I’m a fellow 12C owner from Singapore. The fuel cover latch issue is an easy fix. Just Google and purchase this part, sugatsune part# "pr-3pk" non-magnetic touch latch black. It’s cost SGD30 dollars. Just removed the faulty one and push the new part in.
The minivan I drive for work has paddle shifters and you can hold it down to select the lowest possible gear. The paddle shifters are mostly useless because the van has 208 hp so it’s not like anyone’s gonna be blasting up mountain roads in it

I truly hate paddle shifters. When I used to race I had a deal where they never put me in a car with paddles. I didn't drive some of the cars, but atleast I was more comfortable and it was safer for me to race in a car I was comfortable with.

I love that paint job. Also I’ve seen a lot of videos lately of mclarens falling apart or having a build quality one would associate with a cheaper car. So idk if it’s the UA-cam algorithm or if mclaren needs to step up their game.
McLarens are... special in that regard.. it's not like they're cheaply built, it just that they're designed and built by people that pretty much only care about making it go fast.
They do it so they can make more money off of new parts and repairs. The original buyer usually doesn't care because they sell it off to someone else and then "its someone elses problem". All they need is to make the parts last long enough to reach a 2nd or maybe 3rd buyer that has no choice but to pay for the repair instead of being able to complain. This is why luxury cars depreciate drastically so much. Most people only take care of things if they are stuck with them for a long time and own them, like a house for example.
If they just had a porshe gearbox and porshe power management, this would have been the car of the decade because of that v8 and what it was at the time

Magnet in the gas cap super smart I dig it. As far as the paddle shifters go for the automatic transmission electric manual have you I would just take it to a shop and have them put a transmission that has the shifting capabilities you're looking for
