Our family had a '53 Super 88 2 dr. coupe that was a lighter turquoise than this, in fact ours was almost lime green, except one solid color if I remember right. It was a pretty car, as is this one. Ours had the ever popular external sun visor on it. Thank goodness for old 8 mm color home movies! Back in those years and even during the sixties the SHEET METAL was different from year to year, as was the DASH design, if only slightly. I remember the days as a kid where car showrooms the day prior to "new model day" were covered with sheets so no one could see the new cars the owners had driven out onto the showroom the day before! Then, on "new car day" the sheets were taken down so even drivers past could see the new models. Those were the days!
I was stunned when I saw this car, because when I was a young kid a couple that couldn't have children offered this exact same car make model year everything for my brother
"Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! Absolutely one GORGEOUS caa! I vass 14 ven dis caa came out (I'm 81 now, almost!)! Today es October 1, 2020. Do cars of this age need leaded gas? I'd guess YES! Do you good folks read comments on this old a video? For sure this car has been "long long gone" after all these years. Sorry to say, I wouldn't come to any part of Detroit nowadays to look at any car! You can "guess" WHY!!! BUT I could always meet you AND the car in the suburbs! Port Huron would be my choice. Stay SAFE & HEALTHY & carry a "Beek Pow Pow"!!! "Gesundheit"!

For 1954 and 1955, only Oldsmobile 88 and Super 88 do have fender skirts, while 98 does not have skirts. For 1956, fender skirts are no longer offered on any Oldsmobile 88, Super 88, and 98 models.

This beauty is a SUPER 88. There was no convertible in the "plain" 88 series.

In '54 & '55, the 98 4-door post sedans also had fender skirts.
They were an option for the base 88. Many had them, but the buyer was dinged extra $$ for them.
It’s not an Ozmobile it’s an Oldsmobile.😅
