I was camping on the Texas side of Caddo lake back in 2013...I was forced out of my tent along with my both my daughters because of a horrible Thunderstorm. We took shelter in my truck and about an hour later The Caddo Sasquatch walked right by the passenger side of my truck and disappeared into the woods. Scared the Hell out of me.
I was raised with brothers only. It was a lot easier to learn "boy things" than "girl things." I listened while butchering a deer. I can sandblast an engine or weld parts too. And yeah, I have a messy house, but I'm a useful old lady.

I had a grandmother that had a double barrel shotgun in the kitchen corner and brass knuckles in her purse and she knew how to use them both...well.
I was also raised by all men. I've heard a thousand times...u ain't like no woman I've ever met before....I can put a motor in ur car cut ur fire wood or build u a house and yes mam I also am a useful woman.

Cam, it’s a southern thing. Almost all the men I know call their wives “my old lady”. I got a kick out of your statement and I did catch the fact she was sandblasting. I’m a female, I have an “old man” and I thought it was awesome your wife did those sorts of things. I do lots of things that men do only because of the way I was raised. Some may not be as fortunate as I feel I am. Great story! Another incident in the swamps of my home state. I’ve hunted and fished all my life in the Achafalaya Basin and it is a spooky place day or night. I’m just extremely glad I never had an encounter of any kind like this one.

Oh my your comment was great! I do everything for myself, my hubby, and his mom which lives with us. I have a garden to tend, a house to clean, a mom in law to take care of, and Sasquatch to feed. To funny. I heard one of the neighborhood kids call his Dad my “Old Man.” At dinner that night I referred to my Dad as the “Old Man .” Never made that mistake again… 😬.
I called my dad " OLD MAN' all my life untill he passed on. He liked it because he thought it made the smart one . I sure miss my old man and would give anything to say " hay old man " one more time .
I'm howling at these people with no sense of humor! Hilarious! If April had a problem with any of this, she'd probably brain with a iron skillet before you could sit down for supper.😀 Anyhow it got a giggle out of me yesterday and again today. And the story was spooky great.

When I was growin' up, my dad wouldn't let me get my driver's license until I could change a tire, change the oil, change the plugs, help him replace the manifold, fix the breaks, replace the fan belt, set the timing, and so on. He insisted he never wanted me to get stranded or taken advantage of by mechanics. When my "old man" met me, i was changing my car's flat tire in a parking lot and it was love at first sight (at least that is what he said at our wedding). That was 40 years ago and my old man and I get along great. He calls me his ball and chain and I call him old man. You and your wife seem to get along just fine!!!!!!

I am watching SEC Storied "More Than a Voice". It is a documentary about some of the best play-by-play personalities of SEC football when EVERYBODY listened to the radio. One of the broadcasters said it was his responsibility to capture and accurately relay EVERY moment during the game no matter how insignificant it seems (the smell of fresh cut grass and popcorn, the teams running out on the field and describing the uniforms they are wearing etc....). Cam, you remind me of these guys. You do such a great job of making us feel like we are right there in the story or sitting in your office or back yard carrying on day to day activities. Carry on my friend, you have been blessed with a gift🙏🇺🇸

It's a Southern thing Cam, my partner of 9 years calls me his "Ol Lady". Not "Old" but "Ol". It's a term of endearment. In Louisiana, you'll also here husbands and wives call each other "Momma" and "Daddy", but only the ones who have kids. My grandpa called my grandma "Momma", my daddy called my mom "Momma", it's a Cajun thing.
Loup Garou is the correct way to say it in French, it literally means "man who changes into a wolf", but as the Cajun culture went on, words got jumbled as people would speak half French half English and Loup Garou changed into Rougarou.

It is not just a southern thing. I live back in Maryland, and we say the same things up here. Plus, i served in the U.S. Army and was stationed all over the country, and have heard the same endearments up and down both coasts. I have lived in 15 states throughout my life, and have heard it no matter where i lived at.
