  • This is a short video, supported by Bournemouth University, where a few of us from the local area talk about what I call PBST (Pokesdown, Boscombe, Southbourne and Tuckton) means to them.
Tony Hughes was the powerhouse organiser behind the Southbourne Revival and Frankenfest events.
Fiona McArthur is also a Southbourne resident and has been involved in many local events over the years and still is through her work.
Jim Dawson is the owner of Jolly Vintner Too, a wine shop in Pokesdown.
Ben Smith is an accessibility campaigner that has been one of the voices behind the campaign to have lifts installed at Pokesdown Station.
Harry Seccombe is the owner of Chaplins Bar in Boscombe and a big campaigner of all things Boscombe.
Simon Fernand is a singer songwriter and penned the Uplift Pokesdown Station song and video. Before anyone pulls us up on the “South West Trains” name again, a little artistic licence was used to make it rhyme.
A big thank you to Josh Pyman from Keylight Films for bringing it all together, and Gary Williams for the drone footage.
Whilst we kept the video short for this release, we will look to upload more of the original interviews.

Lovely guys. So impressed how Southbourne has changed since living there in 2012 before moving to Canada where we were involved with online petitions re Pokesdown Station . . . . ahem!!! Returned to Bournemouth in 2017 and was thrilled to go to Chaplains for the first time ever and see some improvements in Boscombe. Thanks to Fiona our old solicitor for all she has done for the local community. I feel with people like yourselves there is hope that this conurbation will see some change. Thanks for all your hard work and commitment. Great video btw. Well done.

Thank you for your kind words. So many other people doing things who haven’t done a video but this is to celebrate them.
