I remember romper room. I’m 61 and yes, I remember her holding up the mirror and calling out kid names. I used to jump up and down when she would call out mine and my sisters names and scream with delight. Good memories

Bev, I also watched Romper Room, and I remember the young girl and the mirror clock looked through. Don't you just wish our children and grandchildren could see those shows. They were so meaningful and provided so much love and kindness everyday.

Hi Bev, as always I enjoy the decorating of you beautiful home. I too remember Romper Room. I also always wanted her to call my name, but never got to hear it on television. Remember at the end of each broadcast she would look through her “Magic mirror “ and recite “romper, bomper, stomper boo. Tell me, tell me, tell me do. Magic mirror, tell me today, did all my friends have fun at play? “She would then name the children’s names that she saw in TV land. That’s when the names came in from everyone who mailed in request to be read on the air. My sister Janet was called…but never mine. This would be in the mid 60s. Good memories! ! You might recall WonderRama, Hobo Kelly & Bozo the clown. Hobo Kelly had magic glasses as well. Lol…such simple joy!
It ‘s called, “life over 60 with Sandra.” She shares lots of wisdom there.

I have "The Visitor". I've had it for maybe 30-35 years. I should look for its companion.
I also watched Romper Room when I was a child (I am 73). I thought you might find this interesting: "At the end of each broadcast, the hostess would look through a "magic mirror"-actually an open frame with a handle, the size, and shape of a hand mirror-and recite the rhyme, "Romper, bomper, stomper boo. Tell me, tell me, tell me, do. Magic Mirror, tell me today, did all my friends have fun at play?" She would then name the children she saw in "television land", saying, for example, "I can see Kathleen and Owen and Julie and Jimmy and Kelly and Tommy and Bobby and Jennifer and Martin" and so forth. Children were encouraged to mail in their names, which would be read on the air (first names only)."

The show was called Romper Room and the woman with the mirror now has a You Tube channel that I am subscribed to. She has a fascinating life story and has written a book, too.

Lovely Bev. Everyone with a home decorating channel right now is showing nothing but patriotic decor. This is such a welcome change. Love how you used the clocks you love to collect. Also, what a trip down memory lane. I watched Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo every single day until I started school. Just like you I always thought I would hear my name spoken on air. It never happened but I never gave up hoping. I did however have a pair of romper stickers and absolutely loved them. Oh those were good times!💖😀

Your beautiful Lafontaine books are real treasures. I looked them up on Etsy & eBay. They didn’t have any as pretty as yours. The older editions were extremely pricey, hundreds of dollars. Yours are very beautiful. Love your decorating style.

Bev-no fair! YOU have the best 👌 TOYS! Over time my favs have been those clock faces, vintage clocks, and the antique ducks you have. I love everything and now that brass duck head. You've gotten all the goodies. Really....and great job on the book shelves. Did I mention I love those beautiful books and the art of the children. And, of course, Romper Room's Miss Nancy was one of my favorites along with Captain Kangaroo. Miss Nancy never called my name on my birthday. I think mom's had to send them in maybe. I often wish my grandchildren could have seen these shows along with Howdy Doody, Mr Roger's, etc. Today there's not much to watch. Miss Nancy always made me happy. Thanks for making me smile today!

Your bookshelves are just beautiful! I love how you decorate with unexpected ways like opening the clock face and how you use the different clocks in your decor. Also, I wouldn't have thought of turning the wreath to the side like that but I love it. You always do such beautiful things in your home decor.

Beverly, thank you for sharing the Romper Room memory with us. It was a regular part of my morning for years. And I do love Everything you do! I am an Old World, French and English Country lover as well. I always wait for your videos. I wanted to share with you that I am also of much German heritage. And my Grandson works in a local German restaurant owned by a couple who came here from Germany. Occasionally he will bring me Schnitzel and Spaetzel. We had my Mother's Day dinner there and it was Fabulous! Everything there is authentic recipes and even their beers are imported. I wish you were closer, I would take you there. I am in the Florida Panhandle, so if you ever get this wsy, please let me know.

You're teaching me how to embellish my floral arrangements with fruit and clock accessories. I love old french clocks! The vintage gold color of the clock and container box are similar. You blend different metals very nicely. For the most part, I've always separated them. I'll have to take a walk on the wild side & mix it up!
I used to have a collection of old fable books painted on linen cloth pages. You would have enjoyed them, I'm.sure.
How did you learn to make such professional, eye catching, and unique floral arrangements? You truly have that mastered!

In your last video you tied a ribbon around a candlestick and I loved it. In the summer I add more color into my decor and ended up using that idea when I was redoing the top of my Bombay chest.
I would look at what I had, but it just seemed off - I don't know any other way to explain it other than off. That aha moment just didn't come, so I would fiddle with it some more. Quite often if I'm not sure of something I'll grab my phone and take a picture, somehow looking at it through a different perspective helps to see where something is off. I kept looking at the picture when I suddenly remembered your video. I ran downstairs and grabbed a yellow and white striped ribbon, tied it around the candlestick and voila! Perfection!! Thank you so much for your videos, they are so inspiring - I always see something I want to remember and emulate.

I just picked up the aged black and gold pot last week but mine has more yellow with pretty florals, they were a set of 3 different sizes, I only got the bigger one. Lol!!! My sister always called me her little Do Bee! Yes, those cars were amazing! I always wanted to make one. We always created musical instruments with card board boxes and the neighbor kids would come by for a concert! 🤣😂🤣 Great memories!❤️

I subscribe to Life Over Sixty with Sandra. She was Miss Sandra on Romper Room. She is in her eighties now. I never heard my name called either.
I love those paintings. They remind me of the painting I found recently at a yard sale. It was late in the day when we got there. I turned the corner and froze when I saw a painting with a beautiful, ornate gold frame. It was of a young girl who was holding a book. I coundn't believe someone had not bought it already. There were only about 4 people there but I just knew someone was going to snatch it up before I could walk the distance to claim it. I started praying that I would be able to make it. When I got close I thought the price read $40.00. My hands shook as I fished my glasses out of my pocket and couldn't believe the price was only $10.00! My husband took it up to pay for it and bargained the lady down to only $6.00. The painting is called The Story Book which was painted by William-Adolphe Bouguereau in 1877. It's one of those magical things that I will keep forever.
What a wonderful treasure you came across! Sometimes I believe the pieces simply find us. I never thought so many of my comments would reflect the memories of Romper Room!
