Jacob's attempted point about drawfee on tv in 1993 is particularly funny because:
a) fanmail campaigns absolutely existed all the way back to the beginning of tv
b) much like the popular 1993 tv show America's Funniest Home Videos, their show does require viewer submissions.
Lol my country's popular children's program even had a full jingle/song with the lyrics just being the address of their PO box, so every kid and now adult could literally sing the address to you xD Everyone knew where to send their drawings, at least :'D

the callout at 2 minutes felt strangely appropriate. I was just talking about this channel with my wife and checked to see what they were up to, only to realize it was a portrait vid! The last time I saw a Drawfee video was the most recent portrait video, just like they teased.
Turning Jacob's "nice nice episode" "nice nice nice nice episode" into morse (by taking nice as one symbol and episode as the other) results in either ..- ...- or --. ---.
I used a morse code transtor to determine that Jacob said UV for the first option or GØ (Ø is a letter in the Noewegian or Danish alphabet, and is more closely pronounced as the i in bird or the u in hurt. So itd be like,,, guh).
In danish GØ means to bark or howl.
Therefore jacob either is talking about the sun, or is a puppy. Thankyou for coming to my ted talk

This past year (2023-2024) the Drawfee portraits have been my favorites overall and I’m sad to see them go, but I con’t wait to get used to these new ones because they all look wonderfully silly and amazing!

I haven’t watched drawfee in a long time so seeing both your 2023 portraits and new 2024 ones was a shock, heres for more “chillness” and getting taller for this year and the next!
There was a short monent before double nathan, where i thought his big swing for the year was going to be boob windows. I am both disappointed and delighted.

On a serious note, the reason that I love the yearly redesigns is how they showcase each and every one of you growing as artists. It's a nice turn of the page and bookmark of progression. It's a brilliant tradition imo.

I really enjoy seeing Julia's evolution in art style, Jacob going from tiny little gremlin man into doing what he seems to think of more as "serious art", Karina continuing her delve into deeper levels of gremlin, and Nathan finding new levels of self deprecation despite the best efforts of the audience.
Last year Julia shed her mortal flesh and became an entity of pure spirit. This year, Julia bound her spirit to a flesh construct. Cycles are beautiful

Julia proposing making her portrait a sardine despite not even eating sardines has led me to realize that she embodies true randomness. Most people think of random as “pineapple, zebra, octopus, wow so random”, but I’m convinced that Julia’s brain is actually a network of mysterious fungus or something, because I cannot comprehend her thought process. Even if she’s doing it on purpose to be funny, she’s still captured randomness in a way most others have failed to.

It was also interesting to discuss how portraits have evolved over the years and the mixed reactions they receive. I laughed, especially when I was joking about wanting to evoke a divisive reaction with my persona. 🧠 Recalling the creative process and the uniqueness of each portrait, it was really enjoyable to see the team playfully exchange jokes. 💬

The one I’ve most disliked in the past was one of Nathan’s that was beloved. It’s the one with the closed eyes. Looked like it’s melting to me, especially with its body shape, so it seemed a little grotesque. I thought it seemed creepier than Julia’s eye-horror (which didn’t bother me at all) but literally everyone else loved that Nathan avatar and thought it was really cute and comforting. You can’t please everyone, and I was apparently the single person displeased lol so I can’t gauge how people react to these things

Jacob's portrait looks like he's the weird guy who chills out at the skate park at 2:00am and hands you the absolute stankiest green. Then he teaches you how to skate, but dies early on the movie. But just before you're competing at [big tournament] against your protagonist rival, Jacob's ghost shows up and give you winning advice as well as another hit of your career-changing green.
I want to clarify though that you DO end up losing because you decided to hit a bowl of that good shit just before skating. Not a great idea for the competition really in hindsight
