Great video again on an absolute classic. Growing up in the 70s and 80s my dad worked for Ford and had Capri's as some of the many company cars he had. The capri was an absolute legend of a car and its great to see some left on the roads.

As a fellow Capri owner, original owner 1979 Mk3 2.0 Ghia, so glad to see you improving the car., looking forward to some more work on it. I prefer the black grille, wasn’t keen on the early 80’s colour coding, I like the RS seven spokes but the pepper pots are an all time classic, so yes, excellent to fit them.
    Couple of clarifications
The original radio worked on ignition position 1 and of course on position 2.
the wiring should be fine if it hasn’t been “hacked”
For the rear wiper, check the switch that’s on the rear panel on the left first! If the top of the switch is corroded it doesn’t make an electrical contact with the “plate” on the underside of the hatch, if that’s ok, check the connector on the bottom of the switch. Capri wiring is very good quality and reliable.
Please get some mats for the carpets!!!
Keep up the good work, I found your channel by accident, as a Ford fanatic, loving the Ford’s that you have. It’s just a shame today’s Ford as a company is absolutely nothing like the Ford that we all know and love. A real, real shame that it’s run by people and not true car enthusiasts and traditional Ford people. We will never see again the likes of the Capri, RS and XR Ford’s which catered for the everyday enthusiasts.

Thanks for the comment, the advice and the responses to some of the other comments - it is great to get questions answered, I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
I also appreciate you following my Capri and my Channel - I have had my little car collection for 15 years (it has grown over the years) and remain pleasantly surprised people are enjoying watching and following my car antics here on UA-cam.
As you say, modern Fords (and all other marques) have lost the magic / soul of the 70s, 80s and even 90s... it is a shame, but then it makes the older cars very special indeed.
Look forward to hearing more from you on future videos.

I used to own a 1973 1600 GT mk 1 facelift when I was young. I still miss it till this day, I hope one day I will get the chance to own another. I really enjoy watching your vlogs on yours. I used to be in the airforce, and seeing you install the sound system, reminds me of when I used to travel back to my unit in the dark winter evenings, and the sound of Grace Jones singing Private Life always sticks in my mind when I think back to that time. It seemed they always played it when I drove back. Keep up the good work, I subscribed after your first vlog so I'll be looking forward to more, thanks for sharing.

I’m massively enjoying these videos of your wonderful Ford Capri. It’s bring back so may fond memories of my 2.8i that I reluctantly had to part with in 2003. If anyone knows if it’s still on the road I’d love to know. The reg was A834 PEW. I so desperately want another 2.8i in my life, it was the best car I ever owned a real real head tuner and a joy to drive. I will keep watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your journey with this amazing vehicle.

What a luxury stereo! Haha! Better than my original Blaupunkt Nürnberg what is only a radio with two rear speakers from a Ford Siërra (wich fit on the original place at the rear). Just a little Pioneer subwoofer added to get some low tones 😆. Just kept that radio for years because it's the first radio that my dad used in his 1979 Opel Kadett and some Capri's had this radio too. He passed away 24 years ago and for me that is a nice memory. But i like your smile at 0:42 That is the Capri feeling!

Re the screws for the rear light clusters- the original black screws as fitted by Ford rust within a couple of years. Hi Andy, another great video on your Capri. I've been following your videos of this car for a while. Im a massive Capri enthusiast. I own a couple myself, I have owned 3, and I've got another one on my radar in the future. I'm also heavily involved with the Capri Club. It's a bit late now but you could of got your original tailgate struts re-gassed quite cheaply by a company in Derbyshire I know. It was nice of the fellow Capri owner to send you a new pair for free, though. As for your radio and speaker upgrade, they're a nice upgrade, and it's your car, so you can do what you want to it. I like how you've hidden the front speakers and got them to fit. If you wanted to eventually go down the original route, it's not cheap. An original working ford radio will probably set you back about £400 and an uncut decent dash facia would be £80+. A little niggle of mine that I dont know if you've noticed or not, Is that the rear bumper over riders are in the wrong position. They should go through the inner bolt hole for the bracket. Let me know if you need any Capri parts, as I've got a set of refurbished Pepperpot alloys in the garage I may part with. I look forward to seeing the next video on the car. By the way are you attending the NEC classic car show next month? 🙂👍

Thanks for the advice on tailgate struts (useful to know on some of my other cars) and I have spotted the position of the rear bumper over riders and will address it in a future video (well spotted!).

It has the body colour grill and headlight surounds but doesn't have the half leather interior that a special would have, so I would think it's just a standard 2.8i that's had the grill, light surounds and alloys from a 2.8i special fitted to it.

The 1980's redesign didn't age well. But the worst thing about this car is the paint looks cheap as fuck

Thanks for the comment and for watching, strange though that you tuned in minded the Capri design has not aged well. Are you a closet Capri fan?
Thanks also for the constructive feedback on the Capri... I take it your Capri has better paint?

@@cornishcarcollectors I apologize for any offence and I will concede that what I'm seeing may well be due to the silver just not showing up very well on camera, particularly with all those flat planes that the Mk2 facelift/"Mk3" presents. But I do remember the Fords of that generation all seemed to suffer from flat, dull paint, especially when compared with later cars, and what's on screen here looks just like I remember.
I've loved the Capri ever since I was a teenager. I do wish Ford could make a new one but every time they have tried, the designer has tried to do their own thing and has completely missed the point. The wonderful thing about the Capri is that low, sleek shape with the long bonnet, the swoop at the back and the truncated tail. Give me that or give me death.
The 80's facelift was I suppose inevitable that it should be like it was but that folded paper look - in my humble opinion - doesn't look quite as classic as the Mk1. That said, it *can* be made to look great. My favourite restomod is Rusty Kennedy's mallard green Mk3 shell dropped onto a 4x4 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth floorpan, I think he might have flared the wheel arches a little to accommodate wider wheels. Imagine driving one of those with a 5 litre V8 Coyote powering it. 😍
It will remain a dream though; projects like that require skills I will never have. So I settled down with a 2018 BMW X3 xdrive Msport. I'm not complaining.

Sadly we are about to see a new Capri and true to modern Ford’s forum, they are breathing life into an old model name to help shift soulless electric SUVs. 🙄
Thanks for watching my video. 👍
