buu which absorbed the fat buu giving us the buu in the clip with gohan stsnding next to him (also known as super buu
3 the clip after shows whats mostly referred to as Buutenks which is the form he took after absorbing both piccolo and gotenks. Funnily enough he has the same time limit that gotenks has also and he turns back into the piccolo version (also known as Buuiccolo or buu piccolo)
4 Vegito actually got absorbed on purpose to save gohan trunks goten and piccolo. Why they did this when they had the damn dragonballs is beyond me. Anyways they defused inside buu and then rescued everybody and then noticed the fat buu was in there. So for shits and giggles they freed him too. Unbeknownst to them however without the fat buu or good buu to hold him in check kid buu was born which was his original form. He's the fat buu because he absorbed one of the other Supreme kais who was a big dude. Kid buu is a menace in that as soon as he was done transforming legit blew up the earth. A lot of people myself included believe that kid buu isnt even the strongest version of buu because he's just berserk. Buuhan on the otherhand (when he had everybody including gohan absorbed) had piccolo and gohans intelligence so he was more dangerous. Kid buu is just the unga bunga version of them
5 the earth was brought back with everybody living on it because of the namekian dragonballs (cause why only have one set of magical wish granting orbs when you can have 2?)
6 the end of the buu bits is in a 10 year timeskip after buu is defeated. That was the original ending of Z. What they didnt take into consideration with super was that pan being born early completely throws the ending of Z out of the window. Cause trunks and goten are teenagers while pan is 3 or 4 years old. Now in super pan was born and trunks and goten are still kids. Which throws the timeline away because of that
7 Uub is the reincarnation of buu like Ruff said. To add onto that back when they were destroying kid buu with the spirit bomb (it actually worked for the one and only time in the series out of 3 attempts) goku said that he hoped that buu would reincarnate into somebody good and that he wished theyd meet again. So that's how uub came in. He was actually mentioned in super at one point
Pan was still born at the same time (especially with her being 3 in Super Hero, which takes place 9 years into the timeskip).Goten and Trunks' ages didn't change either. They still grew in height. The timeline is still the same.
It wasn't the SSJ3 transformation. It was in Dragon Ball GT. During an appearance at London Comic-Con, Sean Schemmel admitted that he had passed out while recording Goku. However, he made a point to stress it was not during Dragon Ball Z's introduction of the Super Saiyan 3 form.
"Here's the deal. I never, ever passed out in Dragon Ball Z, but I did pass out in Dragon Ball GT," he told fans. "It was during the Super Saiyan 4 transformation, and I was really tired and hadn't been sleeping well. I just calculated the amount of air you'd need for a Kamehameha or another power-up, but I made my voice lower." The actor went on to say that lowering his voice allowed his vocal cords to widen, allowing him to let out more air than usual. As such, Schemmel miscalculated how much air he needed for the take, and he ended up passing out for 2-3 seconds. Luckily, the actor said that the recording booth was padded, so the fall was at least a cushioned one.

19:38 that's not true, just to clear up misinformation the english voice actor only passed out in one scene when voicing dragon ball in his career and it was during gt ssj4 scream. He is a really well trained actor and singer and he said because the ssj4 is so low it requires much more air so he miscalculated the time he needed to go on for so it caused him to pass out. The ssj3 scream he did just fine without passing out, or any other scream for that matter so yeah, cool stuff

Love the journey. It’s a true blessing. Hellsing abridged is a similar experience. Less epic, but only cuz it’s faster. More intense, but only cuz it’s faster. Worth the watch. But look for the “real” versions. The UA-cam versions cut a lot of copyrighted music :p
It's not even a theory, Uub just *is* the reincarnation of Buu. Right before he killed Buu with the Spirit Ball, Goku said he wished Buu could "come back as someone good" because he liked him for his strength. King Yemma apparently heard that somehow and pulled some strings to make it happen. And all the 10 Years Later footage is from the end of the original manga/anime.
I wish we got the whole season, but the bits were fantastic and really brought the abridged world together fully.
Quick version of the actual Buu arc: 7 years after school, Gohan is going to highschool, Goku is allowed 24 hours to be on earth to join his sons and Vegeta in the world martial arts tournament, during which they encounter minions of Babidi and evil wizard. After dealing with most of them, they face and are matched against Dabura the possessed demon realm king, all the fighting creates enough energy to wake up the ancient being majin buu who once destroyed worlds but became childlike after absorbing a friendly god. Buu eventually turns on Babidi and Dabura killing them, he can regenerate any damaged part of himself, and Goku goes super Saiyan 3 to hold Buu off which runs out the time he is able to stay on earth. This breaks Vegeta's heart, knowing Goku was so much stronger, and he blows ihmself up to kill buu. It doesn't work, Mr Satan instead is the one to domesticate buu. Immediately after, a couple bad guys kill Buu's dog and nearly kill Mr. Satan. Buu becomes so angry he purges the evil form himself creating evil buu. This pure evil creature kills the bad guys and fights and eats fat buu turing them into super buu. Super buu wants to fight and eat but no one is a match for him. Trunks and Goten work on fusing themselves into a stronger self meanwhile buu kills Chi Chi, Bulma, 18, Videl and almost everyone on earth. He beats Gotenks, but Gohan who trained with the kais returns as Ultimate Gohan the strongest character. He is able to dominate buu, until buu gets the drop on him and aborbs him and the other saiyans. Goku and Vegeta fuse beat him down and remove fat buu turning him into kid buu, his original self. The planet explodes, almost everyone dies, and Vegeta distracts kid buu while they wish the earth and its inhabitants back while Goku uses the spirt bomb to save the day. Then Gohan and Videl get married, have Pan, and they go to the tournament before GT ruins her. I'm proud that I remembered all that.
You know, I just realized something about saiyans that reach the SS3 (Super Saiyan 3) form… what happened to their eyebrows?

Which does raise the question of why Goku didn't pop over, grab Gohan, pop back, and let Gohan finish this up, but that's just Toriyama's style sometimes.

Recently in the Dragonball Super manga, Vegeta actually did (barely) beat Goku in a legit fight.
Now he brings it up whenever possible with Goku dryly remarking "Highlight of your life."

To be fair, in their first most iconic fightduring the Saiyan saga, Vegeta beat Goku within an inch of his life. By any metric he won that fight. The only reason the Earth wasn't destroyed then and there is that Gohan, Krillin, and Yajirobe showed up to save him at the last minute.

Yes the jokes in that part go over a lot of people's heads. Tldr: there's a 10 year time skip between defeating Buu and the last episode of DBZ, and everyone acts like they haven't seen eachother in a decade. Then Super retconned all of this as it is set during the time skip.

So just incase if there's some missing context. Vegeto did get absorbed but not fully due to their fusion but they defused due to "Reasons" and they explored the inside of Super Buu. After which they reached to where they see cocoons of their friends and family stuck then eventually seeing "Good" Buu. After cutting off "Good" Buu they forgot to bring him with them so it laid dorment inside of the now "Kid" Buu who destroyed everyone. Its believed that Good Buu woke up inside and started causing a problem which lead to him being spat out and now fighting against Kid Buu.
I, not that long ago, rewatched the FULL Z series and well it was a trip to remember some of the not so remembered episodes.

I never got it back when i watched the OG abridged, i thought it was Gohan remembering her clam slamming him, but that was Videl remembering it, and she figuring out that eventhough he can dodge Bullets, That still happened, so that is her figuring out that he Let it happen.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Goku yelling "HOLY SHIT!" while holding the spirit bomb was the first time he cursed in the entire series lol

So Earth was blown up, although Super Buu actually killed almost everyone on Earth minus the lookout and Mr.Satan, then Kid Buu blew up the planet. Goku grabbed Vegeta, Dende, and Satan before Instant Transmissioning to the world of the Kai’s. They used the Earth and Namekian Dragon Balls to bring back Earth, revive everyone killed by Buu and the Majins, and restoring Goku’s energy.
Also, the last few scenes were from the “end of Z”, which skipped forward Ten Years after the Buu saga. Dragonball Super starts Four years after Buu, and everything so far in Super has been leading up the the next World Tournament after the Buu saga
The reason Goku was able to come back is he is friends with Master Roshi's sister and she's a Witch who can summon souls from the afterlife... for up to 24 hours.

Buu did blow up the Earth. After they got Fat Buu out of him, turning him into Kid Buu, he blew up the Earth. The reason the Earth is there at the end is because they wished it, and everyone on it, back.

Goku was granted 1 day to return to earth to fight in the tournament by Baba, that's why he's there.
So the scene you didn't understand the references was because the end of Dragon Ball Z technically takes place AFTER the events of Dragon Ball Super (all of which takes place somewhere between the end of Buu Saga and before the end of Z.) So they were just making fun of how they were trying to wrap up the conversations without really knowing how Super will play out and how recycled some of the plots were.
To be specific, Uub is the reincarnation of the evil of Buu that Goku spirit bombed.
