Yeah, this is to keep you from finishing Riku's story before Sora's, otherwise the narrative wouldn't make any sense. You have to finish Sora's story first, THEN Riku's.
Ah, thanks. I've never seen this cutscene, considering I've beaten Sora's final boss and went on ahead to beat Riku's series of bosses afterward. (Note: I got this cutscene after I beat the game and loaded the save after looking around)
@@kyropy I think that's cause when you beat the game it puts you back to the point before you've beaten any of the final bosses, which is why you can still switch back to Sora again.
It always baffled me that, even after finishing Riku's story, you still drop as Sora, it's just, he drops to himself. Kind of like the cutscenes in the first game which changed depending on if you won or lost or in which order you did the worlds. @@genyakozlov1316 Yeah exactly, I'm well aware of the changes in cutscenes in KH1, particularly those in Monstro if Riku is corrupted by the time you play through the world which is one of the amazing attention to detail that KH1 is so fantastic for, but yeah randomized dialogue is so weird.

In this game you play both Sora's and Riku's stories at the same time, switching usually when a timed "Drop" gauge runs out. You can't finish Riku's story before Sora's, so the game will always force a drop just before the final area, until Sora's final boss is defeated
