  • A longer test ride on this machine to make sure all is well after the top end was treated to a rebore, new piston and rings at Performance Classics. Usually when a machine manages this long, steady climb after a rebuild, it is good to go.

Brave man! My first few runs after major engine work on my Triumphs take me no more than walking distance from home! And I don't stop it in case I can't get it going again. Clearly, you have much more confidence (and rightly so) in your ability than I do mine! Nice bike.

Thanks for that! TBH, once, on another Ariel [500 single], I experienced a breakdown coming back down from the top of that route and I made nearly 7 miles by freewheeling and pushing, without too much trouble! this one is a nice bike, at last, but not mine. I think it is ready to go home soon.

What kind of speeds where you able to maintain on the 350 at the most? And in the hills?

To be fair, I had only just rebuilt the top end with a rebore and new piston and rings, so I was probably only doing between 40 and 50 mph most of the time. It will be able to go faster in comfort when it has done a few hundred more miles. It seemed to cope ok going up the long uphill pull, but 3rd gear was needed at times.
