Seriously "portrait of a lady on fire" is an actual ART visualization. You can find any art aspect in it. Masterpiece music, painting, literature, etc. The meaning of every dialogue and the feeling underneath every scene is mindblowing.

OMG The Handmaiden is my top one as well!!! Ever since I saw it, I just keep rewatching it and so Carol!
I love Kyss Mig so much despite its obvious flaws, i.e. jumping into a relationship after one go and the unfaithful fiancee. Still, the chemistry! Portrait is one of my very favorite as well.
Not sure those are flaws since they represent real life situations. .
Also worth considering: Eloise, Seventeen (Seibzhen), La Luciérnaga (Firefly), Show me Love, Ich Will Dich, Die Konkurrentin, Butterfly (Hu Die), Moonlit Winter, Zwischen Sommer Und Herbst (Between Summer and Fall), Benedetta and many others.

I love Kiss Me. I have watched it several times. Also, "More Beautiful for Having Been Broken. " W watch the directors cut. Both of my favorites.

I do like movies like "badhai do", "ek ladki ko dekha to esa laga" and "maja ma" but no one beats the "FIRE" (it was a revolutionary film in Indian cinema)

A little known German TV movie called " Ich Will Dich " ( I want You) - 2014 is quite good . I cannot find it in DVD format but it is on dailymotion with subtitles . The lead actress looks a lot like Cate Blanchette.

Something about this compilation reminds me of the Olympia Pride Film Festival In Washington State. I don't know why. Maybe that was the first time I was immersed in films by and for lesbians and it was exquisite. I really appreciate that "Reaching for the Moon" is on your list. Interesting group, I have seen them all, well almost as I couldn’t finish Blue is the warmest color as for me the male viewpoint became to close to porn. On the other hand kiss me was wonderful and then think of when it was made, hard to believe. Then we come to for me the most beautiful movie I have ever seen, Portrait of a lady on fire, the lighting, the framing was beyond belief , one could cut a frame out and put it on a wall as pure art. Definitely a movie from the female gaze
What? Hard to believe Kyss Mig was made in 2011? Not really. Sweden has been a progressive country when it comes to lgbt subjects since forever. So it really shouldn't come as any surprise

Sleep With Me is worth checking out if you have the time. It's a series with six episodes. I read the lead actress has been crushing on the other lead actress from way back and they've known each other for years before agreeing to do the series.
Where have u seen the episodes? UA-cam only has the first episode (considering i need subtitles ahahha)
I also like Purple Sea an Italian film it had a tragic ending but was still good. There's Fucking Amal a coming of age classic

Everyone seems to mention "the handmaiden" but b4 that and even better than that was Fingersmith. I watched that thing multiple times and it took me that long to catch all the nuiances one could miss, there were SO many layers to it, it was crazy, so many things you didn't see or catch the first time. The Handmaiden is no where near as well crafted. Not to say it wasn't good, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the original.

I really have difficulty with Blue is the Warmest Color. I'll be honest, I have not even watched it, after hearing just how uncomfortable the actresses were throughout the filming. And, how they stated that they felt as if they were being exploited during the film. There is also a lot of controversy with the producer/director. Both actresses stated that he made them do over 100 takes of the extremely intimate scenes. So, that movie is a big NO for me. There are tons of lgbtq films that I love. But for the lesbian films, I think it makes a huge difference when there is a female that is playing the role of director and producer. That's just my opinion though!

Despite all the good reviews, I did not like Blue is the warmest color. I get it, it's French and artistic and stuff, but to a philistine like me, it felt like 3 hours of random scenes. Everything in the film seemed too long - even the sex scenes were too long. They could have cut half the movie, and I doubt anyone would have noticed... And I could have used that time to maybe re-watch some non-American movie that *I* actually enjoyed ... like Fucking Amal (SWE) or Imagine me and you (GBR).
Speaking of, I feel like I should mention Below her mouth (CAN) - it may not be a very good movie, but if male penises and excessive lesbian sex scenes are your thing, it has you covered and it wont take up as much of your time as Life of Adele.
