Actually, the inclusion of the first male precure with cure infinite came after a scandal. Toei animation was in contract with an hotel chain who offered Dragonball Z and Precure room to kids for special event. And actually, a boy fan of Precure asked to his mother to lend a room for his birthday and the hotel chain says "No" because the Precure rooms were for girls. Toei were fast to make amend and said they were opposed to this decision and they'll stop to work with this hotel chain. And year after that, cure infinite were created to show that "boys can be Precure "
I'm not convinced that the scandal was the cause. Big productions like Precure are usually planned out ~ 3 years in advance. Cure Infini's arc fits in the story too well for him to be a last minute addition.
As a girl, I don't really understand haters of Cure Wing. Yes, Pretty Cure is primarily for girls but what's so wrong with making boy fans happy? Of course, I can't speak for them, but I think they handled Tsubasa's character really well. He isn't sporty but he's smart, selfless and kind. I'm also glad that the girls don't treat him differently because he's a boy. There's no teasing or romantic tension, they're all friends.
Yes what is wrong with a media that only has male heroes. Where females are considered meat-rentable whores that only exist to please the male. Why is it so wrong to have one anime where girls are the heroes?
So males have to be the stars in all anime? Why do all anime have to be revolting around the male? Please him? And be his harem? Why cant girls be strong? Why do girls only have to be harem meat? Is that something you like?
@@hysterisksomfanwhere did she say that. Quote her. In fact, she said the complete opposite of the words you decided to put in her mouth. Sun Vulcan yeah. Granted that was one of the very early Sentai shows. And it only had 3 members. Another thing to note is that in Rider we've been getting more female riders since the Reiwa era. To the point that it's now a requirement.
@@FireFury190 That is probably why @Marvel Entertainment did not adapt Sun Vulcan for @Power Rangers Official, no female team members at all, even when certain members got replaced, could be interpreted as sexist in North America.

Also a blue lead precure from a fantasy world rather than a typical modern day world and a precure who remains a baby in her civilian form. I guess cure prism is the only least unique out of the entire hirogaru sky precure team huh.
I initially did think Cure Wing looked rather feminine for being a boy Cure, but I've basically gotten over that. I do wonder though whether Ageha's habit of calling Tsubasa "shounen" (boy) rather than his actual name is Toei's way of constantly emphasizing that "YES he IS a boy guys," or if it's just a character quirk. I do like Butterfly a lot though. The team very much needed a defense/shield character by the time she debuted, but then they added another layer to it by giving her the Mix Palette which allows her to buff the others with power-ups, which is something I don't think they've ever done before. The defense role also just makes sense for Ageha as a character - she's the team mom, the one who takes care of everyone. Before the shield character role usually got assigned to the shy character, like Mint, Rosetta, Coral, and Spicy. So it's nice to see a more confident character in that position.

What's hilarious is that the little girls this show is made for probably don't even care about there being a boy precure. It's the man-babies and woman-toddlers who are wasting their time being upset at this instead of filing their taxes.
i have a different take on male precure does anyone remember Seiji from happiness charge? he would be perfect male cure candidate. he was already on with the plot, was pretty supportive of the entire thing and had pretty straight forward character that would not need much tweaking to make him an esentially super sentai problem with male cures being controversial as a whole is probably not in fact that boy is a warior of some rightious cause, because that was done many times in the past and worked, but there is slight uncanny valey between beloved by many anime fans traps and actual impersonation of male virtues, which don't nesseserly mean being good at sport or phisically fit there is much more to explore like analitics and defense, sometimes the ability to keep nerves under controll or outright getting high on emotions and masacring the enemy of which i am pretty sure you could spin a thread of guilt and regret, self improvement, and for many good male trait to play off is reliability and support on the other side we have traps which are not very often seen as symbols of justice, more so they are often a symbol of mischivious behavior and anti establishment this is why it is very hard to balance male character to be both part of an all girls team without loosing what makes them a boy and fluffy clothes don't really help since pretty cures could be considered some evolution of bridal dress crossed with magical girl and a fighter. so i think male cure could pretty much fit in as a sort of a groom more of a tuxido fighter than a crossdressing acusation target or non binary idol some would love and some would hate. i love how shugo chara did magical boys and girls mixed teams and i waited almost entire series for that one yamato maihime, but that was so much earned and nagi was from the very start one of my favorite characters, even in drag because there was a resolve, strong will and conviction to push forward and it was devastating how one journolist could break it so easyly so a character would need a lot of soul searching to get the answer, why a boy would wear girls clothes on stage if you didn't watch shugo chara, i geartly recomand that series, because it say a long story about being yourself in face of external pressure and following your own goals in world that simply don't want you to, something many people lack in social media driven world
Interestingly, the quote that is "The Courage of a Girl" no longer appears in Precure merchandise after Hirogaru Sky! came out. I think this has to do with Cure Wing being the first male main Cure ever. And the quote itself reinforced the fact that precures are female only. I just couldn't help but notice that.
I think cure Wing is a great thing . He shows that cute magical shows aren’t just for girls and that boys are allowed to dress cutely and femininely. Love your channel btw I’m a new subscriber!❤💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️
Late to seeing this vid but just wanna say, I'm really happy there are male Cures. I grew up watching Precure with my older brother, and I pretty much forgot about it until my BROTHER was the one who reintroduced it to me. He's always enjoyed shows of this genre, and I'm happy to see some kind of rep.
Heres what i think. Digimon and precure are opposite sides of the same coin And I dislike the idea of Either being exclusively one gender or the other. Precures have had Everything from fairies/mascot characters to freaking robots and babies become cures Theres no reason there can't be a boy cure And can actually normalize non-romantic friendships because So many times That's the only reason a boy is in a precure season if it's not a brother
Ok, im coming in as a semi-outsider and a male. Im hearing that they played it a little safe with him and didn’t go the full nine yards with him. I haven’t watch the show so I'm with holding judgment on how safe they played it.
I’m happy we have male cures and yes I always wanted a male cure there’s so many possibilities the only problem that will cause a lot of commontion will be the masculine and feminine thing even though that shouldn’t matter daifuku and satori from wonderful will break that stereotype and another thing would be if the leader of a all girl show be a boy that’s gonna be the cracking pint of precure
I’m all for boy cures, but I don’t like Cure Wing as a character. I love Infini, and I wish both Rio and Takumi had actually received the title, but I don’t like how Wing was written: He feels so strange, as if his role had not been written for a man from the start but they had decided to make him male later (I know it probably didn’t happen this way, but those are the vibes the character gives to me). I prefer Infini and Black Pepper as characters: They fell better written
I thought cure wing is a tomboy girl or girl with shirt hair but when i see the wikifandom he use boku (if i am not wrong my japan friend say if someone use boku he a boy) and i relaize he a boy. That not a bad idea to add someting like cure wing
It's 'cause it misses the point of how a male character would work in something as girly and feminine as Precure; it's why Wonder Woman having a son is a popular idea (A lot want Connor Kent to be her son). Tsubasa's personality is fine, its his Wing form that its the issue, is not girly at all but his shorts are of a woman; the length and the garter belt are inappropriate for their age, regardless of gender.
So putting a male character in a majority-female cast automatically makes a harem? This argument especially invalid when you consider Hirogaru Sky Precure has romantic tension between Sky and Prism (aka two females) and not Cure Wing (the male cure.) So really, you're barking up the wrong tree.
Cure wing isnt even the main event, that goes to Cure Sky. If anything, Wing portrays the token minority trope, not the harem protagonist. It would be REALLY weird for a children's show to discuss romance in such a creepy way like that. I haven't seen Ultraman or Sentai (at least to my knowledge) ever doing that. And they are the male targeted sibling show to Precure. I have seen it in Kamen Rider, but its always 1 on 1 remance like in the case of Drive x Kiriko (they married so its not weird) and its show is marketed to much older boys and their mothers (check Odagiri effect for context research) so that doesnt count.
@@jantopaz5229 tf do you mean? no one said you can't have strong female characters. literally no one. the reason why cure wing was made is so that boys don't have to feel the need to be more “masculine”, and that you can explore your girly side too. also cure wing isn't even the main character? The leader and the main character is still cure sky. you're wording it like the show is making the man to be better than the girls, when all the characters are equal. btw i'm typing this from another account

Nagisa.
7:12 AHHHHHHHH🤩🤗🧡🐦 YOUR JUST LIKE ME LOL!
i didnt watch precure sky yet cause now im watching doki doki but its on my watchlist
What's hilarious is that the little girls this show is made for probably don't even care about there being a boy precure. It's the man-babies and woman-toddlers who are wasting their time being upset at this instead of filing their taxes.
I know I'm late, but I actually think having a boy cure is interesting. I like Tusbasa. He's smart, brave, kind, and not to mention a cute little birb
SImply put, we can have boys in a Mahou Shoujo show without making them look like traps. Case in point: Tuxedo Mask and Tsukuyomi Ikuto
I appreciate a good soft boi
If there are female kamen riders, then there can be male precures. the Tokusatsu equilibrium
femboy pretty cure looks really good
I love femboy cures.
Ok, I like all pretty cures. Male or female.
I’m shy and I’m a boy.
Sentai already have 1st female red and soon kamen rider gonna get 1st female primary rider. So we need more male cures so it gonna balance out.
seriosuly my childhood im a boy but BOY PRECURE A FREAKIGN DEMON TO ME
i have a different take on male precure
does anyone remember Seiji from happiness charge? he would be perfect male cure candidate. he was already on with the plot, was pretty supportive of the entire thing and had pretty straight forward character that would not need much tweaking to make him an esentially super sentai
problem with male cures being controversial as a whole is probably not in fact that boy is a warior of some rightious cause, because that was done many times in the past and worked, but there is slight uncanny valey between beloved by many anime fans traps and actual impersonation of male virtues, which don't nesseserly mean being good at sport or phisically fit
there is much more to explore like analitics and defense, sometimes the ability to keep nerves under controll or outright getting high on emotions and masacring the enemy of which i am pretty sure you could spin a thread of guilt and regret, self improvement, and for many good male trait to play off is reliability and support
on the other side we have traps which are not very often seen as symbols of justice, more so they are often a symbol of mischivious behavior and anti establishment
this is why it is very hard to balance male character to be both part of an all girls team without loosing what makes them a boy and fluffy clothes don't really help since pretty cures could be considered some evolution of bridal dress crossed with magical girl and a fighter. so i think male cure could pretty much fit in as a sort of a groom more of a tuxido fighter than a crossdressing acusation target or non binary idol some would love and some would hate. i love how shugo chara did magical boys and girls mixed teams and i waited almost entire series for that one yamato maihime, but that was so much earned and nagi was from the very start one of my favorite characters, even in drag because there was a resolve, strong will and conviction to push forward and it was devastating how one journolist could break it so easyly so a character would need a lot of soul searching to get the answer, why a boy would wear girls clothes on stage
if you didn't watch shugo chara, i geartly recomand that series, because it say a long story about being yourself in face of external pressure and following your own goals in world that simply don't want you to, something many people lack in social media driven world
Interestingly, the quote that is "The Courage of a Girl" no longer appears in Precure merchandise after Hirogaru Sky!
Do you think Satoru or Daifuku are cures in Wonderful Precure and what would you think?
Yes, personally, I'm for it with both hands)
Late to seeing this vid but just wanna say, I'm really happy there are male Cures. I grew up watching Precure with my older brother, and I pretty much forgot about it until my BROTHER was the one who reintroduced it to me. He's always enjoyed shows of this genre, and I'm happy to see some kind of rep.
dude i fuckin love tsubasa… hes a big fat chicken who follows his dreams!!! fucking amazing 10/10 character
FAT CHICKEN HELP
Heres what i think. Digimon and precure are opposite sides of the same coin And I dislike the idea of Either being exclusively one gender or the other. Precures have had Everything from fairies/mascot characters to freaking robots and babies become cures Theres no reason there can't be a boy cure And can actually normalize non-romantic friendships because So many times That's the only reason a boy is in a precure season if it's not a brother
But, he's a bird
Ok, im coming in as a semi-outsider and a male. Im hearing that they played it a little safe with him and didn’t go the full nine yards with him. I haven’t watch the show so I'm with holding judgment on how safe they played it.
Thank god the creators of Love Live have more sens then those numbnuts from Toei
@@jantopaz5229 get over it its just a male character
I don't mind a male cure
There's nothing wrong with that
I’m happy we have male cures and yes I always wanted a male cure there’s so many possibilities the only problem that will cause a lot of commontion will be the masculine and feminine thing even though that shouldn’t matter daifuku and satori from wonderful will break that stereotype and another thing would be if the leader of a all girl show be a boy that’s gonna be the cracking pint of precure
Cure Top: *Hi* 😃
You forgot about dancing star precure
Poor Wing…
I feel bad that he gets all this hate, he is the tastiest Cure! KFC
Since the word pretty is for girls so we call guys handsome, not pretty, so are they called Handsome Cures?
you know, boys can be pretty too.
As a guy I totally get way it would be controversial
isnt dance star precure a male group? ......
Yeah but they aren’t part of the official Precure line up. Plus, kids aren’t able to enjoy it since it’s for older audiences
You forgot cure chocolat 😅
Cure Chocolat is a girl!!!
She’s a girl. Altough she’s pretty close. Like she can be mistook as a boy.
He's adorable (Cure Wing)
I don't mind this idea of a male cure.
every anime have to be a harem. all anime girls are only good as the incel males harem meat,,,
So putting a male character in a majority-female cast automatically makes a harem? This argument especially invalid when you consider Hirogaru Sky Precure has romantic tension between Sky and Prism (aka two females) and not Cure Wing (the male cure.)
So really, you're barking up the wrong tree.
WAA WAA WAAAAA cry harder
@@seiikei Are you crying? Ehh ok, bad for you I guess
@@jantopaz5229 your the one crying over a male that will literally never appear again
Cus it’s a girls show that’s why
That's the most childish thing you could possibly say💀
@@blankaschejbalova1730 Why is it wrong to have strong females in anime? Why do males always have to be the heroes?
@@jantopaz5229 tf do you mean? no one said you can't have strong female characters. literally no one. the reason why cure wing was made is so that boys don't have to feel the need to be more “masculine”, and that you can explore your girly side too. also cure wing isn't even the main character? The leader and the main character is still cure sky. you're wording it like the show is making the man to be better than the girls, when all the characters are equal.
btw i'm typing this from another account
@@MyKuromi_07 No they are not. As soon as that boy entred they be become his mindless little harem wives that only exist to please him. Alway the same in anime boys are strong girls are weak and only exist to please them. Maybe shouldnt as a suprise because most anime is targeted towards Japanese incels and they hate females that are strong

Why do males need to have a harem in every anime? Why can't girls be the heroes? Why do males always have to be the stars?
Girls are always the heroes in Precure. We’ve never gotten a maincure that was male. They were always female.
