She's teaching a seminar in Santa Barbara November 6-8. No details yet, but keep an eye on their website. You can subscribe to their newsletter, as well...

Watching this again and always find it a beautiful demo ... great application of circles and redirection of structure in the sphere!!

I love all the negative comments on this video. Especially those from people who "are aikidoka" or "marshall artists". If this was indeed the case, you would understand that this is a demonstration, not cage fighting. It is not the intention or philosophy of Aikido to beat people senseless. Lia Suzuki is a real Sensei who upholds the highest standards in everything she does. All those with talk about "I can beat you" have neither any real knowledge nor a brain.

But whats the purpose of the dance then? Efficacy is zero

@@Batette What is the purpose of trolling topics you dont like? You dont see us Aikidokas trolling kickboxing or mma and leaving juvenile comments.
If you like tennis, why watch and comment on a badminton video and make some "insightful" comments that badminton is stupid and not "real" because they dont use a ball and the net is too high.
hidden behind your screen, like all anonymous trolls, you are not afraid to show your ignorance.
What you are probably refering to are competetive fighting sports. These are sports, entertainment, not a self defense system. Profesional people like police, army, body guards, all chose Aikido or similar jujutsus which teach arresting and controlling techniques. These are valuable skills in a real situation.
Lastly, any mma fighter loses in a freefight against any wrestler or judoka with 6 month training. Facts. Kicking and punching seem to score rather low effective, even in "the octagon".

@@JustMe-vz3wd Overall, Aikido as a self defense system DOES NOT WORK, especially this kind of bullshit in the video. There are very few techniques that can be applicable (Kote Gaeshi, Irimi nage) and some styles (Tissier, Bachrathy, Seagal) that are direct enough to lead you somewhere. No offense, I’m a absolute insider, try to shit someone else..

Nice, especially the koshi and sutemi waza. She sometimes presenting the hands and body position like a victim, but at all without force, smooth and straight movements. The body language could be more confident.

I wouldn't take a ukemi from Lia sensei coz i'd still be standing!! Has she taken Ukemi from Tony Sergeant? Morihiro Saito? Hitohiro Saito? Bjorn Saw? Ulf Evenas? Allesandro Titterelli?? Your argument is invalid.

I Love this video.. Lia Suzuki sensei has a good control.. we could see that she could hurt the "uke" anytime if she want, but she's obviously a good teacher that teach how to control uke..
however.. in daily life, "to hurt" someone is easier than "to control", isn't it?? ^_^
haha.. Good Atari and Good Musubi.. Love to see it..
Thanks for upload this video.. ^_^

good control but extremely un realistic attacks coming at her. She has good technique except that Shiho-Nage. Throwing someone the 2nd and third time without them having the chance to regain their balance shows less about control and more about cheating. That is IF we are studying a true martial martial art. The bokken attacks were pretty strong but notice how few of them there were.

Chiba sensei was aikikai. Was his aikido soft too? You are a tomiki guy with a bias opinion

    • @towag
      @towag 3 роки тому

@@simonedwards5220 No, Chibas aikido was typically aikikaii old hard style, but like all of them, we have never seen them compete or fight, so I always look at all their aikido with a pinch of salt ... I liked aikido, but I moved on from it and did something of a mix with the other MA I did ...We experimented & tested it against full resistance, something not done in ALL the other styles...Even Tomiki style was limited in its randori shiai as it didn't allow for kicking, punching only the stupid tanto randori it had, but at least there was toshu randori shiai which was at least something, which was taken from the the judo perspective, I see it as part of a jigsaw which it has it uses, but it still lacks and is more of an exercise sport system... And you?
