“You men eat your dinner eat your pork and beans, I eat more chicken any man ever seen.” He was being treated better than the husband.
Eating chicken IS an old timey reference to anal sex
You are right I looked it up and that’s what the lyrics say. Meaning the wife he’s having a affair with feeds her husband pork and beans while saving the chicken for him. I never put it together before, even though I new the lyrics!!!???? Duh 🙄
I'm pretty sure he's saying he gets better and more ass than any other guys do. Pretty sure chicken was black slang for white women lol. Similar to Snow Bunny 🤣
@@kikivon3501 There's also the question of what sort of "chicken" Willie Dixon was referring to 😉
This is the Doors rendition of an old blues song written by Willie Dixon. Many of Willie Dixon's songs were remade by rock & rollers: "Spoonful," "I Just Want to Make Love to You," "I Can't Quit You Baby" and "You Shook Me", to name a few.
What about Whole Lotta Love?
And women were like little Girls to Willie Dixon and Howlin Wolf.
And smokestack lightin’
The doors also did Little Red Rooster by Howlin wolf as well
One of my top favorite Doors songs...! Her husband gets pork and beans ... he gets chicken! Best line ever!
The song has a double meaning, he's getting treated better than the husband by getting better food and better 😉🐕 action 🦮
💯
"Back Door Man" isn't about doing it in the butt, but is old blues slang for a woman's side guy, the man who comes in the back door. In "Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zeppelin, there's a reference to Robert Plant being jilted in this manner - "I open up my front door, hear my back door slam, I tell you I must have one of them newfangled back doors, man!"
🤣
Maybe it's about both, right?
"It's not about butt its about coming in the back door". You just said it wasn't about the butt. I'm confused 😕
@@DaveThomson yup, it's about cumming in th back door! Now we have that settled 😅
I always wondered what the second part of that line in Since I've Been Loving You was. It's so hard to catch exactly what he's saying, but now I won't ever unhear it. Cheers.
Nobody does the poetic side of rock as well as The Doors. Freaking magicians.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)" !!
edit- he sneaks out the back door before the husband/boyfriend gets home!!
Raw and animalistic.....perfect description of the feeling of this song. This woman is in tune!
My parents took me to a Doors concert when I was about four years old. I don’t remember much except being somewhat terrified. Later on in college, I started getting into the Doors and many songs were mysteriously familiar to me, complete with subconscious images of Jim Morrison’s manic stage presence. 🖖🏼
Wow!
Me too! The Doors scared me as a young one. Then mesmerized me when I was old enough to get it.
Back door man, is the lady’s getting some outside her normal relationship. On the side, sort of speak.
A Backdoor man...is a guy that comes over to have sex with the wife of a guy that is out of town. He's called a "Backdoor man" because if the Husband came home unexpectedly, he would leave out the Backdoor. The term has been used for over a Hundred years, in Blues songs going back to the 1920s, and the original Black Blues legends of the past.
Originally, yes. In the 70's eating chicken IS a reference to anal.
Brad's right 6:20 Jim said it was about that exactly."the neighbors are trying to sleep, I'm here to make it in the midnight heat".
The lyric is I'm out to make it with my midnight creep - brilliant! Written by the great Willie Dixon.
He's the side man, other man, etc.
Jim Morrison had a powerhouse voice.
I enjoyed singing this with my band back in the 60s.
This is Jim Morrison at his whisky driven best
Yeah you can smell the whisky
Back door man back then meant he was creeping. He even says creep at the beginning. OPP for the 60's.
5 to 1 is a Doors Classic to listen to.
This was written by Willie Dixon and recorded by Howlin’ Wolf. It’s been covered by hundreds of bands. I think it’s a double entendre about someone’s side action coming in the back door and the other “ back door” 😳😉 Blues uses a lot of metaphors for sex.
You are 100# right.
In the 1970's the term "eating chicken" was a reference for eating butt. No lie
Considering what is said in songs today, I'm always amazed when this Rap generation raises its eyebrows at anything coming out of the mild-by-comparison 60s and 70s. 😅🤣😂
*Gotta love those lyric videos where they write in random vocals and the word "instrumental" as if we can't tell the difference between music and voices.*
You guys (I hope I don't offend Lex) are so fun. You get along about as well as any hosts I've seen and NONE are as entertaining as you both are together. You reactions and insights are so fun for me because I grew up with this music. Watching you listening and commenting is almost like hearing it for the first time.
Jim Morrison was singing this song to lots of women before The Doors were ever formed. It was one of his favorite tunes to riff on, when he was out and about.
My cousin was madly in love with this man. Sadly she passed about 2 years ago. I miss her silly butt
Your sister had good taste!!!! May she rest in peace🙏🏾
That first Doors album was legendary. Easily a top 5 album for me. You guys still have half the album to listen to!
Yes, “little girl” meant woman. Loved to see you react to this classic. It was never one of my favourites of theirs but it is still The Doors.
Now your getting into the heart of Jimbo n Doors..glad you got around to it imagine this as teen ager in 70's was an outrageous song !
Super awesome and easy for the whole thing to make it to the end. You two crack me up.
I love seeing Brad enjoying The Doors 👌🔥
You guys are hilarious! In the Old Blues days Back Door Man was a sort of substitute situation. The man works maybe 16 hours a day eg. Mining when he comes home he has very little sex drive and wants to eat then sleep. The wife becomes frustrated which leads to a substitute lover who visits and yes sometimes has to escape out of the Backdoor when hubby comes in through the front door. Simple as that really!
Sure but even in them old days there was plenty of backdoor sexual action 😂
In the 70's the term "eating chicken" was a reference to eating anus. No lie
Yes it’s heard in the emergency room after spending too much time with the back door man and you come in with a ravaged balloon knot
When the man of the house walks out the front door I walk in at the backdoor! this is the true meaning of this song!
One of my very favorite doors songs. Yes, it's an old song, done as only the doors could do it. It is down and dirty blues at its best.
Hey Brad (& Lex). I got what you were sayin' toward the end about the potential double meaning here. Too funny! I love you both and wish nothing but all the best for you and your soon-to-be new life as parents - that's amazing!
HILARIOUS Reaction...
When I was younger & I heard this song, I didn't get the appeal but as I got older I learned to appreciate how great & raw this song is. Like Brad's trying to get Lex to understand what he means by back door & Lex's hospital explanation was funny. Great reaction as always.
Brad hit the nail on the head...”New Orleans or Memphis”...Back Door Man was blues rock to the core.
Would love to see you two listen to The Changeling by The Doors. It will take you to church.
Every song recorded with Jim Morrison are 5 star quality songs!!!
Love these guys
They were one of the best bands ever. Change my mind.
In Southern culture, the phrase "back-door man" refers to a man having an affair with a married woman, using the back door as an exit before the husband comes home
Haha this reaction was so great lol
"Back Door Man" is a blues song written by Willie Dixon for Howlin' Wolf, released by Chess Records as a B-side to Wolf's "Wang Dang Doodle" in 1961.
Jims Tribute to Willie Dixon & Howlin Wolf. Classic.
The beginning is simulating grunts, As someone who's been around for awhile I can say theres a whole thing thats been lost to time.
You have to see them live!!
Jim was the Lizard King. He could do anything. 🔥
Nowadays Backdoor Man means something entirely different.😂😂😂
Brad will be thinking about this song for the next 18 years.
One of their best
As with most old blues songs, and especially those by Willie Dixon, It most definitely IS a double entendre...
The Doors at their dark, sinister best. You guys might be interested in checking out Howlin' Wolf's original version of the blues classic.
In the end you finally figured out what he meant.jim knew how too deliver a message.
Fuckin wicked. Love the doors.
"I eat more chicken any man ever seen, yeah!" Brad's looks like "huh? what the hell does that mean?" I'm sitting here rolling. HAHAHA! Oh! It's so good. It's so good!
When The Doors played the blues, and Morrison got that gravely voice, I feel that was them at their prime. If you like their bluesy sounds, you should check out their song "Maggie M'Gill." It's an original written by Morrison, if you want to see what they do with their own lyrics.
AC/DC also used the phrase Back Door Man in Dirty Deeds Done dirt cheap. Great minds think alike. Jimbo and Bon
this song is like a bomb going off
Back Door Man. A song about the Denotation and sexual Connotation within the same verse, brilliant.
13 years old..... Newport Beach O.C. Calif... The first album I had to buy with my own money was The Doors first album because I knew my parents would never approve of the lyrics on this song and several others...."Light My Fire"... first time I ever smoked cannabis.
You two should hear The Howling Wolf version of this song. The 'back door' man is in (or out) the back door when the husband be walking in the front door
2:15 "The men don't know, but the little girls understand." 😂
Classic Doors
Dude was drunker than cooter brown!🤣🤣🤣
Is everybody in? The ceremony's about to begin.
Jim's daddy was an Admiral. A lot of those rock stars in Laurel Canyon had high ranking government officials for parents. It's odd that none of them got drafted.
The Doors are really more of a Blues band with a Psychedelic Rock sound.
We needed more of Jim Morrison
The doors lo máximo!
Gotta do Shaman’s Blues by The Doors. Back Door Man and that one are my favorites by them
In my early 20s in my first terrace house I assembled a kit amplifier which (I now know) picked up taxi radio. One night at 3am the whole house awoke to a loud voice saying:
HE'S JUST GETTING HIS TROUSERS ON.
Lmao
Perfect song that goes with Chris pratts character “quill” aka star lord, being hybrid.
When the doors did heavy blues tunes, they did not ***k around. They went HEAVY! Makes the blues songs of, say, the Stones sound like easy listening. LOL
Even if that is a cover, great song !
The Doors: Soul Kitchen, When the Musics Over. 🔥✌
The Doors is an experience unto itself. So many great tunes. You guys should give Neon Knights a listen by Dio led Black Sabbath. I think you’ll really enjoy that one. Also maybe it’s time for some Testament or Death Angel? Two great thrash bands that were right up there with the big four.
That’s what’s up 😎
Scientists should study Lex's thought process, it's genius! 😂
Intense song
This double entendre stuff goes way back. Check out Julia Lee 'The Spinach Song'/'I Didn't Like it The First Time. 'King Size Papa', 'Lotus Blossom'. She did a lot of those kind of songs, but my favourite of hers is just a straight blues song - Dream Lucky Blues.
Julia Lee and her boyfriends. I have a couple 78's from my gramma's collection. Including spinach song. I don't think my grandma knew what it meant. I think back then the title would sound interesting or funny and people would purchase the record
Howlin Wolfs “ Saddle my Pony” 😳 naughty
Smells like fish tastes like chicken, plug your nose and keep on licking 🤣 Good one. Love the Door's...
Good one you 2. Now please play Fresh Air by Quick Silver Messanger Service.
Yes! I LOVE this song!
0:57 she suddenly gets it 😂
Yes, it's a double entendre, haha
A slice from a cut loaf isn't missed.
There will never be another Jim or the Doors.
You gotta hear the live version where Jim SCREEEEEEAAAAAAAMMMSSS
The flip Side to this would be "One Way Out"
❤️
walk in your front door hear your back door slam
It would have been fun to see Jim Morrison singing this live. There is a reason why Ed Sullivan had the Doors on the show only once and the Miami police arrested him during a concert for obscenity.
Jim was always HIGH....
bring more doors songs
Listen to Howlin Wolf - Back Door Man. The original version of the song.
I waited)
this is what trippin on 4 way window pain will make u sing like..lolol
You know this is a cover. Willie Dixon wrote it but Howlin' Wolf had the more popular version.
60's and 70's rock went so well together with drugs.
I would love to see your reactions to one of my favorite songs called Dancing in the Moonlight 🌙
1:59 Brad, in this case "little girls," mean the kids that see their mother with another man inside their house. The kids' mother is gonna say it's just the Maytag repair man but deep in the kids mind the kid knows what's going on.
