There's at least one more example of non-cures pretending to be Precure out there! In episode 15(?) of Hugtto Precure, Emiru pretends to be a Precure. She does end up becoming a Cure later, but I think that this would still count since we were several episodes out from Macherie and Amour's debut
Wasn't there an episode in Smile where a famous Japanese comedian had a bit where he was "the sixth cure" but it was just him screwing around in the middle of the battlefield? I found it actually kind of sweet cuz it was an episode devoted to Cure Sunny and the region in Japan she comes from. The fictional girl and the RL comedian share the same regional accent. It was a moment where I was like "Oh wow, it's a diversity episode, like episodes of peeps from different ethnicity in an american show." It was nice. (And then we've gotten the literal Latino Cure Soleil years later and HOME RUN LADIES AND GENTLEMEN :D )
I find it funny that the Futari duo worked so hard to keep Pretty Cure a secret and then, by the time Happiness Charge comes out, Pretty Cure is so well known that there are Pretty Cure warriors all over the world.
Its not only that they were trying to keep their double lives a secret but in the original there were literally forces working so that it was nearly impossible for outsiders to find out about pretty cure. Just about every episode, with a few exceptions, when the dark forces made themselves known everyone around the general area of attack dropped into a coma until the attack was over. It doesn't happen in any other season either. Just the original and its direct sequel Max Heart
We do not talk about that season, it is dead to us. Main points of the plot kept changing and it just looks like they threw in a bunch of ideas and called it good enough.
Also can we talk about how Precure is so accepting of everything? Gay couples, non binary/ trans people, lesbian couples , bullying , depression and a lot more? THIS IS HONESTLY INCREDIBLE! Even more incredible as it’s a kids’ show. I am honestly impressed.
In hugtto precure, Emiru ( who later becomes cure macherie ) pretends to be a precure and help citizens, and is a huge fan of the precures. Also towards the end of the series the whole town knows of the precurs and cheers for them!
Ya I'm watching Hugtto now actually and already before episode 10 they've been spotted by people around town and school, schookids gossiping about it, Saaya letting Hana draw Cure Yell on the school newspaper, and that was how Cure Etoile sort of became a cure was by SEEING Yell and Ange around and being a fan/wanting to join them and fight and Shine~.

SHAME. They are so good-sometimes not in the writing, but absolutely the combat. 3) For Dragonball Super, there is not only a Pretty Cure love letter in Akira Toriyama fashion within the Tournament of Power, but it also uses several Precure conventions. And then it uses Toei’s budget behind Precure to make the best looking parts of that arc, and the Broly movie. 4) All of them in their own way are absolutely adorable. 5:50 - That is actually kind of a thing that isn’t done much in the series unless the supporting cast are direct allies of the Cures, usually. You either find a bridge or abandoned soccer field to lead the Xakenna/Desertian/MotW there to thrown down with. 7:19 - Okay, now when I saw this episode, I was like: “Honoka, don’t you dare ruin their fun. They’re not harming anybody. Negisa, you probably don’t much mind since being admired is kinda a thing you want through the whole series.” 8:09 - now that is also rare for the first series, because unlike in all other parts of the series, the antagonists do not know who the Cures are. Wait, I thought in Doki Doki Precure, the entire team was well known. That is why when Cure Heart reveals her identity, (on national television) everyone was like, "MANA is Cure Heart?!?!?!?" But idk
Ideed. From my memory I believe only 3 cure teams were outted by the end of their season. Fresh Pretty Cure, Doki Doki Pretty Cure, and Go! Princess Pretty Cure. Fresh team actually told a small group of close friends and family before the final bout, so even though the town knew pretty cure existed only a small handful actually knew who they were. Doki Doki team was outted completely spur of the moment by their leader cure on national television as you mentioned. Trying to physc themselves up Mana (Cure Heart) cheerily states "who do you think i am? I'm the middle school class president Mana Aida". By that point figuring the leader is Mana everyone else is able to guess who the others are rather quickly. And last but not least Go! Princess team was outted by the need to do their job regardless of who was present. At the time of the final bout, the main enemy Despear has taken over the island which the school was built on and the entirety of the school populace is evacuating along with the team pulling up the rear. Knowing they can't leave the island with the rest of the students and faculty, the team attempts to take a stand against Despear but their classmates hold them back not knowing any better. The only way they can fight is to show their hand and transform in front of everyone.
@@cynderjackson8992 The thing about Mana revealing her identity, the fight with Proto Selfish was actually being televised globally not nationally because the break between worlds was being reported to the world.
You covered this in your video a little bit. But my favorite series has to be Hugtto Precure, because not only do we get a solid male precure (for like 2 episodes but still he's got his own unique design and color), but it pulls a Smash Bros, declares that *Everyone Is Here*, and the ENTIRE TOWN becomes PreCure. Even the main hero's Dad becomes a PreCure warrior. Emiru's brother also becomes a PreCure. Every single female and male villain also become PreCures, granted their designs are basically just very shiny versions of their outfits. But it's so cool for Toei to be like "Yeah we get it, this is marketed mainly to young girls, but we see the moms and dads of the girls and boys who look at this show and they also get some love." Like, PreCure is an anime that I'd definetely opt to show my kids in the future. But if there's any series that I feel it is imperative that they see, it has to be Hugtto. Not just because of the fact that "Yo you can make your own Curesona", but because the mantra of "you can do anything, you can be anything" is coupled with depictions of hard work over time AND childish idealism and dreaming. It's a show I wish I would've seen as a kid myself.
That is one of the things I liked the most about the cartoon Miraculous Ladybug - EVERYBODY knows of the heroes. Sure, their identities are as well hidden as a Sailor scout but the series constantly explores the struggles of having an alter ego. The main duo keeps their identities hidden even from each other because there is a chance the villains, media or friends and family can end up getting in the way of saving Paris...or you know, getting in danger. More than just the public knowing about them, most of the Paris citizens adore Ladybug and Chat Noir while merch with them is questionably constantly sold. There is a god damn bronze (?) statue built in their honor. A bunch of the secondary characters and even one of the main are a huge Miraculous fan and let me tell you, it gets hilarious at times. Ladybug and Chat Noir also take from "the friendly neighborhood Spider-man" thus helping out the civilians with normal everyday stuff like getting cats off trees. THE POLICE (which are missing in every magical girl series ever) take an active role in this cartoon and help the protagonists. Miraculous Ladybug lets viewers experience a new kind of magical girl show where they can be heroes and idols (as in icons, not the singer type) at the same time. The show has tons of problems but the known-to-the-public aspect is one of the things that keeps it fresh and entertaining.
@@altars.of.madness Yeah I don't count them as seperate Cures either, they are kind of like Dream and the others who just got different outfits, Bloom and Egret just changed their names as well
The villains in Futari wa were so amazingly good. My favorite were the brother and sister duo who simply out and outright steal the fairies as easy as that is. Although the fact that, from the beginning, the villains know, what school they go to, what they look like, and pretty quickly, who they are, was mind blowing at the time the first season aired.
Honestly the first three minutes of this are a better explanation of what Pretty Cure is than any other I've seen. And I've searched. I have been so confused for so long. Thank you. (Seriously, a bunch of explanations I found boil down to: "Pretty Cure is about magical girls, called Pretty Cures. Also there's 57 of them and they sing have fun byeeeeee~")
Don't forget that Fresh Precure revealed their identities before the final battle because they were aware of the fact that they could have lose and never come back to their friends and family (who in fact stop them from going), that's the public awarness and cheers that made possible for The Fresh four to transform into angel mode. I personally like that serie the most because of all those plot twist and... All
I remember my first precure season was the smile precure and my god It was love at first sight... I guess precure kind of helped me getting out of my more edgy art phase... Like I remember all my characters wore black and white (mostly black) and even their hairs were mostly neutral colors and dark colors. Precure was my biggest inspiration to use more color in my art. I also love its morals ad its characters has I decided to watch all the seasons since I really like this franchise. Yeah I am 19 and I love colorful and cute anime (thought lets be real for a kids series this show could be dark when it wanted too).
FRESH PRECURE have the precures being a hero in universe where little kid refuses to undergo surgery without meeting them that show also have many self references to previous cure series like hairdeos and rival dance teams all being named by precure transformation calls
I know Hugtto has been talked about a couple other times, but there’s also a fan club shown in the series. Cure Yell’s younger sister wants to apologize to the PreCure because she thinks that her sister Hana causes all the bad things that happen. She and some other boys run around wearing Cure Yell fan hats and she eventually figures out her sister is a PreCure. It’s really cute.
That had to have been one of my favorite episodes. I'm currently watching it for the second time. Rewatching it really makes you appear the art and characters rather than the story line.
This was a fantastically written look back at a really good episode of Precure that, yeah, I wish had more of a lasting impact on the series. You actually hit on a few points that I never picked up on, and I recently finished a rewatch of the first three seasons with the specific intent of critiquing and analyzing them, so that's a little embarrassing. I'm currently writing a retrospective on my blog, precuredaily.tumblr.com, and I'd like to reference this video if that's alright. Do you have any more information on the kigurumi show that featured Natsuko and Kyoko? I find those kind of fascinating and I'm honestly impressed they referenced that episode.
Welp, if I wasn't already sold, that last sentence definitely did. Symphogear is amazing. I really need to watch Pretty Cure, since everything I see of it looks really fun
I didn't rewatch Futari wa Pretty Cure (and Max Heart) since I watched it as a kid on TV, but this is one of the episodes that I still remembered rather well, for some reason it really stands out.
Liking a girl's show doesn't make you gay. You're just a boy who happens to love these shows. And if your friend doesn't understand that, you need to find better friends. (Your friend sounds like a bully to me)
I think one of the more interesting aspects of Nagisa and Honoka's dynamic is that it's less a simple brain and brawn dynamic, but more both girls being intelligent in different ways and the way they compliment each other makes up for the areas that other is lacking in. Or in simple terms, Honoka is smart, Nagisa clever.
Technically, hugtto should be correctly written as "Hug!" Just like a couple series earlier it's called Witch PreCure. Tonikaku, the 'tto' in Japanese indicates quotation marks in spoken form. Just like ka being a question mark, yo is an exclamation point. Heartcatch gets snubbed... 😢 The character designer for Heartcatch also worked on Ojamajo Doremi, which is why Heartcatch is hugely popular.
I’m not that into Pretty Cure anymore, but to comment on 13:15 i believe in Suite Precure(?) their opening does state “For girls” and “For boys” however, i haven’t heard it in years and my memory is as good as a goldfish :)
And kira kira pretty cure a la mode had a male fairy mascot (Pikario/Rio/Julio) who wanted to be a precure alongside his twin sister (kirarin/ciel) and was even on the road to a true precure redemption arc after he was revived from his magically induced coma caused by Noir, the Big Bad of the season, whilst saving Ciel during her pretty cure debut episode. Though because of the BS finale where the less developed pekorin became a cure. Even after all the shit Rio had gone through just trying to redeem himself after being blessed with temporary power from the first pretty cure patissier, Cure Lumiere. Being told he wasn't a true pretty cure by the remaining villains and that he should rejoin them, as well as the citizens remembering all the havoc he caused as Julio. Seriously! The head writer of the season quit after being forced to write that bullshit retcon by the higher ups! And Henri is deemed to be the FIRST BOY PRETTY CURE?! yeah he deserved it but it is still BS because Pikario got left with nothing. I even heard rumors that the head writer planned a second kira kira season that was originally meant to give pekorin her pretty cure debut after pikario getting his deserved cure debut in the finale, and much more plot and character development thus not only being the first team to have an active male Precure but also have the largest active team of cures with 8 active members!
random episodes of series you haven't gotten to yet/won't get to for a while is a fun idea and I hope there's more! I watched futari wa and max heart when i was like 9 so I barely remember the actual episodes but boy do I still remember the theme song... it's so catchy
God looking at how long the Precure series is, is really daunting, ive only ever tried to watch Precure 5 and i just couldn't get into it which is so sad bc Precure is exactly the kind of thing i would love. And what??!! A Symphogear plug!!?? Are you planning on doing an episode about them maybe??
@@Exoneos we don't know what the original plan was for Pretty Cure suite that is one of the top three Pretty Cure Court the original number one for me and number two in the 2018 series
That was a good watch, you should make more Precure-related videos. My favorite seasons are Fresh, Smile and Go! Princess, but I enjoyed pretty much every Precure really.
Ah it's good to see a normal episode of Pretty Cure reviewed and honestly it's a pretty decent one. Kyoko and Natsuko are side characters that are understandable and even likable in their reasons to fake being Pretty Cure and yet I love Nagisa and Honoka telling them they shouldn't not just because its probably not good for their images as heroes but also cause it could get them hurt. Which it does as Posiony defiantly tries. As a person who stands by her as the best villains of this season and Max Heart, this one shows why that is. She is an honest to goodness threat who can and will use others to get what she wants. I mean this isn't even the worst example of it as later she almost kills the girls or at least Honoka twice and if it wasn't for another character in the show they would be dead and I mean it they had no way out of those situations. It shows how much a threat she can be and how dark this show can and will get at times. As for the idea of in universe fans of Pretty Cure you are not wrong. My favorite season Splash Star as I like to joke never has the Cures be known by anyone due to the whole villains knocking out humans during fight scenes they are actually very kind like that, as for Yes, Fresh and Heartcatch especially with Ban it is all handled really well him being my favorite secondary from the season overall and as for Happiness Charge it is a mess with that aspect and I wish it didn't exist as it create a ton of issues both in universe and in the massive all stars cannon but it still had a nice idea with the reverence to the Cures especially from a news reporter in that show as well. As for the aspect of the children characters I rather like the idea especially how both boys and girls are in the episode wanting to see Pretty Cure and not just little girls. Kyoko and Natsuko I will admit are not my favorite student characters honestly Futari Wa's are not my favorite overall but they do have a charm to them I am glad was reflect in merch. As for their VA's Natsuko being played by Hibiki is funny both from the fact that Futari Wa VA's becoming future cures is an oddly common occurrence but also since its funny as I compare her a lot to Nagisa sometimes in a more rude way as I feel Suite was a little to like Futari Wa for my taste but still. This video was really cool and I hope you try out other Pretty Cure episodes maybe in the future as they are so much fun.
You should make a video on how many times the entire world was affected by the actions of the enemies, like how the entire planet was destroyed in Splash Star or in HeartCatch it became a desert.
every season a new precure team, one movie per season and a crossover movies that also reveals the newest characters... so is Precure just Kamer Rider for girls?
Pretty much! Both are Toei productions so it’s not surprising that they designed it to be a female-oriented version of their already successful Sentai/Rider franchises.
It gets farther than that. From its 10 Anniversary, they started to do baton pass scenes like Super Sentai started back in Dekaranger. Then, they started to do the new leader appearing at the final episode of the previous season like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai did with their movies since Decade/Shinkenger. Episode 37 of HUGtto had some references to Gokaiger vs Goseiger. Very obvious ones if you saw the movie.
Lmao i remember there were precure fans and they cosplay as them in the anime and I was like I thought it was supposed to be a secert, but then in fresh precure in 2009 they be showing on tv about precure in the hospital in the anime and that one girl saw precure in person and the precure wink at her like that was cool tho.
You can start with any season except for Max Heart and 5 GoGo. Those two are sequels to their immediate predecessors, but every other series in the franchise is standalone.
I would start with Go Princess or Heartcatch if you want to watch one of the best first. If you just want to get a basic understanding of what the Precure franchise is as a whole I would start with Smile which is really fun.
I’ve only watched Glitter Force/Glitter Force Doki Doki, (which I believe is are dubbed versions or something in relation?), so it was interesting to listen to this.
wow this was just reccomended to me on my feed and i love it! im going to have to save some money so i can commission a video about smile precures connect to 3/11 :0
An interesting example of Precure fandom is Julio/Pikario from KiraKira Precure a la Mode. He develops an obsession with precures and as a result when he is corrupted by darkness and gains magical powers those powers are very similar in appearance and function to those of Precure.
There's at least one more example of non-cures pretending to be Precure out there! In episode 15(?) of Hugtto Precure, Emiru pretends to be a Precure. She does end up becoming a Cure later, but I think that this would still count since we were several episodes out from Macherie and Amour's debut
You’re correct, it was episode 15. But I wouldn’t exactly call 5 episodes prior to the new Precures’ debut ‘several’...

@@lupapapa There's few made by the same guy. The best one seems to be the Heisei Precures vs Showa Riders manga.
I think the greatest duo since cure black and white is Ladybug and Chat Noir
Yes so true
Marine and blossom noice too.

This is my fav filler episode of anything ever it was so much fun. I love imposters or fake magical girls in magical girl shows
Marble Screw is basically the Specium Ray of the PreCure series. :)
FRESH PRECURE have the precures being a hero in universe where little kid refuses to undergo surgery without meeting them
that show also have many self references to previous cure series like hairdeos and rival dance teams all being named by precure transformation calls
Next Movie: Precure into the Precurevrse
They already have those hehe
I know Hugtto has been talked about a couple other times, but there’s also a fan club shown in the series. Cure Yell’s younger sister wants to apologize to the PreCure because she thinks that her sister Hana causes all the bad things that happen. She and some other boys run around wearing Cure Yell fan hats and she eventually figures out her sister is a PreCure. It’s really cute.
I can’t wait for the the first ‘dark ‘ magical girls !!
Bruh Watch Symphogear
Precure is my childhood!!! I still love Precure a lot!
Fun fact: Cure Black's voice actor was a little girl saved by Kamen Rider Black and Black RX
emiru from hugtto pretends to be a cure as well, although she does become one later. also at the end of the series their whole town becomes precure
this video is oddly heartening, great stuff
That had to have been one of my favorite episodes. I'm currently watching it for the second time. Rewatching it really makes you appear the art and characters rather than the story line.
FINALLY YOU’RE COVERING PRECURE THANK THE HEAVENS
Fwpc is the best season bye
When I saw this episode, I really enjoyed it. I think that it’s always cool when any of the Precure have a social status.
I'm a huge Pretty Cure fan girl so this makes me happy.
Thanks I had so many questions answered your my anime central for information now.

Maho Girls isn't from 2017, it's from 2016. The one from 2017 is Kirakira Precure a la mode.
Good catch! Thanks for spotting that!
@@Eryncerise You're Welcome!
Arelis Alejandro *Witch PreCure
@@AnOfficialAndrewFloyd It's basically called Mahoutsukai Precure
And I'm the person who decided to try and watch most of the episodes and still am
I was literally watching this episode just yesterday cause I'm finally rewatching futari wa
It's been 16 years since Ashita no Nadja replaced over Ojamajo Doremi.
I didn't rewatch Futari wa Pretty Cure (and Max Heart) since I watched it as a kid on TV, but this is one of the episodes that I still remembered rather well, for some reason it really stands out.
Could you Please review Madoka Magica ?
cure black in Kamen Rider black RX
My friend said I’m gay because I watch precure and sailor moon
Dawn Khamhomkul You need better friends.
@BroadTeamFaba the dumbest Shit I ever heard of... Gay and Trans people love mahou shoujo more that anyone...
Liking a girl's show doesn't make you gay. You're just a boy who happens to love these shows. And if your friend doesn't understand that, you need to find better friends. (Your friend sounds like a bully to me)
What no!!!! Precure and sailor moon are best go get better friends!!!!
You're only gay if you want to date a guy. If you don't, you re not gay.
They almost had a combo like Nagisa and Honoka in Suite Precure. It was greattt!! But then Siren just had to become a Precure!!!
For some reason, I read the title as 'FAKE PREFECTURES?!'
lmao
I think one of the more interesting aspects of Nagisa and Honoka's dynamic is that it's less a simple brain and brawn dynamic, but more both girls being intelligent in different ways and the way they compliment each other makes up for the areas that other is lacking in. Or in simple terms, Honoka is smart, Nagisa clever.
I enjoyed the heck out of this episode! Many thanks!
The character designer for Heartcatch also worked on Ojamajo Doremi, which is why Heartcatch is hugely popular.
Omg, I have got the DVD, where this episode was in.
Episode 14~
God looking at how long the Precure series is, is really daunting, ive only ever tried to watch Precure 5 and i just couldn't get into it which is so sad bc Precure is exactly the kind of thing i would love. And what??!! A Symphogear plug!!?? Are you planning on doing an episode about them maybe??
DAmaterasa I think you should start off with smile precure! Or fresh precure! Those are really good!
@@ieshareath1191 I'll probably start with Smile, Fresh's art style bothers me lol. Thanks for the rec!
DAmaterasa you’ll LOVE smile! Cute Peace was my FAVE precure of that season! Np!
I started to watch Futari wa back in 2013 and I finished all up to the current one with one or two years.
Pretty Cure is a FANTASTIC Franchise.
Cure black the fake later became the main protagonist pretty cure suite
I see you are a man of Culture as well.
@@Exoneos we don't know what the original plan was for Pretty Cure suite that is one of the top three Pretty Cure Court the original number one for me and number two in the 2018 series
Precure might be my favourite anime series ngl
I kinda get why it’s called marble screw because most marble patterns are black and white
That was a good watch, you should make more Precure-related videos.
My favorite seasons are Fresh, Smile and Go! Princess, but I enjoyed pretty much every Precure really.
I really like the original pretty cure.. when they shifted from the futari to the fivary formula i just stopped watching it..
Ah, i still cry when watching the episode 49 of Mahoutsukai Precure
im so happy I found the precure side of youtube
where did you get these episodes?
I. WANT. THEM. TnT
The thumbnail got me for a second there, I thought there was a Pretty cure ripoff but then again most of the mahou Shojou animes are kinda similar
Hello! I just subscribed! Its rare to find magical girl chanels! (I think)
💕👏👏👏
2:21 I wonder if they have a crossover with the Kamen Riders or Super Sentai/Power Rangers
You should make a video on how many times the entire world was affected by the actions of the enemies, like how the entire planet was destroyed in Splash Star or in HeartCatch it became a desert.
the opposite of this happened in the Halloween episode of star twinkle precure
every season a new precure team, one movie per season and a crossover movies that also reveals the newest characters...
so is Precure just Kamer Rider for girls?
One of my favorite cartoons is Pretty Cure.(+steven universe, sailor moon,winx,W.I.T.C.H. and infynity train)
I’m so early I’m still waiting for 11 minutes

It’s not released in 2017. The actual year is 2016
I think it's called marble screw cus of marble cake, it's a black and white cake
I love everything pretty cure
The amount of precure there is is fucking crazy
I came here expecting a funny knockoff series akin to what the Korean "Wa Piece" was to One Piece, but that was interesting, too! Thank you!
I could have sworn that in one of the all stars movies the cures show up on a ferris wheel and a crowd knows who they are
Unknown Geek that’s the new stage the smile pretty cure all star movie
They get covered on the news in that same movie
In the stars movies everyone knows about every cure team but the stars movies aren't canon which is bull
PRETTY CURE!!!!
I wanna get into pretty cure but theirs so many shows and movies 😭 where do I even start ?! 🤣
Video: futari wa pretty cure
cc: CATTY WHAT PRETTY CURE. or DADDY WHAT PRETTY CURE. or TIDDY WA PRETTY CURE
Futari Wa is peak Precure
My favorite season was the first and suite precure
A live-action Pretty Cure series it's more like training the Next Generation a voice actor Koe Girl!
@raynaldo arlen k.eman if Precure were to Migrate into a Tokusatsu Genre, They would need Female Wrestlers or MMA as Stunt Double.
I still don't get why Glitter Force is a thing... That doesn't even count as a PreCure dub to me.
Me neither.
Lumina reminds me of 4kids
The dub just said black thunder and white thunder.
The movies have people knowing precure!
And PreCure STILL hasn't been officially released in the US. 700+ episodes with plenty of US fans. COME ON TOEI.
This made me realize that the english dub or the original precure might have been censored a bit.
Me: * see pretty cure *

wow this was just reccomended to me on my feed and i love it! im going to have to save some money so i can commission a video about smile precures connect to 3/11 :0
Precure played on ytv?? Holy crap i watch that channel a lot
I can’t believed this is real
I really like the original
And off course, there is an italian translation
I wish I can watch the other precures, but I could only watch Glitter Force and Glitter Force Doki Doki
An interesting example of Precure fandom is Julio/Pikario from KiraKira Precure a la Mode. He develops an obsession with precures and as a result when he is corrupted by darkness and gains magical powers those powers are very similar in appearance and function to those of Precure.
Obsession might be a little too far. He wanted to become one but his darkness came from being totally outclassed by his sister.
