❤️What lovely stories to introduce another no fishing day. The mystery of those fish that don’t get caught still fascinates me. If Grey Scar could avoid capture in ‘little’ Pit 4, just what impossibilities exist in some of the (much) bigger lakes... we will truly never know.
Loving these Dave, thank you so much for taking the time to put them together and sharing them. Bringing back a lot of memories, Cardinal 55's lol. I was a Mitchell 300 man myself. I got into carp fishing at the age of 15 and not long after I started Carp Fever came out. Was a fishing a small gravel pit complex at the time in Essex full of carp in the 3 -8 lb range, with the odd low double. We'd mainly been using sidehooked particles on a running lead, tinfoil cylinder bobbins, etc but once we started on the bolt rig and hair we murdered the place. I think the largest fish we had was about 17lb which no one knew existed up to that point. multiple times! It got to he point where we'd be reeling in for a few hours just to get some rest. An ideal venue to serve my apprenticeship before moving on to somewhere much harder. Thanks for triggering all these memories. Monkey Climbers, sun lounger bedchairs, bits of plastic sheeting thrown over the brolly.and all.
I can relate to so much of this and its bringing back some of my own blurry fishing memories from the 80's and 90's . If you ever sort out that time machine I'll being hanging onto the arse end of it 👍
Wasn’t the story about Vince catching the biggun Keith’s first article? Seem to remember the story in an early Carpworld and there was a picture where they chucked him into the lake after he put the fish back. Loving these stories.

2 nd time iv`e seen this and was thinking about the 2 German guys on the beech. That was about the same time as the Devils Weald Rally, Held in Brighton. There were Bikes from allover the county and Europe, There were even a couple that had shipped their bikes from the states. They had camped in the sheep coat valley and the race course. I was in the Ship Inn on the Lewes Rd on a sat lunch watching the strippers (What me and mates always done sat lunchtime), There were loads of Harleys and Choppers parked out side (20/30). During one of the girls getting her kit off, The front door burst open and 2 hairy guys on Harleys started driving around the pub !!!! .One of the funniest things i`ve ever seen..... Great days...
Remember you doing slide show at Norwich sport village many years back. it got a bit lively................... these vids are just like having your own private slide show, great stuff Dave.
The football match could have been the quarter-finals England-Belgium at the Worldcup in Italy. David Platt scored in the very last minute. Still feeling terrible thinking about it being Belgian... 😂

The football match in June 1990 would have been England v Somebody in Italia 90 World Cup. Not England V Germany tho as that was a heartbreaker and you would have known all about that as the boys wouldnt have said a word after!! Another great video Dave1👍
The old closed season,was 16th june.But like everyone we used to get down on the 15th and guard our swim until 1 minute past midnight,before casting in.....

oh well, horton next, dont know what it was about that place, even when i was reading every mag out there at the time, anythin on horton i just never read, it wasnt because of the politics of the fish move, as im from up north and all that never concerned my fishing, it just bored me. i think it was just because there was no mystery to the place, it was just people chasing weights still, looking forward to seeing these vids!!

Does anyone on here know the name of the big lake in the Lea Valley where the old lady in the little cottage by the canal ran a small syndicate from? Part of the lake started at the bottom of her garden! It also has a sailing club on there! Absolutely huge water?
