We just took a taxi from Centro Historico Guadalajara to Ajijic and it was pretty much the same amount of time as your bus trip! The price difference was definitely different ($1200. pesos) so very glad to see this video for future, MUCH more affordable trips from Ajijic to Guadalajara! Thanks for the information!
Totally have done that in reverse, GDL to Ajijic easy! Also You can take the Metro right to the New Bus Station again anywhere in Mexico and also the Metro to Tlaquepaque and have a great lunch in any of the 29 restaurants facing the Zolcalo and listen to Mariachi music.
Great information! Thanks. Possible infor video: where do you pay and get a pass to drive out of the lots at Sam's Club (and I expect other big box stores) in Guadalajara? Last time I was there I learned, upon trying to leave, that I had to present a ticket to get the arm across the road to lift so I could drive out of the lot. I had tried to find where to get it before going back to my car but could not find it. I ended up blocking a long line of traffic trying to leave. It's an automated system. Finally I got someone to answer the speaker, explained my problem and that person raised the arm from inside the store. Aggravating and very embarrassing!
We've never been to Sam's club in GDL. When we do have to go to a big box store, we go to Costco (been 2 times in a year and a half) and they don't have paid parking there - just FYI
That was a very informative video, thank you guys. I’m sure Jim and I will be using it when we visit Ajijic for the first time summer 2025. I hope you guys will still be living there when we arrive. Until then 0:15 thanks for sharing your remarkable life. I envy you guys….
Thanks, this is one of the things that has been a mystery for me - How to take the bus from Ajijic to get to the new bus station in order to be able to take other buses to Puerto Vallarta, Morelia, etc. Is there also a way to take the bus to the Guadalajara Airport?
You are welcome!! The bus does make a stop in GDL that is closer to the airport - so you could Uber from to the airport, but we're not aware of a bus that goes to the airport.
Thanks for the question. I added the links for Inn Ajijic & the Bus Terminal to Google maps to the video description and in the reply to your comment. Good catch. Thanks so much!
In most of the intercity bus stations, the ticket seller will tell you what gate the bus will arrive in, and the number that's stenciled on the lower front of the bus. Makes it very easy. Ask if they don't tell you. Another thing to ask though, is if the bus is on time (there are frequent delays). Long haul buses are comfortable, but the drivers will often blast the AC, so dress warmly. And remember, not even a luxury bus will be luxurious after a 24 hour bus ride (Mazatlán to Acapulco is 24 hours)! If you have an INAPAM card (senior discount card - many states are restricting it to Nationals only now, so if you qualify get one now) most of the bus lines offer a 50% discount. And showing your card to the turnstile guard in the metro in CDMX will get you entry - I don't know about Guadalajara.
@@TrulyRemarkableLifeI take the inter-city buses all the time. A few years back I took a month and bussed from Mazatlán to Puerto Escondido, stopping in Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Zihuatanejo, and Acapulco. If you plan to travel by bus and are currently in the USA, Amtrak sells a travel kit that rolls up into a cylinder you can tie to bags/backpacks. It includes a blanket, neck pillow, and something else. It's around $10-$15. I take mine everywhere! The blanket is big, and surprisingly warm; and rolled up, can double as a lower back support if I'm not cold.

Yes, taxis can be very expensive! I'm so glad this info might be able to help you!
Wow, that seems a painless way to go! No parking to mess with either, bonus.
Thats a VERY real benefit. Especially in Guadalajara.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
This is exactly what I needed. ❤❤❤

@@TrulyRemarkableLife Thank you. I'm glad to know that. I was afraid of going to Costco after my escapade at Sam's Club.
@@karlapatterson5714 It's a very familiar experience at Costco. We dont go a lot but its nice to know it is there.

Hey there’s no link in the show notes for your Inn Ajijic property, just instructions. Where to find this place?
