He was pretty amazing before he left us also. I saw Bodom for the last time in 2019. Alexi looked tired, but his ability was still there. RIP Wildchild 🤘
@@TheOccultationProject Yup... This was a studio-session. Live, it's a different story unless you are Shawn Lane, who seemed to play even better and more precise live somehow. A show like they did, with singing and running around is obviously going to be sacrificing precicion, especially the way Alexi did it, who obviously loved the rock-star vibe of showboating and drinking etc.. His latest album with BAM showed no decline in songwriting, creativity or playing really.. Which is pretty astounding to consider with the issues he had going on.
@@TheOccultationProject I def agree, I saw them live 2x in 2017 and 2018 and both times he didn't growl the same an neither were his solos the same, felt like they really had list something. But then again he really has never really been a live guy he is best in the studio.
This is one of the oldest videos I remember watching of Bodom back in the mid 2000's, right around when UA-cam was first getting started. RIP Alexi. Your music has given you eternal life. Gone but not forgotten.
actually he did use delay/reverb with the Rocktron intelifex. I have a video in my channel that shows him and Roope doing a promotion for jackson guitars and you can hear it there. But i do agree with you that the Jackson days were when he played the cleanest.
He also broke his Shoulder which never fully healed so he had to change his technique completely and re-learn how to play guitar essentialy, But he's back Listen to Hexed!
For the Jackson guys out there; he would’ve sounded amazing with any gear. But still, I personally play with Jackson’s because of these early things he did. That probably didn’t make any sense, but as Allu would’ve said: f*ck it!
you know the thing i like about this guys playing is his..speed runs..sound soo SICK...sounds a machine gun at 0:11 onwards its INSANE and the solo at 0:35 sounds awsome.!
Someone stole Alexi's Randy Rhoads guitars from the bands rehearsal place in Finland. They are still out there somewhere under someone's bed or in a closet. Recently Janne was doing an interview talking about recording the early records and said that Alexi's Jacksons were never in great shape. He said they would not stay in tune well and would not intonate. He said he had to pitch shift his keyboards on the recordings to match Alexi's guitars doing all the dual harmony stuff because Alexi's guitars could never be intonated properly no matter how much they tried, or who worked on them trying to correct it. Janne said he was happy when they were stolen because it forced Alexi to get new guitars. He never had any issues with the ESP models. Janne said he knew Jackson made great guitars but for whatever reason the particulsr Jacksons that Alexi had were nothing but a headache. It kind of broke my heart hearing that, because I grew up idolizing Alexi and his custom shop Rhoads'. I always played Jacksons early on specifically because of Alexi. Hearing that those guitars weren't the perfect instruments I had always imagined kind of hurt lol
To be honest.I really preffered Alexi using the Jackson guitars rather than the Esp ones he uses these days.I just feel the Jackson tone is better for his style of playing.Just saying. This is my opinion.
Even though Alexi isn’t a lefty and most lefty’s credit Iommie and Hendrix, Alexi kept me playing. I love those guys, as should be. However I wanted to achieve a new standerd: Alexi was who I modeled my playing after the most. Those instruments were stolen but I said fuck it Randy died but Alexi took his playing and elevated it so I can try. My band isn’t anything near CoB but they told us to try are best, and for that I’m a better player for it. Ty Alexi, I hope I he future bolds well for u
the part where him and janne were playing was 1999. this was late 99 or early 2000, i can tell because hellion was released with follow the reaper and that was 2000
That's right, then he asked Jackson to make another one but -for some reasons- they say they would take up to years-time so then he joined ESP and they gave him a new guitar.
Alexi is a metal guitarist, it's not so much about being soulful. It's about being brutal. Though I do agree that Buckethead at least implements more technicality in his music(but he's a freak of nature, in a good way of course), they are both amazing. Also I don't like to consider one guitarist as being better than another, though there are bad guitarist. It's like saying van Gogh is better than Picasso. It's art; there is no better or worse, just different interpretations and expressions.
@XionComrade i'll agree with that blackouts are much better then EMG's, in his old jackson's he had built in pre-amp's with gain boosters built into his guitar so the Guitar was impossible to get a Clean sound out of it no matter what amp you use
Alexi in his prime was amazing, I almost cried watching this.

Simply the best guitarist of all time...
1:39 that tapping part, holy sh*t!
Where was that solo from, I wonder?
No other talent is as great as musical talent.
R. I. P Alexi ❤😭
RIP to a legend 😭
Good 👍 👍 👍 😍😍😍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸Alexi❤❤❤ilove you 😘😘😘
i love alexi. it's not his skill.. it's his feeling.. no other better then his in my eyes. feeling=skill.
While using Jackson RR he used to play more clean. Mention no delay or reverb used!

esps are way better quality now and he did use delay and reverb back then
Oh...he plays very well! And he's handsome! ^^^
COB is now one of my favorite bands....

whats the names of the classical pieces he´s playing with janne and the last one (around 1.45)??.
GREATT VIDEO alexi is the best guitarist in the world !
0:33 from wich song is this or is it just a jam?
I have the same question 😅😅😅😅
his tone is so guuuuuuud
true that man!!
they've mastered every subgenre of metal!
HOLY SHIT was that the T-1000!!!! LOOK at the recording guy in the beginning...
you know the thing i like about this guys playing is his..speed runs..sound soo SICK...sounds a machine gun at 0:11 onwards its INSANE and the solo at 0:35 sounds awsome.!
He's so amazing!!!
Those guitars are still out there somewhere. He always sounds so fking crazy gd playing on them.
Prolly rotted away at the bottom of a lake to be honest.
@@bodom9763 Well metal parts are still somewhere. Its sad.
Yes, those rr24 s are the stuff of legend. No esp could touch them.

@@k7j007 I saw that too haha. I really do think the difference is having guitar techs like he said though. It's hard to intonate a Floyd.
0:48-0:58 and 0:59-1:30 (best song ever) are so sick!
man i love when alexi does hellion 0:34
Innit amazing... So fucking sad. :(
el mejor guitarrista hasta el momento bueno para mi
His Tone is soooooo nice!
This is the only time I've ever seen him without his nails painted.
RIP the original WildChild!
alexi laiho is the best...!
very nice
Agree
authentic Alexi laiho
only musician from finland who is good!!
RIP ALEXI!
The song at 1:45 is called Eine kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart
Ahaha I liked the Mozart at the end.
To be honest.I really preffered Alexi using the Jackson guitars rather than the Esp ones he uses these days.I just feel the Jackson tone is better for his style of playing.Just saying. This is my opinion.
Alexi is improvising to The Hellion by WASP
what is the song of 0:59?
thats the alexi i like !!
Alexi is ridiculous. Especially the solo at 1:32. He's untouchable!
1:32 is the sickest solo
When he does the tapping...!
thank u so much
RIP King
put it this way, Bodom themselves said they don't wanna be a certain subgenre of metal so they say they're just Metal and nothing else.
thanx ;)
0:35 what solo is this?
Alexi is very good! :).
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
thanks man
Damn, the sound he has here with this Jackson is way better than the sound he has now with his ESP... But he still rocks.
rocking.. and fucking rolling... and fucking rocking... and fucking rolling
best guitarist ever
i saw this dude thursday
lolol! the last solo!! hahahah alexi u rock
So sad he never got those guitars back...
stolen by some loser that i doubt plays guitar/vocals better than alexi
@jbohler33 You can switch the gainboosters off, its the toggle switch on his guitars.
Alexi is the best guitarist in the world !!! :p
@exodusmetal87 It's a jingle composed by Kim Kuusi. "Valiojogurtti (classic)"
starting at 1:03....yes!!!!
When you Alexi Will you play all !
thanks man, you are the best!
omg. PRecision.. HES GOT IT
he is incredible... and considering that its 1999 in the vid,... he was only 20 years old... O_O" he IS THE GOD.
it's the solo from the song "Hellion" by WASP. A song they did a cover on.
@BoondockSaint10175 alexi's version from the song "Hellion"
esp alexi laiho signature
He is so talented! And hot :p

Where can i find this documentary, and is it translated to english (or with subtitles)
"Documentary solos"... why that name? The insert was called "Kuuden kielen maisterit", in English "The Six String maestro's" 👍
alexi laiho!aussi fort que cyrile achard!
and he does it all without the neck pickup!
LMAO, love the ending song. Off spring!
he looks so young!
its all a matter of preference
true but its not just about being able to do it. its about being able to do it like THAT
@jether80 he was using jackson guitars that's why ;-)
Grande Alexi... ha un tocco incredibile!!! Dal vivo l'ho visto 2 volte e riesce ad essere sempre fantastico. Peccato che è un bisex XD
It's actually bach
How old is this? Janne with short hair, Alexi playing on Jackson RR.... O_O wow
thx for releasing! BODOM! \m/
alexi=god
@Jezorful the solo from mr.crowley and hellion have the same riff.
That song kicks so much ass! Both versions!
it's We're not gonna fall : )
watch?v=myCHOKnfh08 Yes he does actually, says so in that interview that the black ESP is his favorite guitar ever!
@XionComrade i'll agree with that blackouts are much better then EMG's, in his old jackson's he had built in pre-amp's with gain boosters built into his guitar so the Guitar was impossible to get a Clean sound out of it no matter what amp you use
2nd solo is hellion...
I think that bit actually broke my speakers...
