Ace Rusevski wins the '77 European Championship in East Germany against home boxer Christian Zornow

  • The 1977 European Boxing Championship took place in the city of Halle, German Democratic Republic (East Germany)
    Ace Rusevski is a former Macedonian and Yugoslav boxer who won bronze at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. Rusevski triumphed at the 1977 championship in Halle becoming champion of Europe at lightweight and claiming the best boxer of the tournament award. He later turned pro and fought out of Paris where, legend has it, he was Jean-Paul Belmondo's favourite fighter.
    Christian Zornow is a former East German fighter who boxed out of the city of Schwerin. He was a champion of his country in the lightweight division on several occasions.
