The behind the scenes had a wonderful little interview with Pryce where he explained how he was 'consumed' by the part of the Master, and how the Master's laugh was a character all of its own. I loved how much fun they seemed to have had :-)
Its honestly hilarious remembering this was made by Moffat. .... I'll explain later. Anyway, "he was never cruel and never cowardly" hmm, interesting line, where have I heard that before?
I loved this when it aired. It was split in to 4 7ish mins parts over the night of comic relief. The behind the scenes was exclusive to the vhs when it came out, liked how Moffat said it will be his only chance to write for Doctor Who on the tele.
CANON! 🙌 Joanna Lumley is the original female Doctor! Richard E. Grant would have been both a great Master and a great Doctor... well... When are you watching The Scream of the Shalka?
The thing about this was in 1999 when Moffat and Atkison did this, they did it like it was proper actual Doctor Who, as they never thought it would come back.
This was actually Jim Broadbent's second appearance as a Spoof-Version of Doctor Who - He had earlier played the title role in a Victoria Wood Sketch a few years earlier
@@solarbirdyz but, what would Joanna be thinking once she had the role? "Oh . .GOD! . . Not more running! I let myself go with Patsy! I'll have to get fit again!!"
Richard E. Grant and Joanna Lumley have always been top choices in my personal Fantasy Doctor League team. Others are Colin Salmon (Moffat did say that Doctor Moon was unofficially his "45th Doctor", something I like to cheer about), David McCallum and Chris Barrie.
I do say Rowan Atkinson as the Doctor was awesome, also Richard E Grant, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Grant and finally the Doctor as a woman Joanna Lumley were also awesome as the Doctor and I say Jonathan Price was awesome in billions of ways as the Master and he looks like an exact clone of the original Master Roger Delgado.
I'm the same I like Blackadder but never liked Mr Bean. Two interesting facts, Joanna Lumley was considered as the Doctor after Tom Baker. Also You should also watch Scream of the Shalka animated adventure, where Richard E Grant plays the 9th Doctor and was almost official before RTD bought it back with Christopher Eccleston.
I loved this and reckon it added towards getting the show recommissioned! The title is a sort of nod to titles like The Deadly Assassin that over-egg the pudding so to speak. Pryce was great as the Master and Lumley the best female Doctor!
Wow..remember watching and taping this off e telly haha!! it was like Blackadder meets Doctor Who!. and Richard E Grant would have made a very good doctor indeed! why? I'll explain later..... 🤣
The actors who played the Doctor in this had been rumoured to take over the role. Also, David Tennant isn’t the first person to get two cracks at being the Doctor - Richard E Grant did it first
@@medusacascade Oops. You're right. In my defense, I watched this pre 5 a.m. on the train to work, so the brain isn't firing on all cylinders yet. I just saw Medusa Cascade in my notifications and hit play immediately.
I was actually doing Dr Who as part of my 2nd year art course at the time and everybody in the student house was piling in on how dodgy the series was - while celebrating it, as students do, for precisely that reason. My memory is of having a complete and utter sense of humour failure about it back then. Mind you, I was about 26. If you're going to have a fucking sense of humour failure - as opposed to the last few days when my life partner has actually died - then that's probably when you're going to do have it.
The planet Terserus was where the Delgado Master became disfigured mentioned in The Deadly Assassin.
even though they pronounced it wrong!😜

Richard E Grant was also Doctor Simeon and The Great Intelligence in The Snowmen, The Bells of St John and The Name of the Doctor.
The black Dalek Supreme in this is awesome too.

Damn I have to see that!
This was my introduction to Doctor Who because I was born during the Wilderness Years
I’ve actually never seen this before. Great cast, especially Joanna Lovely. I mean Lumley. 🥰
Hear hear. You should watch the whole thing.
Funny that if Rowan was the 9th Doctor that made Joanna Lumley the 13th Doctor the same as Jodi
Plus, the Tenth Doctor still likes to lick stuff.
Joanna Lumley was a regular name cropping up for the Doctor. I guess it's not technically too late.
Moffat's master plan, as I call it. Remember watching this on TV live as a kid! Loved it. JOANNA LUMLEY THOUGH! Perfect Doctor material.
GOD YES I would've loved Joanna Lumley as The Doctor. SO good.
@@solarbirdyz but, what would Joanna be thinking once she had the role? "Oh . .GOD! . . Not more running! I let myself go with Patsy! I'll have to get fit again!!"

Ever since 1999, I have always said Jonathan Pryce was the best Master we never had.
One of the best spoofs of classic Doctor Who but then it was written by Steven Moffat.

They should have picked her and spared us the woke "first female doctor".
Richard E. Grant was brilliant as the Doctor in the Animated 'Scream of the Shalka' which was on BBC iplayer in 2003.
Joanna Lumley, the first female Doctor, also playing the 13th Doctor.
This was 3 years after 1996 The TV Movie came out.
I never cared for Mr. Bean, myself, but Blackadder is certainly worth watching, and closer to RA's portrayal here.
Same, Bean is not something I watched more than once.
Blackadder is something else. Especially the first season which people diss for some reason.
I loved this and reckon it added towards getting the show recommissioned! The title is a sort of nod to titles like The Deadly Assassin that over-egg the pudding so to speak. Pryce was great as the Master and Lumley the best female Doctor!
The year this came out I was 30 and this Dr Who story was awesome in billions and trillions of ways.
Truly joyous loved it needs to be an extra on EVERY new release
Love this one, such a great comic relief episode and part of my wishes Johnathan was actually the master too
@@joshbostock_2040 like a Moffat sneak preview
I believe the Master mentioned Turserus in "The Power of the Doctor" the other day...
Have you watched BlackAdder? That's Rowan Atkinson's peak.

The whole of the Moffat era in 20+ minutes
It's also oddly prophetic of the Chibnall era as well.
If you liked Richard E Grant, make sure you find a copy of Scream of the Shalka.
All Wilderness Years videos were recorded 2 years ago. There is a list in the community tab of which were watched and recorded. Shalka included.
@@medusacascade You're a whole two years behind?
I hope you set it all to upload automatically, even after we all die in WW3.

I think this came out in 1999? 🤔 In any case, I've always loved this and I'm so pleased you reacted to it.
Yeah, it's in the video title.

This was the actual beginning of the idea of time lords gender bending.
A bleeding joke Moe-Fatt stole from Bill and Ted turned into canon. 🤯
Can't believe anyone hasn't seen this already.
Brilliant, silly fun!😂 Nice one Medusa😊❤👍
I've always loved this special. It's so good.
Agreed. I love Rowan Atkinson - with the exception of Mr Bean, haha!
I'm disappointed that both male leads of _Lair of the White Worm_ have played the Doctor and neither got to face the Mara.
For Comic Relief, I thought it was very good. You don't take this kind of thing seriously.
Yeah it's great! I fell off my chair laughing when I first saw it.
Steven Moffat's best work
Oh lovely!
The horrible truth is that Hugh is actually pretty good at it. I guess it's technically not too late.
Ironically, this short hilariously makes Richard E. Grant the only actor to play a _NON-CANONICAL_ Doctor... twice 😂
They totally ripped off the Bill and Ted movies with that time game gag. It's ok though, Bill and Ted based their phone box time machine on Dr Who.
Steven Moffat went back in time and bribed the Bill & Ted scriptwriter ;)
Please react to the classic Lost In Space Tv show. With Jonathan Harris as Dr Smith. I think you’ll find him hysterical.
You missed the cliffhanger midway?
really enjoy this one
Do have any more Dr Who Wiildness years uploads left
Off the top of my head, about 14 I think.
I will say Medusa have you ever seen Blake,s Seven, and if not will you be viewing and reacting to it at some point.

Not a fan of Mr. Bean!?! 😭
I never liked Mr. Bean, not my kind of humour. Blackadder, however... well, not the first series. Start with Blackadder II.
YAY!!! Someone else who despises Mr. Bean.
Lol what has Mr Bean done to you??
