Tbf, I sometimes do that too. I game with my lights off and the rgb lights off my keyboard also disabled but I still instinctually look down even though all I see is pitch black.
@@buggart its still a lot more different than being actually blind. even if you cant really see the keyboard, you are still getting light from the monitor. and all you need was to see the layout of the keyboard to predict where the buttons should be.

The even more odd things was that tmk that technical issue is something that happens because of her trying to hit a certain key in response to something not working in the set up or something similar. What was she reacting to that caused her to keep hitting the key causing the issue? If it's a visual only issue there is no reason she would be hitting the key due to the whole being blindfolded thing.

As someone who has several VR headsets, meant to "Immerse you" into the world of Virtual Reality, you can easily see through gaps by your nose, so the fact that her blindfold is so loose leaves little doubt that she can actually see.

I was one of the few who said that this was legit. I took my L, listened to the feedback, and am quite devastated that it was fake. I didn't know her beforehand, but having a blindfolded run in any game is just amazing to witness. I was fooled by her follow-up video "Debunking" the things that called her out. I've seen some people who REALLY want to make this run seem real to the point of being delusional. I'm glad I'm not one of those people and know when I'm in the wrong. Not my proudest moment!
The thing is she seems a great gamer; being able to Kill Alatreon 4,600 times is a feat. I have played games of the series and I haven't killed a single boss monster a thousand times. I bet she's able to do a blindfold speedrun but I doubt it's possible with the way she's doing it.
@@jjhaya Blindfolded runs of just about anything generally end up being way more complicated than a lot realize. We don't really realize how important our sight is in relation to a lot of our actions in game oddly enough while overestimating our other big sense of hearing. Even runners who have nearly mastered games and played through thousands of times will flounder and struggle when sight is taken away. People who could 100% games easily start struggling getting to the first level let alone beating it. They start realizing how hard it is to even tell where they are or where enemies are and sometimes something unexpected happening can essentially spell instant death for a run since they lose all clues of positioning and everything with there being no way to realistically recover. A lot of specific strategies tend to have to be made for runs like that, like purposefully hitting walls to check position or to make sure the character is facing the right way, sometimes counting steps, or having to perform certain actions in a specific preplanned way. Blindfolded runs are really a different beast from normal runs.
There is a lock on in MH World but; 1. it snaps to a monster no smooth camera movement. 2. it locks on to the monsters center, not the head. Not to mentions she isn't using lock-on anyway as we can see with no ingame UI that usually tells you what monster you lock on, her not using the keybind for lock-on, and we can see with the mouse tracker who she moves yhe camera herself
She could’ve so easily played off the “everything will be unedited” line if she’d kept it going & it would’ve just seemed like a coincidence, but she just had to stop mid-sentence and make it awkward. People would’ve still figured it out eventually, especially how she pans the camera right in front of her character at the end, but she just made it so easy for everyone to figure out.
Her first blind fold run was cheated by using a fabric which lets her see through just enough to make decisions, when asked to show it again she had already sewn the blindfold and inserted something in-between it to show that light wasn't going through, when asked by chat to unfold the fabric like how it was used originally after the allegations came out, she banned or timed them out without showing the blindfold again. As for her second "proof" run, go watch her VOD "Blind date with Alatreon", exactly at 2:51:38 she shows a picture on her phone to the webcam BUT little did she know it also reflected her twitch chat from her 3rd hidden monitor, you can also see its stand leg in her keyboard cam which people even figured out the exact model. Karl's evidence perfectly aligns and reinforces this too, he only missed seeing the physical monitor itself, which the community found. TLDR: First run was cheated with a fake blindfold. For the second run, she had another monitor to her right which was deliberately off camera, never mentioned or covered during her setup of covering her other monitors, which she used to see in her peripheral vison using that loose blindfold. She also accidentally read a chat message even though her monitors were covered and tried to correct that mistake with an excuse, constantly looking to the right etc...
Plus, the third monitor has been confirmed, though unintentionally, by her mod on a call with asmongold. Now, the argument is "she just had chat on there". But the genie is out of the bottle. Her purposeful decent is enough evidence. If a 3rd monitor isn't an issue, then there would have been zero reason to lie about it. Compile all that with the old shady blindfold that she's refuse to admit wasn't folded the first time and it just gets worse.

Also disproved a bunch of things live like obs acting up, etc. They never actually brought any valid arguments and purely deflected questions while sources is "just trust me bro". I think it's hilarious that what threw Karl off wasn't that she was very smart about her method, it's that he gave too much credit to her in the belief that she would come up with some super smart elaborate hoax when in reality, it was so dumb and simple that you'd kick yourself for not figuring it out immediately. But to her credit though, I will say that she PROBABLY could have gotten away with it if she didn't mess up so badly and so often. Had she set everything up beforehand and not set up her input display until after she moved things around or not been so full of herself that she needed to constantly validate herself by reading her chat, she could have very well made her cheating much less detectable. She was only caught because Karl noticed her weird input while she was setting up which bugged him the most, which caused him to more intensely scrutinize her actions immediately after and then put the pieces together for how she did it. Then after he made that connection, everything else fell into place. He figured out the 3rd monitor and then he just needed help proving how she could see through her new blindfold which is when Juzzi and Bubzia come in and basically show how it's done. Brilliant.

I feel like her staring at her right so frequently when there's supposed to be nothing there should have been a dead giveaway from the start. But yes, I guess Karl was more focused on the blindfolded run rather than how she acted before the run started. He didn't think to look at her cam and instead kept an eye on her inputs and gameplay itself.
As someone pointed out in the comments of the Karl Jobst video you can literally see the leg of the monitor labeled (Nvidia G-Sync) all the time in her keyboard camera.
If you pay close attention to her run, you can also see every head movement she makes to adjust her vision. It consists of a head tild followed by her being head level with the monster then a light smile. She does this alot.
It's so blatantly obvious once you see it. The crunch of her cheeks when it starts to slip a little. Then the slight head tilt up and left, and she clearly has her head ever so slightly turned to the right.
I was wondering why she kept scrunching her face weird... people say she looked smug but it just looked like she was constipated to me. But now it make sense, it was just to make the gap bigger and be able to see. And she thought people would just brush off her weird random expressions lmao

@@buggartyeah. She could have easily proven it wasn't prerecorded by replying to the chat for a few minutes before getting into it. She definitely didn't spend enough time on the idea if she thought dragging OBS behind a piece of paper wouldn't have made viewers suspicious. Especially while showing her mouse inputs... Just set it up on the third monitor before starting the stream, reply to chat before putting the paper down. The need to have chat in sight while playing was definitely what screwed her, but she still would have been found out just by understanding how her blindfold work, examining her weird posture and the visible bit of nvidia monitor you can see on cam.
Regarding the "streamer brain" you mentioned; our eyes are naturally drawn to movement so seeing chat scroll in our peripherals will make us look. With practice, one can train out of this habit though.
Because she doubled down. She basically destroyed any growth she might have had. It's unfortunate cause it seems like she is a relatively new creator. Just got partnered on twitch and is one of the rare people to get a capcom partnership. She puts all that in jeopardy by doing this.
And honestly, if she did kill over 4k Alatreons before this whole fiasco, she's probably pretty good at the game as well. It's just that playing a game blindfolded is such a completely different beast and it requires you developping an entirely different set of skills and reflexes. It's not something you just can fake and boast about just because you're pretty good while playing normally. Had she just taken the L and apologized right after the first callout, it most likely wouldn't have been a big deal since she didn't submit her run on any competitive website nor tried to claim some sort of bounty. But when you double and even triple down on something you cheated for and still keep cheating... yeah, you pretty much shoot down any chance of an audience ever trusting your words again.
Karl Jobst is my personal hero. He got me interested in speedrunning through his analysis of new records and cheaters, and his willingness to stand up to Silly Bitchell is inspiring. Me when Patterz figures it out instantly
I don't think this would've been career ending had she handled it somewhat better. The fact she abused the trust of her fans & staff is icky, sure.. but doubling down with a then sewn version of her thin blindfold, then TRIPLE-downing with a new blindfold as sussy baka proof kept popping up. So many chances. What can and *will* kill her channel or career is how she handles it from here on now. I've had experience as staff of discords of people like her; stepped down for one reason or another because of their lies,etc,etc. Then find out later their defensive explosive desperation to appear as a victim can kill everything. Unfortunately, it looking that way as I've heard her discord is nuked, some staff turned their backs on her (for whatever that entails) And she is reacting in the worst way possible-- similarly to Illuminaughtii in the way of trying to cover up, silence people, and just hideaway from being guilty at all instead using a victimized tactic.
That's it. She keeps doubling and tripling down further compounding issues. If she just comes out and says. "hey, you got me. It all started as a little fun...etc...etc." Now, it's hard to trust anything she says or does. If she had just put in the work and did a legit run. Even if she doesn't succeed it's still better than faking it.
Tbf she's really good at monhun. Soloing alatreon is already hard in itself and doing it the way she does even without a blindfold is amazing. That said, cheating a blindfold run is a big no-no plus doubling down instead of owning up to fucking up is a horrible sign for her character. I say this a scrub who still cant solo alatreon after almost 700hrs of playing. I cannot, as they say, Git Gud.
Btw, some people who say that she doesn't deserve this much hate forget about one thing: She made money with this. Some people, I'm guessing quite a lot of them, gave her money because they were so impressed with her "feat". That's fraud. AS a veteran Monster Hunter since Playstation 2 and up, Her speed run is completely fake, I put around 4000hours roughly into each Monster Hunter game SHE did not Blindfold Alatreon without peeking or being able to see or some form of cheating. Alatreon is an Elder Dragon with all Elements, fast speed and some attacks come with no sound cue. I could see a blindfold run against maybe a Lao Shan Lung or Shen Garon, Jhen Mohran or maybe Ceadeus, they are big and very slow. Camera movement alone keeping up with Alatreon IS impossible blind folded, considering his level changes and charges while attacking.
Asmongold reacted to the video also and talked to her mods afterwards and the mods said that she didn't cheat and that she didn't move anything and there's no proof that she even did move anything. Also her moderator is apparently also a physician which is crazy that he has enough time to do his job as a physician and moderate a streamers chat, he also sounds like he's 19.
You don't find it weird that only the people that are actively around her are the only ones that believe the run was legit, the tech guy, the mod, and the mentor apparently who was 8000 kills of this boss. Bit of a red flag that this dude has 8000 kills and thinks it's legit, I'd question that he even has 8000 kills

I only got 1 monitor but that's because I'm on a budget.. but I often have laptop or phone I use as a second screen to watch youtube/twitch. My headset can have two devices connected at once so it works fine.

I think Karl's point is fair that nonsense like this discredits legitimate blind runners. I hate that it can even be said, but I think it would be fair to also say that she took a big steaming dump on other female gamers overall. Many of the lady streamers out there already face an uphill battle to combat accusations of rodeoing a simp audience, and we've now gotten to see doubling down, new cheating methods, and the most voluntarily blind debate ever between her moderator and Asmongold; the mod's atrempted defenses may have actually done more harm than good, as the mod basically spends an hour making theoretical/generalized points that get proven incorrect or have no logical basis.

It's so crazy that she thought doubling down and cheating again to prove her innocence was a good idea. To be fair, I would have been tempted to do the same thing in her place. Telling the truth can feel a lot worse that a lie in the moment. She probably could have argued that her community blew up her first run way bigger than is should have been and that she felt trapped in a corner unable to say it was fake and after a week to think it over, she decided the only proper thing is to admit it was fake to everyone and that she's sorry she let things go so long without a word. I would recommend everyone go watch Asmongolds full uncut part of his stream on this. He talked to some of her mods and a Sekiro speedrunner on stream. Her mods are simps, and every time Asmon gave cold hard facts there were long periods of silence from her mods. Its so sad yet hilarious at the same time; Tbh she should be banned from Twitch for this shit, cheating speedruns twice is wild.

The even more odd things was that tmk that technical issue is something that happens because of her trying to hit a certain key in response to something not working in the set up or something similar. What was she reacting to that caused her to keep hitting the key causing the issue? If it's a visual only issue there is no reason she would be hitting the key due to the whole being blindfolded thing.

I was one of the few who said that this was legit. I took my L, listened to the feedback, and am quite devastated that it was fake. I didn't know her beforehand, but having a blindfolded run in any game is just amazing to witness. I was fooled by her follow-up video "Debunking" the things that called her out. I've seen some people who REALLY want to make this run seem real to the point of being delusional. I'm glad I'm not one of those people and know when I'm in the wrong. Not my proudest moment!
The thing is she seems a great gamer; being able to Kill Alatreon 4,600 times is a feat. I have played games of the series and I haven't killed a single boss monster a thousand times. I bet she's able to do a blindfold speedrun but I doubt it's possible with the way she's doing it.
@@jjhaya Blindfolded runs of just about anything generally end up being way more complicated than a lot realize. We don't really realize how important our sight is in relation to a lot of our actions in game oddly enough while overestimating our other big sense of hearing. Even runners who have nearly mastered games and played through thousands of times will flounder and struggle when sight is taken away. People who could 100% games easily start struggling getting to the first level let alone beating it. They start realizing how hard it is to even tell where they are or where enemies are and sometimes something unexpected happening can essentially spell instant death for a run since they lose all clues of positioning and everything with there being no way to realistically recover.
A lot of specific strategies tend to have to be made for runs like that, like purposefully hitting walls to check position or to make sure the character is facing the right way, sometimes counting steps, or having to perform certain actions in a specific preplanned way. Blindfolded runs are really a different beast from normal runs.
And you’ve become a better person for accepting the L! We all have moments like this. The important thing is that we learn from them!
There is a lock on in MH World but;
1. it snaps to a monster no smooth camera movement.
2. it locks on to the monsters center, not the head.
Not to mentions she isn't using lock-on anyway as we can see with no ingame UI that usually tells you what monster you lock on, her not using the keybind for lock-on, and we can see with the mouse tracker who she moves yhe camera herself
She could’ve so easily played off the “everything will be unedited” line if she’d kept it going & it would’ve just seemed like a coincidence, but she just had to stop mid-sentence and make it awkward. People would’ve still figured it out eventually, especially how she pans the camera right in front of her character at the end, but she just made it so easy for everyone to figure out.
Her first blind fold run was cheated by using a fabric which lets her see through just enough to make decisions, when asked to show it again she had already sewn the blindfold and inserted something in-between it to show that light wasn't going through, when asked by chat to unfold the fabric like how it was used originally after the allegations came out, she banned or timed them out without showing the blindfold again.
As for her second "proof" run, go watch her VOD "Blind date with Alatreon", exactly at 2:51:38 she shows a picture on her phone to the webcam BUT little did she know it also reflected her twitch chat from her 3rd hidden monitor, you can also see its stand leg in her keyboard cam which people even figured out the exact model. Karl's evidence perfectly aligns and reinforces this too, he only missed seeing the physical monitor itself, which the community found.
TLDR: First run was cheated with a fake blindfold. For the second run, she had another monitor to her right which was deliberately off camera, never mentioned or covered during her setup of covering her other monitors, which she used to see in her peripheral vison using that loose blindfold. She also accidentally read a chat message even though her monitors were covered and tried to correct that mistake with an excuse, constantly looking to the right etc...
Plus, the third monitor has been confirmed, though unintentionally, by her mod on a call with asmongold. Now, the argument is "she just had chat on there". But the genie is out of the bottle. Her purposeful decent is enough evidence. If a 3rd monitor isn't an issue, then there would have been zero reason to lie about it. Compile all that with the old shady blindfold that she's refuse to admit wasn't folded the first time and it just gets worse.
@Bodharas Yea, I watched it live. Mods were a train wreck and even got stun locked multiple times by asmon. Also disproved a bunch of things live like obs acting up, etc. They never actually brought any valid arguments and purely deflected questions while sources is "just trust me bro".

I think it's hilarious that what threw Karl off wasn't that she was very smart about her method, it's that he gave too much credit to her in the belief that she would come up with some super smart elaborate hoax when in reality, it was so dumb and simple that you'd kick yourself for not figuring it out immediately. But to her credit though, I will say that she PROBABLY could have gotten away with it if she didn't mess up so badly and so often. Had she set everything up beforehand and not set up her input display until after she moved things around or not been so full of herself that she needed to constantly validate herself by reading her chat, she could have very well made her cheating much less detectable. She was only caught because Karl noticed her weird input while she was setting up which bugged him the most, which caused him to more intensely scrutinize her actions immediately after and then put the pieces together for how she did it. Then after he made that connection, everything else fell into place. He figured out the 3rd monitor and then he just needed help proving how she could see through her new blindfold which is when Juzzi and Bubzia come in and basically show how it's done. Brilliant.
As others commented, it reminds me of what Benoit Blanc said in Glass Onion. Blanc immediately dismisses Birdy when she tries to spin Bron's actions as “so dumb it's just brilliant” by clarifying “No, it's just dumb!
The chat thing was notfor validation, its a habit you develop when you stream for longer, she cant fully control it as its a habit she never trained to avoid doing, shows she was to arogant to realise that cheating takes more thinking and pratice to eliminate some signs of it than she thought.. she does take ppl for dumb thats one sure thing and her calling on "blinded by hate trailer' did piss me off, as 1.2kh in mhw I knew the moment i saw few first atk,s this is BS not blindfold.

I feel like her staring at her right so frequently when there's supposed to be nothing there should have been a dead giveaway from the start. But yes, I guess Karl was more focused on the blindfolded run rather than how she acted before the run started. He didn't think to look at her cam and instead kept an eye on her inputs and gameplay itself.

If you pay close attention to her run, you can also see every head movement she makes to adjust her vision. It consists of a head tild followed by her being head level with the monster then a light smile. She does this alot.

She definitely didn't spend enough time on the idea if she thought dragging OBS behind a piece of paper wouldn't have made viewers suspicious. Especially while showing her mouse inputs... Just set it up on the third monitor before starting the stream, reply to chat before putting the paper down. The need to have chat in sight while playing was definitely what screwed her, but she still would have been found out just by understanding how her blindfold work, examining her weird posture and the visible bit of nvidia monitor you can see on cam.

Regarding the "streamer brain" you mentioned; our eyes are naturally drawn to movement so seeing chat scroll in our peripherals will make us look. With practice, one can train out of this habit though.
Because she doubled down. She basically destroyed any growth she might have had. It's unfortunate cause it seems like she is a relatively new creator. Just got partnered on twitch and is one of the rare people to get a capcom partnership.

And honestly, if she did kill over 4k Alatreons before this whole fiasco, she's probably pretty good at the game as well. It's just that playing a game blindfolded is such a completely different beast and it requires you developping an entirely different set of skills and reflexes. It's not something you just can fake and boast about just because you're pretty good while playing normally.
Had she just taken the L and apologized right after the first callout, it most likely wouldn't have been a big deal since she didn't submit her run on any competitive website nor tried to claim some sort of bounty. But when you double and even triple down on something you cheated for and still keep cheating... yeah, you pretty much shoot down any chance of an audience ever trusting your words again.

I don't think this would've been career ending had she handled it somewhat better. The fact she abused the trust of her fans & staff is icky, sure.. but doubling down with a then sewn version of her thin blindfold, then TRIPLE-downing with a new blindfold as sussy baka proof kept popping up. So many chances.
What can and *will* kill her channel or career is how she handles it from here on now. I've had experience as staff of discords of people like her; stepped down for one reason or another because of their lies,etc,etc. Then find out later their defensive explosive desperation to appear as a victim can kill everything.
Unfortunately, it looking that way as I've heard her discord is nuked, some staff turned their backs on her (for whatever that entails)
And she is reacting in the worst way possible-- similarly to Illuminaughtii in the way of trying to cover up, silence people, and just hideaway from being guilty at all instead using a victimized tactic.

Tbf she's really good at monhun. Soloing alatreon is already hard in itself and doing it the way she does even without a blindfold is amazing.
That said, cheating a blindfold run is a big no-no plus doubling down instead of owning up to fucking up is a horrible sign for her character.
I say this a scrub who still cant solo alatreon after almost 700hrs of playing. I cannot, as they say, Git Gud.

The power of simplicity
AS a veteran Monster Hunter since Playstation 2 and up, Her speed run is completely fake, I put around 4000hours roughly into each Monster Hunter game SHE did not Blindfold Alatreon without peeking or being able to see or some form of cheating. Alatreon is an Elder Dragon with all Elements, fast speed and some attacks come with no sound cue. I could see a blindfold run against maybe a Lao Shan Lung or Shen Garon, Jhen Mohran or maybe Ceadeus, they are big and very slow. Camera movement alone keeping up with Alatreon IS impossible blind folded, considering his level changes and charges while attacking.
Asmongold reacted to the video also and talked to her mods afterwards and the mods said that she didn't cheat and that she didn't move anything and there's no proof that she even did move anything. Also her moderator is apparently also a physician which is crazy that he has enough time to do his job as a physician and moderate a streamers chat, he also sounds like he's 19.
Also being a physician had nothing to do with how she was sitting, he was talking out of his ass

Screen might've been too big to see through the gap in the blindfold, so the smaller/scalable size of OBS might've been easier to use.

I think Karl's point is fair that nonsense like this discredits legitimate blind runners. I hate that it can even be said, but I think it would be fair to also say that she took a big steaming dump on other female gamers overall. Many of the lady streamers out there already face an uphill battle to combat accusations of rodeoing a simp audience, and we've now gotten to see doubling down, new cheating methods, and the most voluntarily blind debate ever between her moderator and Asmongold; the mod's atrempted defenses may have actually done more harm than good, as the mod basically spends an hour making theoretical/generalized points that get proven incorrect or have no logical basis.

It's so crazy that she thought doubling down and cheating again to prove her innocence was a good idea. To be fair, I would have been tempted to do the same thing in her place. Telling the truth can feel a lot worse that a lie in the moment.
She probably could have argued that her community blew up her first run way bigger than is should have been and that she felt trapped in a corner unable to say it was fake and after a week to think it over, she decided the only proper thing is to admit it was fake to everyone and that she's sorry she let things go so long without a word. I would recommend everyone go watch Asmongolds full uncut part of his stream on this. He talked to some of her mods and a Sekiro speedrunner on stream. Her mods are simps, and every time Asmon gave cold hard facts there were long periods of silence from her mods. Its so sad yet hilarious at the same time; Tbh she should be banned from Twitch for this shit, cheating speedruns twice is wild.
