  • In this video you will see how easily cut off the fringes of your Russian Shawl. I have a lot of Russian shawls and I found that they are more wearable without fringes.
    The shawl’s name is “Words of love” 57”x57” (145 x 145cm)
The pink silk shawl at the end is Silk shawl “Magnificent Century” 49 x 49” (125x125cm):
These are some lovely Russian shawls:
    "My pretty mirror" 148 x 148 cm / 58.27" x 58.27". tidd.ly/47FBcE0
    "Vasilisa", 58”x58” , 148x148cm tidd.ly/4176YqY

I like the scarf both ways...I need a wardrobe of Russian scarves! Who do you recommend?

Thank you! You can check the link in the description. The seller has a lot of authentic Russian scarves from Pavlovo Posad. Wool and silk are amazing quality. The cotton scarves are not so good, the colors are not stable :( You can check my Russian Shawls playlist, there are 2 videos with "Parcels from Russia", you will see all my Russian scarves. Many of them exist in different colors. Also, there is a great video about authentication of Russian scarves. There are a lot of fakes on the market. Elena

Thanks! I love the fringes, but my favorite Ukrainian scarf started shedding badly, Now I know it ok to take off the fringes so I can still wear the beautiful scarf

It does look good without the fringe! My Pavlovo Posad shawls are the only ones I have with a fringe so I may just keep them as they are. I'm fearful of the wrath I may incur from the lady who spent so much time applying them at the factory if I remove them LOL!

Thank you for your comment Maureen! Actually, they are applied by a machine. There are bigger shawls with the fringes that look like a net. They are handmade LOL! Elena

I'm so afraid to cut the fringes off my vintage Pavlovo Posad shawl, the starts of the fringe are tied together in diamond pattern 4 times. I would wear it more often without the fringe, but what if I ruin the traditional look of it, what should I do? :/ The fringe is really long, 25 cm total.

Yes, I know these fringes, they are beautiful. I understand you completely. I have a few more shawls to cut the fringes off but I still wait. Even for me it's not easy. But, I have to admit , that the shawls that I cut off the fringes I wear and enjoy much more now . It still look traditional, bit more adapted to my wardrobe. Have you seen the series of my video with this scarf?ua-cam.com/play/PL1VQgrW1jRDCbiTTlot-NVJWwaxnBP5Hh.html it's traditional Russian shawl, made of silk. I cut the fringes from it too. No regret at all.
I wish you good luck and support you in any decision what you will make. Elena

I can't think of any good reason to destroy such lovely scarves by removing the fringes!
