Yeah, this is to keep you from finishing Riku's story before Sora's, otherwise the narrative wouldn't make any sense. You have to finish Sora's story first, THEN Riku's.
Ah, thanks. I've never seen this cutscene, considering I've beaten Sora's final boss and went on ahead to beat Riku's series of bosses afterward. (Note: I got this cutscene after I beat the game and loaded the save after looking around)
@@kyropy I think that's cause when you beat the game it puts you back to the point before you've beaten any of the final bosses, which is why you can still switch back to Sora again.
It always baffled me that, even after finishing Riku's story, you still drop as Sora, it's just, he drops to himself. Very annoying, especially if you start a boss fight with bad timing and then for some reason drop, losing that progress and arbitrarily being moved directly to the start of the fight you were currently already in.
@@GrounderPlusThat's really not too much of an issue if you just use Drop-Me-Nots, even if just periodically, or at least right before a boss. It's entirely possible to go through the entire game and only Drop at the 4 or 5 forced moments.

In this game you play both Sora's and Riku's stories at the same time, switching usually when a timed "Drop" gauge runs out. You can't finish Riku's story before Sora's, so the game will always force a drop just before the final area, until Sora's final boss is defeated
@@ikagura Thats not even half of it, not only can you drop during boss fights (and when you switch back their hp resets to full), there are attacks from enemies that speed up the gauge, but the game also eventually makes it redundant by giving you items (Drop-Me-Nots and Drop-Me-Nevers) which you can refill the gauge with no consequence besides maybe your wallet. The HD Remaster of this game also lengthened the time of the gauge compared to the original 3DS release. On the plus side, defeated enemies drop points which can be used in the menu during switching to purchase abilities, items, and temporary stat bonuses for the next character, so purposely switching to accumulate points for advantages next time is a strategy.

It is the cutscene of Riku Dropping into a Dream. I mean, even if a post game reward is the ability to remove those interruptions the story based cutscenes still have to play out.
That makes sense. Be stupid for Riku to finish all of Sora dreams before him. Wouldn't make sense even more, considering the last world was a hijacking. Either way, Sora lost prowess in this game, causing him to disappear in KH3.
