    Mi ricordi me tra 3 anni!!! Ieri è arrivata la mia chitarra. Lo stesso amore per la Les Paul (io solo replica Eko), lo stesso amore per il Blues, la stessa barba bianca. In tre anni dovrei farcela a suonare qualche pezzo di Blues!!! Complimenti!

    I cant help but feel that you would like the tone and feel of top wrapping the strings of this guitar. Great playing btw that was cool

      Thanks for the comment. I am not sure what you mean by "top wrapping the strings"? Do you mean using coated strings?

    • @Yennork
      @Yennork 9 місяців тому

      @mathieuwolff check this video out. You'll notice the guitar has more sustain and has a more singing tone and I think that's due to the string tension reduction which allows you to do the vibrato much easier

    Not bad. If I can make some suggestions- play with more dynamics (soft and hard, quiet and louder.) Skip around more between positions and learn more actual licks and riffs so you don't sound as much like you are playing minor Pentatonic scale runs. Make yoru slides longer and more intentional and use your ear to A. Land on the right note- even if you miss it, make it sound intentional (usually only a half step away) and B. Bend more accurately- dare I say harder. Rest a bit more between your phrases so your call and response is more intentional. Let it breathe like a fine wine. Overall, not bad at all but I look forward to hearing you improve.
    I just watched your more recent video- Sweet Rock Ballad in A- YES! That is what I am talking about- well done! Very nice.

      Thank you very much for the thoughful comments. This literraly is why I created this channel. To figure out what I do wrong and ways to improve. So collecting feedback really helps. All you said makes sense and I am glad you mentionned you have seen imporvments in the more recents videos. I know very little music theory so I am currently really focusing on trying to be less eratic/random on my playing (less reliant on luck to hit right notes) meaning aiming for simpler but hopefully more intentional licks. Many thanks for the feedback!

      @UTAH100 Місяць тому +1

      @@mathieuwolff I am glad you took it that way- as meant, constructively. You seem to have some natural talent. I don't however I know a lot of theory. I studied under several Berklee grads. My theory makes me sound decent and more important, understand what I am playing.
      I was like you. I memorized (muscle memory) shapes, scales and patterns. That's fine but when you learn even a little theory, you will really take off. Things will make a lot more sense. You will still, not only see patterns, but you will then HEAR the intervals. When you hit a bad note, emphasize it- before moving on to the correct note. I make it sound intentional (like a BLUES NOTE.) I will even go back to the bad note!
      What you play is ALL about context. Consider any famous song and how the chords- by themselves don't sound like much- but IN CONTEXT, they can be amazing. For example, I just learned this. It has very cool chords but context matters: ua-cam.com/video/qwZ_u_UKb0Q/v-deo.html
      I can highly recommend you sign up for TRUE FIRE. I joined and have been learning a ton. Do the ALL ACCESS. Wait for a sale (all the time.) I got in for $99 annually.
      If you have any theory questions, you can ask me...
      Do you know the Major and Minor Scales and can you play Major Pentatonic and Minor Pentatonic? Do you know the difference? E.g., can you play along to Jazz in a Major key? Do you know the formula to make a chord (Major or Minor) and the forumula to make the major scale and minor scale- and do you know the Degrees of the scale- (derived from the respective scale Major or Minor- notes are neither major or minor- they can be sharp or flat.) So if I said my progression is in IV, VI, II- do you A. know that that means and B., can you play along with the chord changes? That means when I go from the II chord, to the VI chord, you play land on the root not of that VI, then II. It sound more correct and professional vs. simply noodling around in a random scale. The litmus test is, if you don't do this, most of your solos will sound about the same and you can NEVER play the same solo, exactly the same way twice. Again, TRUE FIRE! ZombieGuitar is also very good- Brian is awesome. I have done both. TF gets the nod though. The website is set up really nice for learning. And def. get this book *Proline Picture Chord Encyclopedia Book* tinyurl.com/b74fuv76
      Think of learning guitar like a million piece jigsaw puzzle. You can master one corner of the puzzle- and that's fine. Or you can endeavor to see (and play) the bigger picture, one small piece at a time. Lean in to theory. You will be very glad you did. I resisted for years. Turns out, it was pretty easy...even fun. Learn one concept at a time. You will have many Ah-Ha moments like I did.

      @@UTAH100Many thnaks for the detailed information. I know enough to understand what you ask but lack of practice/learning to actually know how to play it because I lack knowledge on the fretboard (I have some landmarks but cannot play any arpeggio on the fly at present - I can alternate between major and minor penta but not in a super smooth manner - I know what degree means but I have to think about it to figure it out. In fact for many years I made it a deliberate effort to not follow online tutorials and instead focus on playing along with the music I like as an attempt to develop my own voice. Many years after that, I appreciate I ahve learn on my way but also realize the limits which you nailed in your comments. I have now not much time for my guitar playing so I want to have fun when playing as I need that for my daily healthy work/fun balance. I do think my hear now has become a bit better to identify intervals and good notes to fall on but I certainly admit with more knowledge it would all make more sense. I guess at some point I will comit more at the theory as you did, ahah!

      @@mathieuwolff As long as you are having fun is really all that matters. Learn at your own pace. Learning by playing actual tunes is great as well. Players like Hendrix and even SRV are masters but very limited in what they played actually.
      When do you alternate? Major and Minor Penta are the same exact shape- only for Major e.g., A major progression, your pinky is on A and your 1st finger starts on the relative minor which would be F#/Gb. The root note is simply in a different location if you are playing A maj. penta vs. a F# minor progression. I mean, it's still at the 5th fret, but instead of being 2 frets up on the D string (if minor), when it's a major penta, that 3rd A (top and bottom are same) will be found living on the G string at fret #2. That is the only difference. Try it- play along with a major JAZZ backing track. It will work.
      To arpeggiate, try simply picking through chords as a start.
      Do at least pay attention to the chord changes. Map out on a big legal paper where your e.g., 3 roots in say Am blues are A, A, D and E. Highlight in yellow where efery AD and E live and when you are soloing, be sure to land on those when the change comes around. It will sound MUCH better. The I, IV, V simply refers to the locations or degrees of each respective scale. The I, IV, V notes will be the same- only Major or Minor is the difference. Use this chart. music.stackexchange.com/questions/23146/why-do-major-keys-contain-minor-chords

      @mathieuwolff  Місяць тому +1

      @@UTAH100I know that for example on major chord blues progression I can alternate between major and minor penta. Major will sound more countryside/bright and minor obviously darker. So on a A-D-E chord progression I could aim for major A penta (F#) or minor A penta which I visualize by simply moving shapes 3 cases away on the fretboard. And I am aware there are then different target notes to resolve as this is the easy "by ear" part.
      Thanks for all the very useful tips and comments. I guess I am aware on all that but should dedciate some work at some point to have a better understanding at fretboard level which is where I am lagging now. I don't know exactly the triads for each chord and can't automatically hit each note I want on the fretboard. I now have a few landmarks though which really help to safely comit into more deliberate licks at important times so I guess I just need to conitnue on my journey. All the very best!
