Just wanted to also extend my gratitude for your video! This was absolutely 100% effective and I noticed on the first wash cycle
I spent a month thinking this leak was due to a lower door seal I assumed was torn and causing the leak. On my model it would have come as a whole door assembly and cost a few hundred dollars. This was not the case. Water was running down exterior of the vent just like yours. Thank you for spending the time to make this video and post it for others to see. You have truly made a difference

This wasn't the cause of my dripping (the vent flap had become clogged with *nasty stuff* and just needed cleaning), but your video showed me the workings behind the door and gave me confidence to tear apart my model. You also helped me track how the leaks appeared on the floor based on water running down the foam behind those straps.

What vent is clogged and how did you know it was clogged. I wanna do both methods to make sure their both all set?

    Son. Of. A. Gun!
I actually had the foam issue on both sides, but I snipped the plastic as shown here just in case. Also, instead of putting a wedge between the vent and sheet metal I just bent the metal inward to give it more pressure which worked well.
    Awesome video! Very smart.

Just a fantastic job. You got pics in a pretty hard-to-see location, and your breaking the drip path was amazing. I saw the same principle used on the bottom of beams that projected under a low-pitch roof. I always wondered why there were two shallow saw cuts, and I was told it was to keep water from running down the beam's length and wetting the home's wall. Now we see it in action!
You demonstrate the necessity of CAREFUL observation of a problem. Don't jump to conclusions. Masterful. Also, good shots of the internals of a Samsung dishwasher door. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this. My dishwasher has only been in less than 2 months. I just put that front panel on a week or so ago, after no issues. Today, it leaked, and my first thought is that it had something to do with the front plate. After inspecting our dishes that we loaded, my wife felt like there was pressure on the door. I thinks she's right, especially after watching this video. I don't think it takes much. Disappointing. I will wait until the insulation in the door is dry, and then try again. I'll again wait some time before I reinstall the front guard. Again, thanks for the video.

This is fantastic. I couldn't figure out why suddenly the steam coming out of the dishwasher was so excessive and puddling on the floor. You solved it!! It's not steam. Thanks so much. BTW I love this little dishwasher simply because I can fix it myself without having to call a repair person.

Great video. I had a slightly different cause but your video gave me enough information to know where to look. I needed to take off the door panel, remove the foam pieces, and the backstrap holding on the large translucent vent piece. The "drain pan", the long black rubber/vinyl piece, was clogged with crud. There were several sets of slots where the "pan" was supposed to drain through; these were also clogged and are hopefully the reason why it has been leaking more lately, not just a few drips from the inside vent. I needed to use a boatload of q-tips and wet paper towels to clean this out, fingers were the only way to really get in there firmly with the paper towels. I made sure all of the slots were clear to drain, then reassembled. If you don't see another comment from me it means that, thanks to you, I found the fix.

This was great! Had a similar issue with leaking on the bottom right of the door, just like yours, except the foam was in the proper place in my dishwasher, BUT, the issue was the hard water crystalized buildup that caused the water to drain out where it wasnt supposed to. Cleaned up the hard water residue and no more leaks. Thank you!!!

Darn good video, and dead-on with the diagnosis. It's a shame that a tech making a home call for a major company can't have this level of reasoning and knowledge. The only thing that I might add, was I installed a length of foam door sealing tape along the retaining bracket/bar so that when the door outer cover was installed, it pressed the plastic baffle in a bit more.

  • @MarkGurathmusic

Thanks for the video. I too cleaned out the steam vent contraption and it was full of gunk. But after cleaning the leaking was worse. Then I found your instructions on taking the front of the door off. My problem was not that hole being plugged, but that the "tray" into which the water was flowing was so full of junk and yuck that the water couldn't make it's way back into the wash tub area of the dishwasher. I cleaned out a crazy amount of junk, put the door back and and it doesn't leak anymore.

Like so many others, I want to thank you. Mine was doing the same thing with dripping from the vent on the left side. A quick trim with some snips did the trick! Thank you, thank you! Too bad I also have a leak from the water inlet valve.... but that’s easy to replace.

  • @gutset628
    @gutset628 2 роки тому +1

Thank you for this video. My issue was almost certainly the foam on the right. For good measure I cleaned out a bunch of gunk that had accumulated in the “tray/channel” where the vent drips into which may have allowed water to build up and overflow. And finally for anyone following the video and has a touch control unit, watch out for wires connected to the control board on the front door panel. And further I’ve found that when disconnecting and reconnecting those wires, the panel will be unresponsive until you power cycle (unplug/plug back in) the unit.

  • @LFe007

Fixed it by cutting a section of a straw and glueing it to the small piece of plastic by the vent hole where the drip originates. Now the water runs down to the drip tray via the straw.

I would like to thank you for providing this insightful and helpful video to enable me to figure out my problem. I, too, cleaned the diaphragm first and while it was nice to know it was clean, it didn't resolve my problem. The second fix you described was my issue and a couple of snips near the plastic drip hole and some styrofoam under the strap cleared up the annoying (and damaging) water leak. And, without question, I will never buy another Samsung appliance. TVs, yes, but my fridge, dishwasher and oven will be the last appliances I purchase from them.

Thanks so much for making this video. I suspect your modification to the plastic tab did more than stuffing the foam due to the screw in the bottom left corner of the plastic body. Instead, I removed that screw and put in a machine screw & nut. This way the nut holds the screw in place on that metal band and the screw pushes the bottom left corner of the piece forward. In any case, your video gave me what I needed to see on the cause of the issue!

Very good video, I just completed your repair for similar issue with the water leak on the front where the water bridged the intended route, following your suggestions it has worked so far, I used a rotary tool to break the bridge since it was hard to get at. We have the same model Samsung, which by the way is junk, four different repairs in three years. Next failure it goes to curb. Anyone looking at Samsung appliances needs to think twice, if you buy them , buy the extended warranty,. We bought a suite, the top of the line, refrigerator has had five icemakers in it(Home Depot has been great with the extended warranty)

Great video. I was stumped on this problem as the door seal appeared to be clean and intact. Food gunk was completely blocking that tiny hole. I believe this clog may also have been causing an error code.

I just did this, we have soft water so no build up at all in 3 years, but just the past few cycles have had some draining problems on the right side. I fixed it and I'm doing a test cycle now. I used gorilla glue and did more then I probably needed, lol

Thank you doesn't even come close to expressing my appreciation. I had both issues. and had no idea why. I fashioned a funnel from a small piece of plastic milk carton handle to channel the water into the drain tray as snipping wasn't enough in my case.

Thank you!! Totally found that drip from behind the vent. I didn't have the foam issue, luckily. I'm going to add a drip pan under mine, now that I know there's a steam vent there, so the cheap press board floors don't get wetter even from the regular expected steam.

Exact same problem for me and the solution worked. In addition I discovered that I had water splashing out of the condenser outlet trough. I thought it was all part of the original leak and kept seeing my testing toilet paper getting wet. But then, with lots of parts taken off and the machine running I was able to see that it was just a little splash, there was nothing broken and I'll live with the amount of water coming out because it is so little. It happens just after the dishwasher has finished filling up, the jets come on and there is a surge of air that comes from the inside of the dishwasher into condenser trough, as it blows through the water in the trough is splashes it up and out and lands on the floor. It happens only periodically on both sides.

I put my home with all Samsung kitchen appliances and they have all had some kind of issue that I've had to fix. (Microwave, magnetron went out. Fridge, freezes and causes a pool that ends up leaking, had to buy aftermarket heater. Oven, convection fans stopped working and the LED display started going out).
    Samsung appliances kind of suck....

Hi Thanks for your video! I have the Samsung dishwasher model is DW800F600UTS. I did take apart the vent cap and yes there was a build up so I clean the vent area and between the diaphragm. I actually replaced my front door seal which was the cause of the main leak. I did some of your updates I used a dremel tool to remove the ridge, hot glue the sponges so they would not fall and put extra sponges to puts the vent system closer to the trough. Thanks for that! However, I am still trying to diagnose a small leak coming from the vent on the far left and far right side of the venting system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards Bill

Cleaning out the area with the rubber valve for the steam and scraping off some of the hard water build up off the bottom condensation vent worked for me - did not have to modify anything. However, there was a lot of disgusting sludge under the bottom door/tray rubber seal which I guess had been building up over the years.

About a year into it, the paint on the door started to bubble from a poor prep job. Samsung gave me a big runaround on that. The thing has never cleaned as well as the old Kitchenaid did. The rubbery type handles for the racks are deteriorating. And now this leak problem. JUNK.

I do Kitchen and bath remodels.. I have had so much failure out of Samsung I will never use them again.. Washers, Fridges, Dish washers , Microwaves .. They then turn around and pay for parts but not repair or replacement ... I am looking at this video for a 2 year old dishwasher...

Has anyone found an alternative strategy to repairing the vent leak? I followed the video & attempted the fixes twice with no luck. (Though I didn’t clip the vent) I see someone mentioned attaching a straw, but I wasn’t able to maneuver this. Help!

Thanks for the great video. Seems like we have the same issues. Took the whole vent apart and put it back to together without a clear resolution. Now I see the issue. Has clipping the plastic drip edge worked so far to date?

william7757 we haven’t had any further issues since I made this repair 2.5 years ago, except having to replace the control panel.

Anne Kirby thank you. We were frustrated for a very long time and I figured we couldn’t be the only ones.

How about raising the front of the dish washer some? I noticed that the condenser drain holes were clogged. I don't know how to add photos here.

Bill Gavin good thought. However, raising the front of the dishwasher then makes the front of the dishwasher uneven with the front of the cabinets, given they are level. That is, the bottom will stick out further from the cabinets than the top.
As a follow up to this video, we have now had to replace the touch panel on top of the door as well. There was a failure in the circuit board. Another $150 of parts down the drain.
