How To Use You Amazon Echo As A PC Speaker
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 сер 2024
- If you have limited desk space or a small PC or laptop with basic sound you might want to consider using your Amazon Echo as a speaker. Your Amazon device can be used as a Bluetooth speaker for you phone, but also your PC which will save on space and give the device a dual purpose.
With the flagship Echo's this can also be done by changing the audio port to input on the Alexa app. I'm using my Echo Plus in my new office setup as I don't have a set of speakers for the PC in there and this works for both this Desktop computer and my work laptop.

*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*
I had to watch this video with no sound, but now I can watch it with sound. Thank you!
Thank you!! It worked like a charm. Thanks for being very clear in your instructions.
Thank you for helping me. Option one was the quickest way to set it up.

Context before :) thanks for putting up :)
Thank you soo much and that was a clever way to avoid setting off our devices by pressing the button instead of saying 'Alexa.' It's always a fun challenge to watch these videos without accidentally activating our smart assistants 😁😁😂😂
Really clear and helpful. I just returned a very expensive Logitech LogiDock as it was just dropping out the mic and speakers all the time. I have an echo knocking about to great to have a solid use for it!
This works really well. I use the later 4th gen orb version and it sounds superb on wired connection. You do get slight latency though so lip sync on video isn't spot-on but it's Ok. These devices have a lot of audio DSP inside them which introduced the latency.
Does the Echo Dot 4 have line-in support as well or just line-out as he mentioned?
@@csu3886 I have the dot 4 and i can confirm it does NOT have line-in support
@@DrTolis But It has 3.5mm Jack port, right?
@@zafarsongs im pretty sure that is just line out, so whatever alexa is saying goes into the device your alexa is connected to, If that makes any sense

excellent description- got me up and running as I'm in self isolation and didn't have any pc speakers.
Really good, I appreciate.

Thanks for the video. I did work and now I do not have to purchase extra speakers or add more wires to my setting. Thanks again.

Awesome!!! My new work HP laptop speakers are on the backside of laptop. I had trouble hearing even at 100%. I just connected my Echo speaker and its perfect! Thank you for this video....
Glad I could help!
thank you for this. my mistake was going into setup mode. did not know i could tell alexa to start BT.
Good idea and good video.. we have a few alexa smart speakers at home but want ask do you rate them or the Google nest as being better... cheers. btw I assume you can access the alexa settings from your pc also??
The speakers I think are better sound from the Echos but in truth the recognition is probably better from the Google speakers but this depends on what you're doing. Amazon has marginally better integrations with smart devices simply since they've been around later. Even with the difference in recognition I'm sticking with Amazon though as there's a bigger range of devices and a little more flexibility. In terms of settings you can goto alexa.amazon.co.uk (or .com) and this web page will let you control all your settings.
TY works great!
Great to hear!

For anyone having issues with your Echo not appearing in the sound options even when it says connected, open bluetooth settings, go to "devices and printers" on theright and then right-click on your Echo, select "Sound Settings" and if "Don't use this device (Disabled)" is set, change this to "Use this device (Enabled)"
That worked for me, hopefully if anyone else has this issue, this fixes it for them! :)
Thanks for sharing!
Finally got my dot to work! Was doing my head in. Disconnected it, got the laptop to forget it, unpaired from alexa and re-paired it. Took forever. Why doesn't it just work first time?! But glad it works now. Thanks.
I've so many times asked myself why things don't work first time. Seems like bluetooth and printers are the things that give me the most trouble. Glad you got it working though :)
You're A Legend thank you
Takes you almost 5 minutes to actually start showing how to connect to Alexa… good video but too much talk before the instructions. Thank you
I know I do tend to waffle on a bit. :) Thanks for watching though.
bla bla bla to much talk 😂
disturbing them? bro you should be wanting to do that stuff with your family lmaoo
Hi, Thanks for the video. Can we do this with echo dot 3rd gen?
Should work with Bluetooth :) no reason it shouldn't. For the cable connection I think the 3rd generation dot only does line out and not line in so won't work with cable if I'm right.
Hey Andy, great video. I own a few echo dots (3rd gen) and a Echo Show 5. I'm thinking about buying a Echo 4th gen. I see that it will connect as a bluetooth speaker. Will it work as a microphone and well? Thank you!
No unfortunately not, they all just work the same as any other Bluetooth speaker in this mode so the microphone doesn't work. So if you're thinking of using for video calls this won't work I'm afraid :( it would be great if they worked more like a Bluetooth headset in this way but it's just audio out.
Hey Andy. Good video. I am using the AUX in setup. What is interesting is if I am playing music via the Echo and the PC makes a beep the music being play via the Echo stops. Do you experience the same? Any workaround? (I am using the most recent Echo "Ball").
Have the same with my echo plus. Seems like the sound from the PC overrides the echo output. No workaround yet unfortunately:(
@@AndysTechLife Thanks for the quick reply! Do you know if the same thing happen when using Bluetooth?
Just tried there with Spotify running and the same thing happened, but then a few seconds later Spotify kicked back in again, not sure if this was a fluke or I clicked something on Spotify, but normally it seems like Bluetooth in also takes priority and stops whats playing on the echo. Little bit of a pain alright.
Hi. With a wired connection (3.5mm) does the smart speaker function still work (ie voice command)? I want to connect to my TV... I think Bluetooth will have latency issues so a wired connection will be better.😊 Thanks
Very helpful thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Love it. Two birds one stone !
Can anything be done (Microphone or hub wise) with the Echo Input disk ?
This is no longer supported by Amazon on their set-up web page and I hate chucking perfectly serviceable stuff away.
The Echo input had previously been used for Alexa voice input to an Andoid tablet, but now, as its been effectively disgarded by Amazon, I've configured an old Easy Acc speaker/microphone to take its place and act for Alexa functions as well as an microphone/speaker for the tablet (Works well no-switching required)
Other than re-using the Echo input as a drinks coaster, the only other useful possible use is as a microphone/hub for my desktop PC.
So currently, with the only other microphone device on the system, a Microsoft USB video camera, disconnected, I've got the Echo Input hard-wired to a USB hub connected to my Windows 11 desktop as well as connected by Bluetooth to the same hub via a USB Bluetooth dongle.
Whilst Windows Device Manager recognises it as a Media Protocol Device and W11 Bluetooth Settings Menu shows the Echo Input 2D4 as paired with a bluetooth dongle, it doesn't show as a sound recording device in the W11 Control Panel Sounds Menu . . . . so no voice accepted.
What gives ?
It's a pain. For whatever reason Amazon only allow audio out through Bluetooth. It would be great if microphone was supported and there's no practical reason I can think of that it wouldn't work. :(
covering how to get your pc to output audio to two or more devices simultaneously would've been top notch!
Unfortunately most PCs don't support that. They'll only output to 1 Bluetooth device at a time and there's no way to pair the echos via Bluetooth. :(
@@AndysTechLife bummer - seems "simple"
With those pink walls, can’t help thinking about “The World’s Best Speakers”. They’re flat, hang on wall, and “pink panther” pink.
Lol the walls in the office were awful and the light strips really do make it look pink. Not there anymore thankfully.
Dude i have eco dot and i am able to connect it to my pc, mobile for audio in. I haven't tried aux yet but for Bluetooth it works.
Aux probably won't work on the Dots as they only seem to support audio out not audio in. Glad you got it working via Bluetooth though. :)
@@AndysTechLife does it work with the echo show?
I’ve just bought the gen 4 and have the gen 1 dot. I have it connected but the sound just cuts in and out, all Bluetooth drivers are up to date aswell
If its the same with both echo devices it would suggest that the issue is with the PC. If the PC is using something like Bluetooth 2.0 maybe there is a conflict with other BT devices? Just a guess though. :( also i do know that certain Alexa commands can cause her to disconnect from bluetooth, for example playing Spotify will disconnect to give priority to the streaming service.
We have long resisted getting an Echo. Never really saw a need. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB When we recently completed some remodeling in our home, we realized we had failed to add a switch to turn on a certain lamp across the room. We couldn't run new wiring (which would have been expensive if we could), so we got our first Echo which completely solved our problem for about $40 (Echo Dot and smart plug). We just ask Alexa to turn on/off that light. Heartily recommend it to solve this kind of conundrum!
Very good video explaining How to connect an echo device to a windows pc using BLUETOOTH , BUT very little explanation on how to connect it via cable to aux.
Fyi, the aux is only supported on the flagship echos, not the smaller ones like the Echo dots. Although they have an audio port it's out only. Only the larger ones like the Echo Orb and older big echos have the option in the Alexa app to change to audio in.
First of all thanks for video!
Is there way to synchronize bluetooth audio volume with Windows? I have also Google Nest Mini 2 and it automatically synchronize volume with Windows. Alexa always operate separately.
Thanks!
Doesn't seem like it, I've also noticed that any Alexa command or output adjusts the volume again which is really frustrating. Will let you know if I figure anything out.
@@AndysTechLife For now I started to use at least 'brief mode' so it doesn't scream at 2am 'ok' when I just need to turn off light and just make quiet 'beep' sound. I have also bed higher in room (2 floor room) and turned on 'start request sound' so I know that Alexa hears me.
@@AndysTechLife I would also appreciate some option to make different volume level for bluetooth audio at all. I use Echo Dot 4 as PC speaker too and I need to keep it at volume 3-4 to have enough volume for bluetooth while for assistent itself it's fairly high volume. Best would be to have option to choose.
BTW I have set up routine to make volume 20$ from 10pm to 7am but I break it when I use is as bluetooth speaker with PC... Let's see with updates :)
Nice video. I was able to pair my Echo (gen 1) to my new Dell laptop (Windows 10) but when I select "Connect" it tries for a few seconds then fails. I've tried it from the PC and from the Alexa app on my phone. I can't seem to find a solution online. My Echo connects easily to my iOS devices. Any ideas?
You can try asking alexa to connect to Bluetooth first and try it this way. Seems to be a recurring issue for several people, and sometimes updating Bluetooth drivers in windows solves the issue. If not seems like the quickest fix is to reset the speaker, but check out some of the other comments in case anyone else found a different fix.
Do you think is possibile to use in stereo pairing a couple of these? Thank you
So interestingly I've spoken with people who have managed to do this by Bluetooth connecting both, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Definitely worth trying using the stereo option in the app and maybe adding as an additional device on the PC itself, but it may or may not work for you.
You are a God. Thank you!
is there AUX in option for echo dot 3rd generation?
No unfortunately not, seem like the dots only support audio out so they don't have the option in the menu as it can't be changed to input :(
Hey Andy, I have my echo plus connected via bluetooth to my pc. Is there a way to disable alexa on it and just use it as a speaker only? I have Cube in the same room that I want to use as my alexa assistant.
One way is to change the wake word in the app so that it doesn't respond to the Alexa phrase. I know some people just hit the microphone button off on the device (it'll show a red light) so that it doesn't listen to you. Hope this helps
Does aux option work with the echo show 8 ? I’m trying to use it as a monitor speaker. It definitely has the jack in the back, but I can’t access the aux information on the app.
Not as far as I know. From what I understand, the Echo Show devices with an aux port are output only and dont support input so there's no option to change in the app.
gedaye mate- i cant get Bluetooth to work on my PC- ive got a 3.5 jack i can go from my pc to the speaker- but i can get it to go- is their some way i can do that without blue tooth- thnaks mate- nice clip.
So the 3.5 jack will work if you have a flagship Echo. So the Echo Dots will only do audio out, but if you have a bigger Echo or Echo plus, the aux port supports audio in and out, and this can be changed in the Alexa app. Several people have reported issues getting the Bluetooth connected and it seems a) updating windows bluetooth drivers and / or b) resetting the Echo seems to help out. Hope this helps.
Do you think its possible to get 2 Echos and set them up as stereo to use for PC audio?
In theory yes, but I haven't been able to get windows to do this so it may not be possible. Each echo is a separate device with a separate Bluetooth connection so the PC would need to broadcast to both (multipoint) and Windows only let's you output to one device at a time. If you can convince your computer to output to multiple devices at the same, but by default Windows will only let you use one sound device at a time.
I have an Eco dot and there is plug in speaker but no aux option in app 😓
When my Alexa is connected with Bluetooth sound is disrupted, wanted to give a try to aux but can't figure it out
With some of the echo devices you can connect the aux in cable and just ask alexa to 'play'. But just FYI some of the older Echos only support audio out and not audio in, so its possible this won't work with the one you have so the only option would be Bluetooth.
Hey great options, I can't find the aux option in the app though, please help
Aux isn't on the smaller echos like the Dot, only on the larger Echos. Seems like they only added the aux function to the flagships devices and not the small ones.
@@AndysTechLife okay, but I don't have the Dot, I have the normal Echo , the original one (big).
My echo dot 3 doesnt have the aux function on the alex app. But it does have a 3.5mm jack
The dots only support audio out unfortunately, not audio in. So this will work only on the bigger echo devices.
@@AndysTechLife sad
Yeah not a good though from Amazon. :(
I just got a 4th gen Echo dot but I can't find any 'general' in the settings.
I guess they changed the menu since you made this video and I can't find the place for the setting to use it as a wired speaker.
The dots only support audio out. There's no option to change to audio in so there's no menu option. Audio in is only on the larger echo devices unfortunately. You can use an audio cable to use another speaker with the dot but not to have sound from the PC come out of the dot itself.
@@AndysTechLife ah that explains it.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Ant-Man would’ve been a cool name for that PC
Have another called Ant-Man but you're right, I might rename! :)
i have mine hooked up to head phones and powered by a Bluetooth charger, my Bluetooth headphones died. i also used to run alexa through my stereo
Thanks for your video Andy but this didn't work for me and I don't know why. I've checked my devices list and all looks fine there, my Echo device just doesn't want to find my PC (which is sitting next to it!). Any ideas?
Best thing to check is that the default windows sound output device is the Echo and no other device. If that doesn't work the only other things that seem to work are updating windows BT drivers and if that fails you can try resetting the Echo. Not ideal but it seems to work for a lot of people.
Guess this explains why even though my echo dot has an aux port the AUX Audio option does not show up in the Alexa app.
Yeah unfortunately the echo dots only support audio out and not audio in for some reason via aux. Would be handy, but :(
yoooooo you have the same keyboard as me
hey thank you for the tutorial but there is a big deal, sometimes it disconnecting for no reason can u pls help me ? (im using the echo dot 5)
Seems to be a recurring issue. For some people updating the Bluetooth drivers in Windows helps, for others resetting the Echo does the trick, but it seems like connecting to the PC is an after thought so its pretty buggy.
@@AndysTechLife ty for ur answer i did an upgrade of my bluetooth driver it doesn't work i'll try to reset my echo maybe is bcs of my motherboard or bcs of my another device like headphone idk i'll tell u what
Is there anyway to use the echo device microphone for Teams meetings etc
No unfortunately not. This is just using the built in Bluetooth as a speaker like any other BT enabled speaker so its not 2 way. Ie. Microphone doesn't work, it's audio out only. :(
Yeah my speaker says enabled for my echo then doesnt has red arrow pointing down under my sound settings :(
Best thing is to check under the bluetooth settings that it says 'connected for audio' then right click on the volume mixer on the bottom right and go into sound settings. You should be able to troubleshoot the device there. Theres also an advanced option in this settings menu that might help. Its possible you have another piece of software that's managing your audio devices for example Realtek audio or similar. In that case try and see if you can change the output device in that application instead. Hope you get it sorted!
So my Echo Dot doesn't work with P2 Cable? But I can Make it work with Bluetooth, and watch Movies and listen to sounds in Echo Dots, right?
Not sure what you mean by a P2 cable, but yes this will work as an output speaker. Just be aware though, depending on your setup and Bluetooth drivers there may be an audio delay that can be noticeable, particularly with video.
7:13 hey Andy, is there a list somewhere on the Internet where I could see if my echo device could be used via a wired connection? I have a smaller echo dot 4th gen with a headphone jack on there back of the device.
Most of the smaller ones don't support aux in unfortunately. Only the larger ones have the aux in option and even at that not all of them. I can't find any clear list but start here: screenrant.com/amazon-echo-does-it-have-an-audio-input-to-connect-other-devices/
Its a bummer they don't I mean it's a simple feature to include in the hardware I am guessing not much cost to make that happen right> Why don't Amazon does that? any hoo thanks for sharing the list.
@@AndysTechLife
I don’t see any configuration about the aux cable to change it to line in, any tips?
The aux option is only available on the larger flagship echos and not on the dots and shows so if you have one of these this isn't going to be an option and you'll only be able to use Bluetooth.
Hi. Can I connect two echo dots to my PC and make them both output audio simultaneously?
Unless your PC will let you output to more than one BT device at at time the short answer is no. By default Windows will only output to a single BT device at a time and since the PC is doing all the work here there's no way to connect the 2 dots.
My mini pc only has a headphone socket. When I connect this socket to the echo with a 3.5 cable, it works ok, but when the pc is off I get a humming from the speaker. The Jack on the cable doesn’t go fully into the pc socket and this seems to be the cause of the hum - is there a way of fixing this?
That's very strange as the 3.5 jacks should all be the same and standard, so if it's not fitting fully, I'd suggest carefully checking if there's any dust or dirt blocking it from going in completely. The buzzing is caused by improper contact between the contacts on the jack and the cable, so this won't be fixed until you get the cable to go in correctly. :( Hope you get it sorted!
Can I use echo through a Zoom meeting ? I mean, hearing and speaking through the echo dot?
Not through Bluetooth or aux as these are one way so only do sound not microphone, but Alexa does have a zoom skill which works on the echo shows you can try to dial into zoom meetings as if you were using echo calling, don't think this works with the Dots though, only the shows but I haven't tried it myself.
Be sure to check:
PC\My Bluetooth Devices\
you can click "Windows" type "PC" press [enter key]
click on My Bluetooth Devices in the list next to hard drives.
from there, my list is empty and i have to click "My Bluetooth Devices" on the top Address bar, for it to show my Amazon Echo.
>>THEN I HAVE TO DOUBLE CLICK THE ECO (sorry was missing this step)
From there, I have to "Connect" to "A2DP (Sink)".
.
Done.
Also, you should be aware that Bluetooth will always have lag (delay), so it is fine for listening to music, but if you want to watch videos or do gaming or anything that needs to be synced with what you see, you will be annoyed. However, there is 1 single use you could use this for, which would be late at night before bed, if you like to have videos playing while your eyes are shut, to help you go to sleep, the desync wouldn't be an issue, and it gives you voice commands to lower volume and even mute. This also can be useful if you want to mute your PC in bed, due to sound notifications waking you up or just annoying you.
.
It is true there is an Amazon Alexa app for Windows 10, but it is constantly crashing and constantly logging me out and making me go through the setup, so I consider it trash and I bought an amazon echo device. Hopefully some day the Alexa App for Win 10, will be stable, but for now, it seems it is abandoned or heavily neglected or they put in "safe-guards" which make it automatically close under certain conditions and logout and lose setup settings for whatever reason.
.
The following information may be confusing, so read it at your own caution.
You don't need to read below, to get what I got working.
.
There are 4 options on mine and A2DP Sink is the right one.
Otherwise, it connects to "AVRCP Target" with is a media control program and does nothing.
If I use A2DP (Source), it freezes the bluetooth devices window and i have to restart "explorer.exe" and go back to it, to change it.
Just for reference, there is another option "Audio Video Remote Control Profile", which I do not use.
.
update:
Now i'm having an issue where it is stuck on A2DP (Source). I tried restarting explorer. I took out the bluetooth adapter, put it back in, wouldn't show up at all. I took the USB bluetooth adapter out, put it in another port, now it's working again in A2DP (Sink). Got it working again.
For some reason I do not see the option for an aux option. Do you know how to fix this issue?
Just to note it only works on the flagship echos and not on the Echo dots. So if you're trying with a dot it won't work as they only support audio out. The newer, bigger echos support out and in.
I cant figure out what to say to make Alexa change to next track but I can control it on the screen I'm using echo show 5
Unfortunately the voice commands override the connection to the PC, so if i say next track it doesn't change whats playing from the PC it will go to the next track on whatever music service is setup on your Alexa app, eh Spotify or Amazon Music. The Bluetooth connection is limited that way it seems.
@@AndysTechLife to be honest Alexa kinda sucks.Itslike I'm arguing with my wife and she dosent listen :(
I still prefer arguing with Alexa then with Google Nest, so frustrating 😑 And let's not even start with Samsungs disaster of Bixby...
Can we do calls on echo or google next ? Like microsoft teams, zoom, skype..etc.
No unfortunately not. This is just using the built in Bluetooth as a speaker like any other BT enabled speaker so its not 2 way. Ie. Microphone doesn't work, it's audio out only. :(
I am not sure why in Apple phone, alexa app is not showing me any Aux Audio for changing setting ?? Any idea??
It only works on the larger echo's. If you're using an echo dot, even though there's an audio jack on the device this only works for audio out and not in. The bigger flagship echo's will let you switch between audio in and out and have the aux option, but not the smaller ones :(
Can I connect laptop to Echo Dot as speaker via AUX?
As far as I know the dots only support aux out to connect to bigger speakers and not aux in via cable. The larger echos support in and out through a setting in the app.
can you post the link for this specific echo?
This particular one is the 2nd gen echo plus: www.amazon.co.uk/All-new-Echo-Plus-2nd-built/dp/B07DLM2KFX/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=echo+plus&qid=1614739624&sr=8-2&tag=andyssmartlife-21
But this should work with most echos for Bluetooth as the echo plus 2nd gen is discontinued. For cable it will work with any with an audio aux in port.
Newer version of the Echo Plus is here: amzn.to/3qf1g2m
Hope this helps.
@@AndysTechLife thank you :)
I'm not getting AUX Audio option on my Alexa app even after connecting my mobile to echo Dot. Can you please help me out here?
The echo dots only seem to support audio out, not audio in, so it won't act as a speaker I'm afraid and there's no way to change this in the app :( Only works with the larger echos where you can change from audio in to out via the app.
I’m trying to connect mine via aux, but there’s no ‘line out’ option for me, any solutions?
On the newer echos on the app it shows under General->Aux Audio under the device. For the older ones like the echo plus and last gen they seem to have taken it out of the menu, but when I plug in the aux cable to my Echo Plus it seems to automatically detect. Once now I've had to turn off then on with the aux cable attached. Hope this helps.
@@AndysTechLife no that hasn’t seemed to work for me either unfortunately, thank you though
Humm :( which device are you using?
Couple of people online have suggested trying connecting the line in cable, playing something from your PC or whatever device and asking Alexa to 'resume' this apparently has worked for some people to force her to play from the aux cable.
@@AndysTechLife I can't find aux audio setting for my Echo Show 8 anywhere???? I can get bluetooth to work just fine but would rather use Aux. The main thing I hate about using bluetooth is that Alexa is always saying "BLUETOOTH IS NOW CONNECTED TO DESKTOP PC" at a much louder level than the content sound level that I've last watched.
Kindly help, the echo FC5 connects but does not show as under the sound output option. What do i do? If i connect to my phone it connects and plays fine. But PC just shows connected but i cannot choose it as output.
Best thing to check is that the default windows sound output device is the Echo and no other device. You might need to check if it's detected as a sound device at all in the control panel -> sound or device settings. If that doesn't work the only other things that seem to work are updating windows BT drivers and if that fails you can try resetting the Echo. Not ideal but it seems to work for a lot of people.
So I went ahead and connected my Echo Show to my Chromebox via Bluetooth. Now Alexa wants to tell me all about where I am playing from, be it from UA-cam, a video newsclip from the local newspaper or an announcement of new email by a Chrome Extension. Any tips to put a muzzle on Alexa?
Weird, she doesn't go into that much detail for me, but chrome might be sending additional info. You could asking her to turn on brief mode, or you could see if there's any settings in chrome that wouldn't send the tab / app details, but I'm not sure this would work.
I already had Brief Mode turned on so if I can't find another setting then this feature may not be attractive to Chromebook and Chromebox users. It certainly isn't to me.
Not sure what else to try 🤔 will let you know if I figure anything out
Hi! Nice video
I have 3rd generation echo dot
i try to connect via Bluetooth but it keeps need PIN for pairing
I try 1234 or 0000 or 1111 it's not working

Few people say the same and so far the only fix has been to reset the echo device. Not ideal but seems to work for most people.
@@AndysTechLife how to reset echo?
There's an option in the app to reset, or I think there's a way by holding down the action button on the device as you switch on. This will put it back in setup mode. Hope you'll t works, it's a very frustrating bug.
The issue I am having is that random sounds are made from my Echo Show 5 that state playing sound from "Computer Name" ... Is there a way to prevent this from happening without turning off all announcements settings?
Not really I'm afraid. The Echo is just acting as a normal bluetooth speaker in this setup so it will just output anything and everything that the PC makes as a sound. :(
@@AndysTechLife I don't understand why it has to state that its playing from "Computer Name" - other Bluetooth speakers would just play sounds (yes, whatever sounds the computer makes, but not state "playing from Computer name" on the device from where it is playing a sound)
can I used its aux input even without the internet connection?
Havent tried this myself but in theory it should work. The only think is the echo might stop as it tries to reestablish a network connection. Also there's no way of changing the setting from aux out to in if its an echo plus without connecting to the Internet to change the setting.
@@AndysTechLifecool, thanks😊
Is there a way where my echo does not dictate “conected blah blah” and “disconnected blah blah”
Haven't tried yet, but you could put the device in brief mode, in the Alexa app, account settings, Alexa voice requests and toggle brief. This will make her stop replying to all commands, but might also work for this. You'll still hear the chime. Might be worth a try.
I'm trying to do this with my Alexa 4th generation with clock but it's not working with the audio cable
The Echo Dots only support audio out unfortunately, not audio in.
But the Bluetooth method should work
I can't seem to find the aux setting in the alexa app
Its not supported by the dots btw, its only supported by the flagship echos. If you have one of the newer echos you can try seeing if there's a software update for the app or the device.
Can you use the echo device as a microphone for the pc?
No unfortunately not, it doesn't support microphone use, only audio out I'm afraid.
