Well done, both on the video and the electrical work. I'm installing service for a mobile home, so this helped a bunch. I like the way you go with the white, instead of the typical open wood. It's a much cleaner looking set-up.
Nice job on the electric service, you kept it nice and neat, I’ve done construction for 22 years I try to keep my panels neat as well, makes them easier to work, enjoyed the video and as always looking forward to the next one have a good weekend
That was another great video Sir ! Very educational, and a very neat job !! Well done Scott !! Hope you and your family are doing well !! William and Patricia
I’m currently hooking up power to my New mobile home. On a mobile home do I need to have my ground rods connected from my meter base like you did here instead of from the main panel in the house?
fighting with the main wire, could you have undone the right angle pipe on the bottom to pull back a short enough distance as opposed to remove the main bars? you only needed 1 inch? you mentioned this but chose another way
HELP, please. We have a 97 Pennical doublewide Zone III. One by one the recepticals are failing and a few switches. The recepticals actually start scorching. One actually caught fire. One company refused the job. They said it would take up too much time. They suggested I move. Or get somewhere cheaper like a zone 1 or a shed. I was referred by a business owner to an independent worker. He has come out and said that the neutral bar is bad. I have the cover off the panel (Cutler Hammer 200 Amp interior Main panel, original. The service is on a pole) I see absolutely no obvious damage or loose wiring. He said his meter showed 0 ( I think) It is all too much. He said he was surptised than any of the recepticals are working. He put the meter on it. He also found nothing loose. I allowed him to order a new bar (already paid for it.) I dont know much about electric supply for a house (I have done things like running new wires and installing recepticals and breakers.) I also ran the 220 for my former home. But this has me baffled. I tried to replace switch to outside light and gave up. It has the push in type fidgit box with the blades. I know that mobile homes are different. Ive been told that trailer panels have their own grounding. ??? I just need your opinion as to this issue. Ive been trying ever since my husband passed to get someone to help me fix it. Ive called every name Ive been given. Only 3 have shown up in 7 years. I ran the first one off. He was a total jerk. Do you think that he or I might be missing something? Call me desperate.
I would first call your electric company to come out and make sure the transformer is supplying your home with the correct voltage...Mobile homes do not have their own ground, they still need 2 8' ground rods 6' apart...I'd be surprised if the panel is bad but easiest way would be to replace it...about $300 in parts/materials...
I had the power come and check as you suggested, Ther checked at the transformer and by the meter base. He said it was almost perfect. He did make another suggestion. Still waiting for the electrician to recover from emergency surgery.@@southernhomesteadtransformatio
The wires leaving the outside disconnect are in conduit but come under the house without conduit into a 50amp receptical the plug in and that cord runs to my breaker box and is grounded to the water pipe is this code in 1976 and how can I fix it to be code
Not sure I completely understand what you are describing but the meter box should have a 8' ground rod (I actually use 2, 6' apart) anything after that should not be grounded.
@@southernhomesteadtransformatio Having a ground to the water pipes is as absolutely necessary if the pipes are copper or metal. It's to bond those pipes to the grounding system so if there's a short, such as in the washing machine, it has a reliable path to ground instead of energizing the water.
An excellent job. So many times I see mobile homes where the feeder wire is just laid on top of the ground under the mobile home with no pipe. 1 question, why did you pull a solid ground through the pipe, why not use stranded? Also when making up the 4/0 if you shove the wire down in the pipe and then mark the bottom of the lug to cut the wire. When you put it in the lug you pull up and it fits perfect. Last thing I noticed is that you don't need a ground wire from the panel to meter. The rigid nipple is your ground. Also the neutral wire is bonded to the can at the first disconnect which becomes your fault path.
Kemps Maintenance Service from the Bahamas 🇧🇸 blog in sir next time you could used a peace of 1 1/4” pvc pipe just to bend the wire into any angle 📐 you want it to be in its way more easier trust me

Thank you Jeffrey , glad I could help & good luck with yours!
Been doing electric for 35yrs..thats one nice service. But here we need a bond bushing on ridged 2" nipple.. its non-fused wire
Here too, I forgot to install it first...I cut it and installed it after the fact...cut to the rear 🙃

Thanks Brian, You too!
I wish I had a true craftsmen like yourself around these parts, they are few and far between. Regards OAG🇨🇦🇺🇸
Job well done nice and neat and ready for the power company.
Thanks Scruffy!

Good job well done. It's coming together bit by bit.
Thanks Don!
Oh, Thank you so much for reminding me to call the power co. They will try to come today.
You are very welcome!...Glad they are coming out quickly...

You should have a main disconnect outside as well so that's where your ground will go...
What gauge wire do you use from inside breaker box to the disconnect? And how many
4/0 aluminum or 2/0 copper
fighting with the main wire, could you have undone the right angle pipe on the bottom to pull back a short enough distance as opposed to remove the main bars? you only needed 1 inch? you mentioned this but chose another way
John, that would have worked but there was enough play thankfully that it went in with without a fuss....surprisingly 😊
I wish you lived close by us I would have you do this one lol
Awesome job.!!
Thanks James!
Hi what type of materials being used here?Like the pvc pipe and the wire (sizing)
Wire is 4/0 Aluminum, 2" pvc
Great Job Man !! On to the Next....lolol Have a Great Evening.....
Thanks Keith 😁

What permits are needed for that kind of work?
Permit for mobile home (includes electric & plumbing) and septic/ sewer
Did ya split the bushing or did ya unhook it all afterwards
i have wired a lot of 4/0 i put a lope in it makes it easy to put in the bus bar but i,m not the one doing the job
You could of also unscrewed the lugs from the busbar and slide it through .
You could bend it with a wrench
What did you exactly use for the panels?
Michael, both the meter base and service disconnect are Eaton...200 amp with 4 external spots.
I sure would have used copper.
Me too, If It was available....The south does not know what copper is.

Dawm are you an electrician?
Yes
Thanks for asking but I don't work for hire anymore.....
Friendly fire in your neck of the woods..... around here somebody is getting shot ! Or robbed
Not legal has to be mounted to a pole.
Remember this is a Mobile Home, it has a registration just like your car, so this is an RV park not a house.
Nope, that's the way it's done....
@@southernhomesteadtransformatio no it has to be mounted to a approved power pole
Wow, imagine that, I have been doing this for 39 years and every building inspection has passed, even this one....go figure.....
@@southernhomesteadtransformatio it is amazing that people that do not live where you do know your code go figure lol.
