Regarding yellowing of the clearcoat on the cfk: Your paint shop can blend a little bit of light blue transparent pigment to the clear coat before respraying. The blue hue will offset the yellowing a bit better. Not like "you will never see it again" but pretty decent.

Hi Shaun/Shaun/Sean? I am terribly sorry, but I have no clue how to spell your name correctly. I just wanted to say thank you to your 12C ownership diaries. Just returned home from a test drive with 12C number 135 which is currently for sale. And, very much also because your content here has encouraged me and given me confidence that I am doing the right thing, I am going to buy the car. The process will probably require a couple of weeks before it is all complete, but I can see myself driving #135 later this summer. Thank you very much for your brilliant work!

@@McMedics Thank you very much for offering. The car is located in Switzerland though, which makes it a bit of a challenge for me to have you do the PPI. I have seen the full documentation of the car, that goes as far back as to the order that was put in, even before the price was published. The Ron Dennis letter is there also. The current owner is owner number 3 and he has had the car for five years or 34000 kms. All the critical topics have been addressed in the past, like fuel rail rework campaign, oil cooler return pipe campaign, rear lights, gearbox, a/c lcd's, accumulators, some new wishbones, wiper motor, cam phaser, delamination of the rear glass, upgrade to IRIS2, upgrade to the most recent ECU software, and recently the cam covers were replaced and the alternator plus coils and plugs. I do trust that this is a car that was looked after meticulously well. After the handover, I will probably pay a visit to Donau Auto near Munich, one of the independent specialists in the Thorney Motorsport network. I am sorry that I cannot afford to fly you in for a PPI though 😕

Thanks for posting these videos and giving many of us hope lol. I've seen you post on the McLaren forum as well. In your experience, is it possible to get parts from McLaren to do an engine rebuild or are there aftermarket parts available? I had a V8 Vantage years ago which spun a rod bearing so I like to know the worst case scenario beforehand. In the case of 570s which I'm looking at, it comes down to a full engine rebuild and transmission rebuild cost. I know some DCTs can be rebuilt at specialized shops (I believe 458 and SLS DCTs for example) but have no idea about McLaren units. Thanks!

    • @McMedics
