I got to experience 2017 Ducati Monster 1200 R - Test Ride Review. This bike is a blast, and I think it's safe to call it the best bike I've ever been on. If you thought this was crazy, just wait until you see the X Diavel S test!

The new monsters are the best kept secret. Owned a 14' 1200S for 2 years. Also owned ZX10's, RSV4, and like 25 other, mostly sportbikes over the years. You really cannot comprehend how great of a bike the Monster is. Power for days, handling that will amaze any super sport rider and if you like to wheelie? lol. Currently on a 16' ZX10 that's flashed and shopping for a new bike to add to the stable. Deals on 17' Monster 1200R's right now are really tempting.
Really enjoyed the review man great job! Looked like you had a lot of fun too. I've been on the 821 but not the 1200 yet. I'm looking forward to taking this out soon :)

I went from a Duc sportbike to this in April and I love it, I changed my bars to drag bars to get an even more sporty feel
I need to upgrade my 821 to this. Love my 821, but this just takes things to the next level.

I used to own an 1199s and am looking to get another Ducati someday. Was seriously considering this bike. I test rode one awhile ago and loved it! I would definitely put a Termignoni exhaust on mine. Nice review.

Hi there! Great review! I am actually looking into buying a 1200S.. I am 197cm (6 foot 5).
Do you think the 1200R is noticeably better than the 1200S and do you think 6 foot 5 is too tall for it? Thanks!
+Dino Erdmann I think 6'5 will be very close. If you are too tall for it, the KTM Super Duke is a very large bike and would definitely fit. As for the R vs the S, I think the R is noticeably better if you're a very aggressive rider, but it's only when you're pushing the bike to the limits of cornering and acceleration. Under 95% of riding it, I'm guessing it would be unnoticeable. Hope this helps!

So Kischardio which one did you enjoy most was it the Monster 1200 or the Aprila Touno V 4 over
I'm testing both again soon (Monster 1200 R and Tuono Factory), so I'll let you know then. From what I know now, the Monster is as exciting as hell, handles incredibly. The tuono's motor is just insane, though, and it just as exciting and even more aggressive. The big difference for me is that the Monster is so damn expensive compared to the Tuono Factory.

that's fairly high on price dude. search around, you can pick up red one for 15.9k and grey one for 16.4k. duckies and BMW have very high margin in profits, they have room to bargain.

Where you located? I need to take you riding in my neck of the woods! You would be ruined for good. Curves so sharp they put mirrors up to see if anyone is coming the other way.

V2 have character, but I can only compare to a inline 4 engine. Never driven a V4
There is no benefit for it to go v4 other than higher cost higher maintenance cost ect ect.

My friend...I really enjoy your review but i would like to give you one small tip before you buy bike...Go test ride Tuono V4 1100 Factory and if possible test model for 2017

Inspirikus I've been looking for a place to test the new tuono factory. V4, epic performance... but I'm not sure I love the fairings on the "naked bike". Great suggestion though! Hopefully I can soon
Reason why i asked you to do that is from all above bike that you did test ride...I had chance to ride and Tuono. It scared the shit out of me. Such a power delivery, handling is epic, look is flashy typical Italian...and it doesn't have any less fairings when you compare with KTM :) Try to find one and you will be surprised even more then Diavel.
What has more torque, this or FZ-09? Numbers aside, how does it feel?
+Tyler Savin this bike is definitely faster, better handling, and more able than an fz09. Having said that, the FZ has this X factor that just makes it so much fun. I was set on getting the monster R until I tested the Fz10 and Tuono Factory
Cool. I just don't want to go backwards in terms of torque with this purchase. If it's a lot more refined (suspension, brakes, etc) then I'm in. I'm keeping my FZ09 anyways!

Whats wrong with this bike? Looks stunning from every angle, it got performance, and tons of fine to ride. Ducati got better with there increase in service intervals, but the problem is the cost of owner ship, especially if you don't work on the motorcycle urself, plus the parts costs double the cost of a MT09 in case you drop it or damage it.

+TheJtkirk those mirrors showed what was behind me to the left and right, but not what was directly behind me. If you've been on a motorcycle, surely you would know that good mirrors can show you what's directly behind you as well. The monster R mirrors don't have adjustment up and down. Just forward and back.
