Love using the seed number after I've upscaled, to create images from the same starting point. You can do this by reacting with an envelope emoji on an image you upscale - then use the prompt with that seed number (e.g. --seed 123456) and you'll get similar results to the image you originally upscaled. Let me know if this helps!
@@Yabin8 Are you using MJ bot in your own server? It should DM you. If you're in a channel, it should appear as a message with you tagged. Also, are you reacting to an image you've upscaled?
honestly great video format , i love the edits that display the changed parameter and immediately show the effect afterwards. Really helpful for someone learning to shape their midjourney outcomes.
Thank you so much for sharing this.. the seed parameter has changed my whole flow, and has made midjourney an actual usable tool for creating new works.. I do enjoy a bit of random elements in my work, but I do not want the entire piece to be completely random, the seed parameter has allowed me to work with a single image and begin to manipulate it in different ways, which also has helped hone my prompt skills and there effects on the various modelsm. Previously I did not know what effect a single change was having on the image as a different seed can literally change everything about the image notably composition and style choices, elements you may be thinking you are changing with your word choices.. so thank you again for making this so incredibly clear for everyone that is exploring midjourney... For anyone reading this who hasn't explored the --seed function give it a try.. and experiment with your phrases.. I literally use this now in 98% of my generations now.. a must have for me

Thank you for this awesome tutorial!! 👍But why do you hate the 4th attempt of the train prompt? 0:47. Personally I like it quite as well as the first ones. It might be because you are viewing it from a different picture angle?.. Also, I am wondering why people still keep writing the (--v 4), where it is already set by Midjourney by Default. it will not change the version unless you choose lower versions below v4. Now version 5 has arrived. You forgot to explain from where and How are we going to find that Seed Number?
Great content! I love how you actually teach. I'm having trouble getting started on MidJourney, would you consider doing a noobie tutorial where you take a concept from beginning to end including the prompt creating into Chatgpt? That would be wonderful, ty for your consideration.
Two points that are critical: 1. You can only use seed values from initial prompt results, not upscales - which to me makes it pretty redundant as it is not taking cues from a singular image, which is what we want. 2. Seed values can of course direct the flow of image creation, but what this video does not mention, is that your base style setting determines ALL results. If you're using 5.1, and you use a seed value, you will get wildly different results if your base style values are set to either low (0.5) base/medium (1) high (1.5) or very high (2). Put simply, seed values only really work in any predictable way, if you have your base style setting fixed at low or base. Any higher and Midjourney will do whatever the hell it wants. I'll be honest, it is the most brilliant and most teeth pulling infuriating bit of software I've ever used, and I've been using the most inane teeth pulling code driven software professionally for over three decades.
How can I assign a seed number to an uploaded image in Midjourney, for example to keep the same face. I was only able to assign a seed number to an image generated by Midjourney but to an uploaded image.
Is there any way to reference a scene instead of a character? --sref just copies the style. What if i want variations of the same scenery? Like my house for example, same house but maybe it looks older.
Helo!!! This tip is incredible!! But which is the number of each image??? I can't figura out that!!! Can you help me please??? So i could write --seed (and the number of my image that i don't know where is it!!!!) HELP! Thank you!!!!
Great work as always, your videos have helped me a lot in my midjourney journey =D but got a question for you. what do you think of sports prompts? I seem to always get some weird not real stuff. Thanks and keep the good work ;)
Can’t see a single other person asking or answering this. Makes me wonder if people actually use the software or just imagine themselves doing so while watching UA-cam videos about it.
Apparently you choose the number. It works like programming parameters, where you will tell midjourney through the seed number where it should refer to. So for example if you put "--seed 1" and generate 4 images, and then tell the prompt again to generate another image using "-seed 1" it will use the first result as an parameter of what it should do. You're basically telling midjourney you want to generate 4 new images using the same style of the first one, which will give you similar results to your first prompt, but will adapt to your new commands. I hope I managed to explain it clearly.
interesting information, i just have one question: if you start a new project, but you use again a seed number that you used before, what happens? thanks!
Hey Glibatree, I appreciate your efforts and your tips! Nontheless, as far as I can see I am not the only one who is struggling with understanding your explanation of the seed's implementation into the prompts. Is there any chance you can break it down in a more digestable way mate? :) Thanks in advance!
hey there, nice video as always! Was wondering if you know a way to have the generated character in a image to be positioned either left or right and maybe zoomed out so it doesn't take the full space... Thanks mate and keep these videos coming!
i don't know if it's just a.i. messing with me, but the majority of the images Midjourney creates have weird random flaws. /imagine a cute happy corgi on a beach with pink sunglasses, tropical drink , palm tree, etc......results: 1. a corgi with no sunglasses. 2. tropical drink's straw is spliced and part of it is floating in the air. 3 tropical drink has oranges, and corgi has an orange oddly melting off it's ear. And after two hours of messing and tweaking with this...I grew tired. I used Dalle for awhile and gave up, because images constantly were degraded and dumbed down...almost like the a.i. creates one decent image and purposefully creates 3 bad images. It works hard on one, and phones in its performance on the other 3 images, knowing u will most likely select the best composition...if you have a brain in your head.

Thanks for this! I’m still confused about when and why you would use a seed number as opposed to an image reference url, how exactly those each impact the outcome. ELI5?
Image reference URLs are their own beast, tbh. You use them when you want certain traits from an image to appear in your prompt. In the pipeline, I have a while video about these and it's surprisingly complex. On the other hand, seed is really for limiting randomness - and to help you predict and understand the impact of changing your prompt.
Thanks for the reply! So where you can’t exactly pick which traits you’d like to be consistent with an image url, do you usually just stick with seeds when you’re refining an image? (Just having the seed control for randomness like you said) I’ve been using multiple image urls to try to get a consistent character, but it still doesn’t do a great job at all. Though seeds haven’t been much better 🤷♀️
@@tsamb3756 Exactly yes. You will have a much easier time controlling the traits of your character by setting the seed and using text. (Though keep in mind, aspects of your character will still change if you change too much about the scene) Probably the key for consistent characters is some combination.

You can also lock in a style with more elaborate detailed prompts. No need for --seed. If your prompts are just a lazy couple of words, it's going to be random each time because you are leaving more room for MJ to fill in the blanks.
I do not understand how or why in this video the sentence "you create art work" is In any way shape or form true..hey you want to use ai go ahead but don't pretend that the user of a program like midjourney is creating anything even remotely close to art.
