Admittedly, I was skeptical when I heard that Disturbed was doing a cover. I mean, what could compare with the S&G original? I was very pleasantly and overwhelmingly surprised with it. Then, I heard yours: hauntingly beautiful with some edginess causing goosebumps. The only comparison I can draw here is: •Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel -> Disturbed & Thomas Pedersen) and •Hurt (Trent Reznor -> Johnny Cash) That’s a huge compliment I wouldn’t just throw around. I don’t even typically comment at all. Definitely amazing and this definitely won’t be a listen and forget; I’ll be listening to this again. For sure.
First, kinda blown away by your vocal talent. You hit some seriously hard notes. Honestly, the only thing standing between you and Draiman is his delivery. He has a poetic knack for strongly articulating his words when singing. One never runs into the other. Each has a clearly defined place, like marching soldiers, entirely together, entirely separate. This adds drama and intensity without actually increasing vocal intensity. Also, he delivers each word with a fist and some with a hammer. He's not singing a song, he's passionately telling a story of an event of great magnitude and wants to emphasize the trauma it caused. Draiman inflicts a sense of urgency like a weapon. You're amazing. If you ever sing if again, don't just sing it, tell the story like it hurts...It might kill me, lol. But, I think It would seriously challenge Disturbed's cover in a way no one else (That I've heard) could!
