"Super Mario Bros. Gold Edition is a compilation of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels including features from both games, but also new features as well. This is also a respond/tribute hack to Shane M.’s “Super Mario Bros.: Double Trouble” FDS hack."

szemigi, you should ake World 1-4 into a typical dungeon level instead of being underwater. Also, anyone can tell you that Bowser is gray and white when he is underwater if you ever played the Japanese Minus Worlds on a Japanese version of Super Mario Brothers. You can slightly alter the level to make it conform to a typical dungeon motif. Furthermore, you could have just made World 2-2 into a typical water level instead of like the SMB2J World 9 water levels.

This sort of reminds me of some of the minus worlds except they actually work and are fully playable or baby a lost Levels game with minus worlds.
One reason why it seems like minus world is the color palette and also enemies where they should not be example bloopers in a normal World in an above-ground one Lord water level.
Which one or two of the finest worlds are kind of like that.
Always a pleasure to watch your playthroughs, Vincent Hernandez! I just don't understand, though. Why don't you just shoot Bowser? Why do you always have to try for the weird-death or small-Fire-Mario glitch? Just beat him, already!
As for the hack, it's really good. Tons of clever challenges, and it starts off difficult without being unreasonable. The player doesn't have much time to slumber and get used to things. That would normally be a bad thing in a video game, but SMB is such a ubiquitous classic by now that we don't need to be eased into things too much.
I don't like only two things about the hack. First, World 7-4 is the only castle level. I appreciate some offbeat Bowser environments, but by World 4-4, that started to get a little old. I love the variety in the x-4 levels, though. Second, too many swimming levels, especially World 5. They got boring. Making swimming levels interesting is not easy, because Mario's swimming ability allows him to essentially teleport over most challenges. Also, it's actually easier to control Mario's swim in SMB1 and its hacks than it is in SMB3-type games. Those are pretty minor complaints. Nice hack, szemigi!

Nestopia is kinda bleh tbh. Try FCEUX. Way better emulator, from experience, and I was a longtime Nestopia user too.

Why the f**k does he keep cutting it so close with Bowser?
To set up two different glitches. The first one is the one where he gets away with dying by simultaneously touching the axe and Bowser. The other one is to try to set it up so you can throw fireballs as small Mario.
