Emma almost always wears platforms with heels so she is actually smaller than she appears in this duet. But no need because she is a giant of a talent.

Hi Lauren, I think I never heard April Darby sing before this concert was aired live on Liberation Day on Dutch national tv. April Darby has performed in theater musical productions, like the Bodyguard and Sister Act, maybe that influences her style of singing. She was born in the USA. The stage is built on the water (Amstel River) and the Royal Dutch military orchestra Johan Willem Friso is on top of the bridge. When the song finishes, you see a quick shot of the Dutch king and queen applauding.

Hi Lauren, I always love your reactions. I saw in the comments a suggestion from Pioter 3124, that I fully support. But before reacting to those look at how Emma prepares before going to sing on commemoration performances.
I have here for you the preparation in kind of interview at the America WW2 cemetary at Margraten, which is near to Emma's hometown Kerrade. I found it impressive.

Also in the You raise me up performance that I saw in Rhenen you will see a brief preparation before singing visiting the cemetary of Dutch soldiers tha died defending The Netherlands against Germany at the beginning of WW2.

I did like Emma's part more than April's part in this song. I had the feeling that Emma "saved the game" here. She is always looking so incredible confident and relaxed when she is performing. That being said: next Friday (12 July) Emma's new song (not a cover) "Dancing on the stars" will be officially released. Emma is performing the song already in the Vrijthof concerts in Maastricht (Netherlands) with André Rieu and his orchestra and I have heard some amateur recordings (not very good sound and images) of it, made during the final rehearsal and the first 4 concerts in Maastricht (there will be 12 concerts in 3 weeks time this month). I can only say: wait till the official release and when you want take a look at it....

To each their own. Personally, I think April is a very fine vocalist with great range and subtlety in her delivery. As far as the height discrepancy is concerned, people are just going to have to get used to it. Emma is going nowhere, except to the top. So if she is performing with others, that's just the way it's going to be.
We are in full agreement about the harmonies in which their voices meld so perfectly. It's just beautiful. They really do complement one another very well.
This was a sublime performance in the presence of the Dutch Royal Family. Emma is gaining quite a reputation for epic performances, and this one only adds to the growing number.... and she's still only 16 years old!

Hi Lauren, First of all, thank you for your honest opinion and reaction. That should always be appreciated. I liked this duet also very much, but as an Emma addict I prefer her solo performances. That way there's more Emma time😊. When this allready tears you up, you definitely will when listining to Emma's latest performances where she sang "Father" were she reached a new high note level which gives you the chills, or "You raise me up". Both very beautifull and of course totaly owned by our little BIG gem Emma❤❤.

By the way; April Darby is a musical star in the Netherlands and born in Minnesota, United States. This is live on Dutch television in Amsterdam. Hello Lauren, Emma has three more appearances at this time and in connection with the memory of those who fell in the Second World War. She sang "Father", "Hero" and You raise me up. She sang this in 2023 and they were great then and now again. I would be happy if you took a look at this because I like your reaction. Emma is already a number in herself.

I couldn't stand the April part.. My hearing is intense and it was freaking awfully offkey (off key/out of tune litteraly hurts in my body)..Emma is so freaking good (not always spot on ofcourse but with her it doesn't matter, because she puts so much feeling in everything she sings that it just fits)
I wished someone would stop teaching these newer singers, including the older woman there, to not put their mouth so close to the mic. It sounds muffled. Not clear. Emma sounds much better with the hands free mic that sets against the side of her cheek away from her mouth. Every word and note is clearly heard. Go watch SoHyang. Her mic is ALWAYS 2-3” away from her
Mouth and you can hear every word clearly.
Just make a tight fist like it’s a mic. Talk and bring your fist up to your mouth and hear that as soon as you are about to tough your lips, it starts to sound muffled. That’s the wrong way to do it. So whoever is teaching these sound engineers how to tell a singer to hold the mic, they don’t know what they are doing.
I much preferred Emma in this over the other woman. But both of them need proper mic training. Everyone does. It’s not their fault but Jose who are telling them how to hold it. It’s their fault and they cannot hear how that sounds???? I mean those sound engineers?? Nobody has a good ear these days. I’m an old musician and still have good ears and pick up everything.
Why are you so concerned about an artist's clothing? Everyone has their own taste, and respect that. It's about the music.
