  • Appropriate oral cavity development is essential for a well functioning brain and body. When the maxilla doesn't develop forward and the jaw doesn't move forward we often end up with compromised airways, mouth breathing, malocclusion, mandibular deviations and visual refraction errors and postural instability. It's all connected. See this study.

Found your channel recently and it's a goldmine just revealed to the public. Can you also talk about teeth extractions? I'm an extraction victim and it retracted me jaws and restricted my tongue space. My teeth also shifted to one side to close that one extraction caused by decay, which caused to a midline discrepancy. I believe a midline discrepancy caused by shifting teeth is different from the whole jaw being canted!

Another probable cause of narrowing pallets is the introduction of sugar into our diet. The cranial dentists I was educated by and worked with , I can’t remember the research he cited but ,he emphasized that tribes that don’t have processed sugar in their diet have wide full pallets, but societies that do have processed sugar the palate start to shrink and narrow. It may have something to do with palate development in utero and the nervous system being hyper regulated from the sugar.

Neal - you really do a fantastic job of explaining all this. Big question is how do you find a dentist that is capable of understanding the issue and approach and help correct the bite appropriately. I have an appliance from PRI, but I can’t wear it all the time.

  • @CelesteM

I wish that addressing these things were not so hard to access (geographically), financially prohibitive for a lot of people, and seem like such a gamble. If I knew 100% this stuff would fix all my issues it would be worth the investment (though I'd have to borrow the money from family), but when you've already tried so many things (many of which are expensive) and are on a limited budget, it's really difficult. I've been doing PRI for almost a year and have seen some improvement but am still struggling to retain the changes. My therapist has a dentist she works with but unfortunately both of them are pretty far from me (I drive 2-3 hours each way to my PRI appointments) and the splint therapy costs several thousand dollars (to say nothing of palate expansion, etc.). The fact that even that might not be enough without additional vision or other interventions just makes it all feel insurmountable.

The cranium and the body transform in sync. You are assuming that the problem started at the head (for no particular reason ), then the rest of the body got dragged into it. We can just as well assume the issue was initially with the feet, say bc of bad shoes (i e. All shoes) then the head had to overcompensate for that , and from there on tension kept building up in a vicious cycle.

    Hi Neal,
Like you, I’ve spend my life with severe asymmetry and twist and became obsessed with this topic.
Any idea what exercises to do to fix a pectus carinatum deformity? Its a rare ribcage deformity,
I was born with it and it caused my health issues my whole life.
My parents asked doctors about it when I was a kid but they said it wasn’t a big deal.
Thoracic surgeons said they could not operate on me when I sought for help ad an adult, for several reasons and bracing did not work as I did it as an adult, and further flared my ribs because. PRI is my last shot at improving it. I don’t expect a full fix but I’ve been in chronic pain my whole life + health issues and I’d love to feel just a bit better.
There is no videos on UA-cam about how to improve pectus carinatum. Only a few about excavatum.
I’ve newly found your channel & have been binge watching your videos for the past days!
You’re changing the world with your channel. It’s a goldmine and definitely gonna grow.
Your dedication to what you do is admirable.

My cranio-sacral practitioner stopped working with adults and started working with babies exclusively because she felt that was where she could do the most good. It led to an asymetry in my face.I got it out of there today and here is what I have now. Left eye higher than le right, restricted breathing in the right ribs, my right shoulder higher than the left one and the nerves in my arms etc. are all tight. I had to take a break from basketball until I Get that fixed and my right hip feels uncomfortable sometimes. Its been 7 months since this breathing problem and I stopped working out because of it. My collarbone on the left side seems like its pulled down and I have neck tightness too. Also, I have a left rib flare and not much in the pelvic I think except a right leg externally rotated most of the time. I really want to get back to my sport even if I have learned a lot from this injury. can you help? Thanks for Your time

It's not mewing. It's about checking vision (not just eyesight), dental occlusion and, yes, tongue posture (during rest, chewing, swallowing, speech etc.). The tongue should be relaxed and at rest on the palate, so that the mandible can come forward and move from side to side with ease.
