Mam at 13 there is no question of upstream I think time at still water=3*(time at downstream )
Is just me or it looks easy here but becomes confusing when it's time to calculate alone offline 🤦🏾♀️
The question where to find the rate of the stream in which speed of boat is 18 and DS is thrice of UP can be solved simply by the following:
=> 18+X= 3(18-X) , where X is the speed of stream resulting 9km/hr.

In the question where how far is place is ask. I think distance should be half of 2.4km . because in upstream and downstream same distance travelled in two times. Isn't it?

X=-50 x=2
So x=2 is answer

Still water has speed of 10m/h then why it is called still water.
Water always moves downwards then why still water speed is not called D's' speed.
Its speed of ‘BOAT’ in still water.

then you speed of the boat is 1/2(a+b)

Leave that point itself Just check your options if it is in m/s or Km/hr and take the next steps accordingly. As this pattern is more often in govt exams you have to be in this way.

Downstream speed is thrice so lets take it as 3x
Speed in still water+speed of stream=downstream speed
So, 18+x=3x
2x=18
x=9 kmph
