I’ve been watching many of your videos recently, as I’m working towards getting my license, and one thing I admire about your approach to the hobby is how open you are to throwing in a quick session in between errands and daily stuff. If you think about it there’s so much time we waste in between these things which could instead be spent doing what we love. Thanks for all the content here, and especially on qrper! Also love the insights on the ham radio workbench podcast whenever you’re on.
Thank you so much for the kind comment. Yes, I feel like there's almost always time to do what we love and, fortunately, even portable ops are possible when you have even a small window of time. Today, for example, I'm plotting to fit in an activation on my way back from dropping construction supplies off at the landfill. :) I may have 30-45 minutes.
Thomas, I have found that the XIT is easy to set for chasing. Once set, hit XIT a second time, and the VFO will work as normal. Boosts success with little effort. Hit XIT again to adjust offset and then return to the VFO.
Man, all of these KH1 videos are such a tease. Ordered mine 6 weeks ago but still back ordered... sigh. I still have the QMX until then and it's a fantastic rig but it's not the all in one that the KH1 is.
If I'm not mistaken it's a Garmin instinct 1 (unless Tom got a new watch recently it probably still is the instinct). I have the instinct 2 which has the opinion for UTC which makes it super useful for logging.

Yes, it's the Garmin Instinct 1. I think I've had it since 2018 0r 2019.
