- In this video I bring you along as I finish making the basket for the front of my Yamaha Big Bear. It's smooth sailing from here after overcoming a few challenges in the first video bending the square tubing. I think it turns out pretty good in the end!
-Enjoy!
Awesome build Eric! Diggin the after hours!
I was looking forward to the nutsert install, auxiliary light mounts and powder coat! Looks great!
My wife, God rest her sole, used to tell me. "John, you aren't building a piano!" Build it, send it! Close enough is probably better than "factory"!
Steinway would be proud to have you work for them… Come on Eric, it's just a basket!
That project turned out excellent, your attention to detail shows through no matter what you work on.
Turned out great. I like the look of inserting the expanded metal in the gaps, instead of just laying it over the whole thing. Hope we get to see it all painted up, and installed when we see the ATV again!
Dang! Eric O outclassed my laundry basket and bungee cords!
That turned out awesome! I would recommend using spacers or bushings on the mounting bolts so it's less likely to rattle
Always more satisfying when you fabricate vs buying!
the attention to details shows too well the man you are Eric 💎, great outcome while having fun .👍🏼
Eric... That is Awesome! Very Well Done!!
Thanks for all the content on both channels. Great stuff
Yay Eric O. Ya fit to play with the welder. You let us all follow along on the basket journey. Mrs. O will love carrying her arrows in that basket. Just awesome. I love your after hours as well. Kudos sir.
Eric, from one DIY fabricator to another, your ability, patience and “sticktoitiveness” is inspiring and motivating. Love the main channel with the all the antics. But I recently found this channel and love it for being a little more focused and just you in your element. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit and share with all of us on the ‘tube!
Looks good and sometimes the satisfaction of building something instead of just buying it is well worth the time spent.
I wasn't going to say it, but you asked for tips and thinking of making another one for the back.....
I would have turned the bottom of the rack upside-down, so with the metal mesh to the original frame, winning another inch of space in height and volume. 🤷♂️
Great project Eric! 👍
Brave man welding and fabricating on you tube. Great job, I really enjoy both of your channel's!
Nice work. Craftsmanship on a great little project.
That's so cool... I'm going to build something similar for my tractor. Tired of driving out to the other end of the field with a shovel, rake and a chain saw balanced in my lap... Thanks Eric for taking us along on this project!
Great job Eric don't be so homble that was a awsome basket.
I kept thinking about what I would do next and it was exactly how you did it. It's perfect. I couldn't have done it better myself. Great minds think alike. It doesn't get any better than that. Shazam!
Looks like a new side biz to me!
Very nice. A novel Easter Basket 💯
You did a fantastic job on it. It does look very nice with the round edges. Fits the style of the original bracket. So good job Mr. O. Red Green says "If the women dont find you handsom at least let them find you handy."
Sure is a lot of a hullabaloo to make a basket for the front. Need to primer and paint it too !!! But something homemade always outlasts something store bought !!! I agree Eric, you did a superb job on that basket, wonderful !!!!! 🥰😸💯👍👍🥳🤗
I’m pretty sure I can do that too! Thanks for the inspiration Eric ✌️
Guaranteed this basket will last longer than anything you buy. Great work.
Nice project coming along well Eric O love how you cut the expanded Metal and Recessed it looks very clean 18:28 @Eric O - After Hours
Turned out good! It should come in really handy!
That's a basket any man could (and should) be proud of. Should hold any party supplies you need for your treks into the bush. Love it! Another nice job, Eric! PS Love the family pic! ❤
"Not your forte". Yeah right! Your attention to detail and your care/passion you present makes you better! Great video!
Dang son.....Great job Eric.
That will be used for generations to come always cool to make stuff that’s just laying around into something useful 👍👍
I enjoy watching a man who takes it on the fly
Looks good enough for the girls I go out with!
If I was to do anything different, I'd use round tube but, for projects like this, you use what you have on hand.
You made a lovely job of that Eric, you could get about 50 Ice Creams in that and it's nice to use up stuff that's kicking around.
Good job, over the years I've made custom parts on the choppers I've built. Glad I had a little boy that loved to hang out and learn with me.
Nicely done Eric.👌
Doing the inserts looks so much better than just wrapping it around.🤙
You do dang fine work for someone who says they aren’t a metal worker!
I was impressed you put the “cage” metal inside the tubes
Well done Eric!
I think the basket is really strong and well built. Will last a lifetime.
Suddenly my morning coffee tasted like grinding steel smells. 😝
Good job Mr. O... keep on keepin on,,really enjoy ur videos..
Looks Great. Nice Job 👍
Great job.
Looks pretty damn good Eric 👍🏻
Looks strong enough to set a 5.3 in there. Looks good.
Nice job Eric O. You are now officially a metal fabricator amongst all your other skills.
Great Job your attention to detail is of the charts.
Very good fabrication, a blind man would be glad to see it!
Nice job Eric! That will fit right on my Kodiak. Now just need to make another one for you. He he. FYI for painting, I've been using Rustoeum Appliance epoxy paint. No primer needed. I just wipe it down with mineral spirits and paint it. The epoxy paint should be left to cure for a week or so. (the epoxy does take a while to harden up)
That thing looks great. I think it would survive on a tank in Battle.🇺🇸💪
Nice job Eric, it’s not going to the moon, just the woods, good enough for the girls you run with 😃👍
I like it and your bending device does a great job. All in all a nice addition to the wheeler.
Very cool and thank you for bring us along for the ride. Now send that baby out for powder coating!
Personally, I think it looks great but all the work that I’ve seen you do always does come out. Excellent Big Ed coming to you from Central City Kentucky. Have a great and wonderful day.
Nice job Eric, i am surprised you didn't do what all the farmers hunters do in the rest of the world , that is to go down to your local supermarket when its closed and grab a couple of baskets they have the bread delivered in then tie them on with bailing twine cheap baskets. Your basket makes that quad worth stealing now.
Looks fine Eric 👍
Nice, the salvage yard is full of those bungee cargo nets that come in SUV’s
Looks good! Maybe add several loops on the top "hoop" for bungee hooks to bungee stuff down in the basket.
Great watching a craftsman make a basket no blue prints
A grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain’t!
A. Tisket a. Tasket, Eric o made a basket lol. Great job Eric. I like this sub channel Hope you bring us along for the next part
Marvelous job Eric-o!!! Your a man of many talents!! CHEERS 🍻
Sure you can buy one but we are fixers and builders. That’s what makes us tick. I’m sure everyone watching this channel gets that. You did a great job on it.
Basket came out great look forward to see it painted and what you make for the rear 41:46 @Eric O - After Hours
Turned out great. I was half expecting a basket made out of exhaust tubing since that's kind of your thing.
Great project. Will do the job it was intended for.
Love it! Nice work!
very cool, thanks for the extra content
Pretty nice job! Really liking the after hours show!
Looks alright to me. Nice job.
You're the Michelangelo of basket making.
LOOKS GREAT !!!
Nice work Eric. But I ould follow original rack specially rear corners, then only 2 round ones, and both is separate part, easy to cut to meet rack under it. And second thing, make it easy to remove without tools, some hooks to meet rack, and other side some attachement to big wing nuts to keep it down, big wingnuts to handle them even winter gloves on. And one more when You make that rear basket, make that rifle rack so You can take it of when not needed, so if you are hunter type person?
And last of all . Have a nice winter there, I hope that to Finland also, not too cold.🥶
Turned out great. Thanks for the video Eric.
For someone who claims it isn't your forte, you did a awesome job building that basket. Those welds will probably last longer than factory welds.
You said you didn't have a plan, but that's not true. You have an idea in your mind of what you wanted. For a project like this, or any other project, that's all the plan you need. An idea. Tweaking takes place as the project progress. Been there done that, as many have.
Make sure we see the painted and attached results. Don't forget the primer paint.
Basket action at the old SMA. 👍
Welding!! Back when I was in Germany for Dubya Dubya Twooo I could weld with my left foot while fighting off Nazis with one hand and romancing a Frauline with the other! That's when Welding was tough, sonny! - trying to make you feel at home with a welding rang, Eric....
Looks great to me Eric!
Looks really good!
Very well done.🙂
Good job, looks good.
Good job Mr. O. Fabrication is an art that not just anyone can do. Does anyone else shield their eyes when the welding starts?
Hi Eric. I sent an email with an explanation to what I should have done differently as you requested.
Keep up the good work and thanks!
Your welder all ways a perfect weld
Nice job Eric, the sheet metal fab shop I used to work for couldn't have done it any better!
That came out great
Eric O’…Great job! I like it!! Makin another for the Back? Chainsaw up front and the Wood in the Back. Then a rifle rack.
At 27:30, I was honestly expecting to hear "contact" 😁 I think you made a pretty good basket - especially since that's not your forte (but we won't tell if you don't). It's fun to watch you and hear your thought process while doing these projects - and it gave me some ideas on stuff I wanted to work on next spring!
Don't steal AvE's saying
Excellent job Mr O and awesome welding gloves! Who knew, I can buy maybe 10 boxes for what I paid for my gloves!
Better and stronger than anything you could buy.
Maybe just a metal tool chest on the back? Piano hinge on the top lid with a padlock latch. We used to have simple ones in the Military and we'd throw all of our vehicle equipment in it. They were nothing fancy, but they just worked.
Awesome job Eric I wouldn’t change a thing!!
Looks great good job
I think I'd have put the expanded metal welded in one piece to the bottom of the bottom frame so that it would have been sandwiched between the rack on the wheeler and the bottom frame so the bolts would help hold it tight too. As it is it will work good. Just another way. Thanks Mr. O for all your helpful videos.
I put a big cargo box on the back of my atv, it’s an older 450 Yamaha and I don’t use it recreationally. That cargo basket looks handy for tossing stuff in while your working, the cargo box is nice too if you have anything you don’t want wet or frozen, slings, jacket, gloves. Keeps my day pack dry and secure if I take it out hunting occasionally too.
Looks stronger than most catwalks, def stronger than the rack it’s gonna be bolted to. Maybe posts sticking up on 4 corners so you can carry long items without them rolling off?!
I can’t wait to see the rear
Merry Christmas 🎄
Looks mighty fine to me. When you bolt it down, maybe put a couple thick rubber washers in between to let it flex just a tiny bit?
Nice job bud........clean
