In 1973, when we'd ditch school at Franklin H.S. in Highland Park to hike to Switzer falls, the water in the pool was deeper. We'd be able to jump off from the top of the fall into the water. It looks only thigh-high now. Storm water must have washed silts down there and filled the pool right up. I'd never dare to do what we did back then. Thanks for showing me around at a place I haven't visited in decades and decades, and decades. "Maine" says "hello".
I was there about a week ago but did not make it down to that waterfall , sadly I ran out of time so I headed back . Will be looking to it soon to be back again and accomplish it , Awesome video !!!! Cheers 🍻
Very cool! The lower falls reminds me of a small fall on Santa Cruz Island in The Central Valley, as you have to rock scramble up a cliff to go above the falls. And that’s where I stopped! Beautiful 👍
I almost died there in 1978. The people I was with took me on the upper trail. It was slippery and I fell into the fall shoes and all. I fell perfectly into the hole made by the water and made my way up to the surface after 20 seconds of struggling to swim up only to be hit by a torrent of water. At that time there was a steel cable to get over a large Boulder that required that you hang with your feet on the Boulder, mountain climber style to get over the Boulder. I didn’t like the idea of hanging in mid air like that and tried crawling over the Boulder. Turning back was not an option as it was a jump to get back on the trail.
Please check out Whitney Canyon Falls in Santa Clarita California, not really flowing yesterday, but a trickle. It has many levels and drops about 200 feet.
It was really hot but we started at 7:30 or so and there is only one section on the way out without shade. The dip in the water made that section not too bad.
I love your videos! Thank you for being very professional. Through them, I've been able to find awesome places!. Just a question. Have you done Mendocino area?

California Through My Lens how hot was it?
It was really hot but we started at 7:30 or so and there is only one section on the way out without shade. The dip in the water made that section not too bad.
California Through My Lens that’s the only problem with inland hikes during the summer. We have had to travel up to big bear for cooler weather.
@@birdbeardbeauty agreed, it is hot at the lower level hikes right now!
Thanks a lot, I'm going there this weekend!
No problem, have fun!
I'll stay at lower. That made me so nervous!

Any mountain lions we should worry about??

Amazing! I never knew about this hike. Do you remember how much parking was?
You just need a National Forest pass! And be aware, the rangers around there check for the passes on your mirror often.
