But These movies today reclaim all of that.

I can totally relate, I remember researching soooo hard in the 2000s for these films. I am sure there's more, but yeah you totally got the best ones on this list for sure. I was a kid when I saw "Fried Green Tomatoes" and I remember watching it over and over on HBO whenever it came out. I knew I was attracted to girls when I was just seven. It was crazy. I had no one to talk to about it, and no one to really look up to. I thought I was just too different from everybody else. But that film really resonated with me, and somehow gave me comfort.
I have watched 3 lesbian movies. #1 is Carla and Hanna. #2 is Carla and Susanne. #3 is Carla and Stella. Marlene and Rebecca. Nicole is in several soaps. Maeve, Maya, Zara. These are the names of the ladies who are in the soaps with her. Cheers!

I used to rewatch fried green tomatoes too, for years and years, still thinking I was straight. I would rewatch the food fight scene and her birthday scene and the picnic scene and just be like... "I wish I had a friendship like this." Lol. I was in so much denial.

Born in 1955 1967 knew I was gay ..but there wasn't a word or anyone like me in Welsh valleys. ..abusive adopted mother (mental problems that also were not talked about) she still haunts me for how much my mind, soul and life was changed by her, wanting a clone of her..far to much to talk here, still destroyed by her and she is long gone. I'm still gay but oh so so damaged. .we have progressed. .for me it's too late, mentally. Xx love to all xx and thanks

@@LesbianMojo had to go to try and find myself ..went to turkey ..I did a little saving the hurt, lost animals whom I have a connection ..still here still trying ..a 3 leg who would have died, dog a throw from car, a old lush dog who found me when I moved 2 baby goats 1 left under a tree to die ..1 months later who is deformed and loves his big bro...so not good with love and relationships.. But I must be good in other ways. Thank you for your lovely thoughts XXX

Have seen several of these. Am surprised Elena Undone is not on the list, unless it came out a year after the time frame for this episode. Desert Hearts is one I can watch over and over. Saw it in the theater when it was first released.

Seen them all more than once (and maybe more🤓). Years ago I saw an interview with the actress from Fried Green Tomato’s and they said although Hollywood didn’t want them to be lovers they decided between the two of them and perhaps the director , they were going to play it as lovers, which maybe why we understood the subtext so easily , unless one had read the book

It was Gia for me. I was in 6th grade then when I first saw the movie. I was even watching it with my mom. It was a great way of understanding my true identity and subtly coming out to my mom at the same time.
That's great, a shame that it is such a hard and sad story at the end. I remember watching the film when I was younger and thinking how sad she died that way, in an era where aids were such a taboo.

The movie was great, it was the first movie ever to be made that didn't revolve around a man, and it didn't have a tragic end; the title also says vintage and classic movies, I couldn't make this list without that movie, maybe because of my age I love it so much. Imagine you & me was cute, The Margarethe Cammermeyer story Serving in Silence was good, My days of mercy was decent… Cloudburst was good, Freeheld was good.
It came out in '85. I saw it in ' 86 in a big theater when it came to our city. Were you out then? It was a different time. First lesbian movie from major company (Samuel Goldwyn Meyer) that had not only real actresses, but was also professionally done. I am grateful to Helen Shaver and Patricia Charbanneau (sp ?) for the risk they took to make this groundbreaking film.
@@gerirousculp3010 I was 10. Clearly gay, but no, I wasn’t out. The 80’s were all filled witchcraft and quicksand scary times. I watched it maybe 8 years later when I came out and hungry for anything that represented me & this film was like 😬 it clearly didn’t age that well. I mean I can still watch movies made from 10+ years ago now that are just so much better. Also, there’s many fairly worse than this one too. It’s more of a “why is this particular one regarded so highly”. It wasn’t a great script or great acting or had characters that had great energy together. I dread having to rewatch it to write a book/movie report here on it.
Personally, I find Desert Hearts beautiful. I have watched it several times, and there's something special about it. Perhaps because it was the first ever "queer" film i've ever seen
My favourite character on the film was Walter and Silver/Silvia. Now, Silver, she's the kind of person who you can sit with and talk about good and bad. She's delightful, and i enjoyed her character as well as the film.
