- Until Wicker Man opened in 2018, Antelope was the most recent new wooden roller coaster in England (opened 1995). Antelope is a family woodie at Gullivers World Theme Park in Warrington. Here's 1999 analogue footage of this fun little ride.

I finally ride this in June , thought it was quite good , the mascot was on the front row
Been quite a few years since i have ridden this and kinda miss it, hope it doesn’t get removed and if its in bad condition at any time then replaced the tracks
Agreed - the UK has so few wooden coasters anyway, we don't want to lose any more.
davidjellis have u tried wickerman
@@niamhm8459 Not yet...haven't done much in the UK for a while to be honest...most of my time off has been spent abroad
Good video! Kinda sucks that England didn't build any more wooden coasters... :(
They have npw lol
It looks like a nice small wooden coaster. It sort of reminds me of Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland. Too bad there haven't been any wooden coasters built since 1999 in England. Hopefully a park will step up and build one. Nice video David! :-)
It's actually worse than that , this coaster built in 1989 so it's 26 years since we had a new woodie . Hopefully 1 park will make this change soon
252Scooby So, the construction of Antelope started in 1989 and wasn't completed (or opened) until 1995? If so, that took six years to build (or open). That's quite surprising. If you have proof of this, then you should contact Duane at RCDB.
My apologies sir I was just going off what wiki says that's all , but I will let them know that there information is incorrect cheers
Hopefully Southport pleasureland or lightwater valley build a woodie
Well Southport used to have an excellent woodie...sadly it was demolished. LWV would have the space for it. Hopefully after Wicker Man there might be a greater interest in adding wood in the UK.
time they built another one !
I went on the Antelope with my friend once
Haha, on ride review of the ride from 99', I don't know why I laughed like that.
Yeah, it's inevitable, wooden roller coaster just take up far too much space and resources, parks just don't want to invest in. I'm sure there's other reasons, but it's sad that it seems that production of wood coasters are stopping it seems.
+Hypernukeleosis Kirby Only in the UK - other countries are building them in great numbers :-(
Has it seriously been 20 years since a wooden coaster was made in England?
+Deadtoads Sadly yes :-(
Alton towers is getting a GCI wooden coaster in 2018 yay!!!
New wooden coaster at Alton towers called wicker man much bigger improvement to this shit
I feel bad for England. Wooden coasters are my favorite! :) I heard that it is due to the government thinking that they are too sketchy. Maybe they would allow RMC Topper Track coasters!
+Vreffinity EDM It's purely down to parks deciding not to build them...there is no government restriction that covers wooden coasters - hopefully a few parks will get the message once they see how excellent the one just opened in Ireland is!
MY FAVOURTE RIDE Ee e wee eeEeeEeEEeEeEeeEeEeeEvVVvVvVvVvVvVvvv Ee eEe e eeeRRRr r RrrRr!
looks like I could create something more comfortable in minecraft
Ghostdinosawur yeah i remember it feeling quite rickety , good ride for about 10 yr olds like i was
Absoluteh shet
That ride looks horrendous...
in what way?
the track - it looks like it has been built in the 1800s as a pose to the 1990s
Can't see too much wrong with it personally - it was a bit bumpy and was built in-house I believe but it looks like any other traditional wooden coaster to me.
